We got a new phone system today. Joy.

I've tried explaining to IT like three times that I work from home and won't be back in the office until CoVid is over, so my softphone has to work. I don't know why this is greek to them...

There must be a way that they can hook in your (home cell phone/or smartphone). Not that I know anything about phone systems, but I do have a friend who works from home.

His company has all the workers (at home) use their own cell phones. (He's part of a customer service call center for a large medical supply outlet.) The calls ring on his phone (he turns off that function after 5 p.m.), and he answers the customer calls, just like prior to Covid, when they were all in an office building.

Somehow, he still has use of the phone for his own personal calls, etc. (maybe there are 2 lines on the phone?). All the business calls that come in, he gets reimbursed for, by submitting/uploading his monthly, itemized phone bill, into some sort of reimbursement software system.

The way our old one worked was that your phone went through your computer. Which is the way our new phone is supposed to work. You're also supposed to be able to install an app on your phone so your phone can take calls. I tried telling them "I tested it and it's not working". And they're like, "Well, your physical phone is working just fine." That doesn't help me when I'm not there.

You thought it tasted gross, because it did taste gross. It also had a habit of clumping and not completely dissolving in the water so you got those disgusting chunks of milk. Another thing my Mother used to use was "Dream Whip", early days issue. That was terrible. It still exists so I can only assume it is better now, but I don't have any desire to try it to find out. I can attest to the fact that instant potatoes are far better then they were when they first came out. Speaking of old time stuff, whatever happened to Root Beer Kool-Aid. I used to love that stuff.

I agree! Yum root beer Kool-Aid! The only ones I hated were the green (lime?) and orange.
A&W makes root beer flavor packets to mix into water. (Cream soda, too!)
Parkway exit claims go a bit farther west in the north, farmlands goes farther into the hills, middle finger everywhere except Alabama and Taylor Ham goes farther south;)

Correct! (And I know, because I’m from “thinks they are NY” which is closer to NYC than Lawng Island is.)

Can you take your laptop and phone in to the office (socially distance/mask) to the IT guys? They may be able to troubleshoot the issue there, better than remotely. (I say this, because my friend had some issues with the phone thing/working from home as well at the beginning. He took everything in and the IT people figured out whatever the issue was. His system has worked fine ever since.)
