First, let me say this is not a complaint per se! It is an observation. I don't know if it happened to anyone else but when I tried to see the list of available items, a popup froze the screen requiring me to sign up for something, not even sure what. In my opinion, I signed up for 4 years in the Air Force which included a year in a war zone. I have no intention of signing up for anything else free or not. No strings attached is appreciated to a large degree, required "signing up" just to see a list seems a little insincere. Probably just me! End of observation and reaction. However, @figmentfan423 thank you for the thought, that is greatly appreciated.
Try the link again there's some restaurant deals https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/oth...s-day-beyond/ss-BBWAiM0?ocid=msedgntp#image=1 for some reason it started at page 12 instead of page one

My husband and I were at Target the other day, the one store he will shop in, and they had frozen turkey . Big ones, and I grabbed two. I will cook them on Thanksgiving day. One for the meal, and one for leftovers. It's the way I have been doing it for a great number of years. Everyone likes the white meat anyway, so I almost never cook a full turkey.

Happy Veteran's Day. It's also my Social Security Day. I got a little extra due to the fact that my husband is still working. In a month, or so, I will find out if we get a "cost of living" increase. Every dollar helps at this stage of our life.

My sone finally had his hip replacement. I hope he gets a job soon, and can finally move. He hopes it too. It's been a long road of recovery for him.

Yes of course!!

I'm really hoping so! I need to order the shelves today so it will mainly depend on when they were ready

Both ambitious AND crazy 😂😂 the rest of my house is pretty whimsical... It's got like, a minimalist hippie vibe. The kitchen just always felt off. I know it might downgrade the value of the house a little, but I don't plan to move for the next couple decades and I just want to enjoy it rather than thinking about what the next person will enjoy. I think it's going to look really pretty and open and light
If you own it, why bother with what someone else likes? YOU'RE the one living there. If it was just a short temp thing, I could see it being an issue, and of course if you rent, you have to get permission from the landlord, but if it's yours, who cares what anyone else thinks? Did you love everything the way it was when you bought it? There's always stuff that the next people don't like....the carpet, or the wallpaper, or the paint colors. Do what makes you happy.

That looks great!! Everyone I've told I'm doing this has been shocked because there's no way they could do it with the amount of storage they need in their kitchen. I think that's why it lowers the home value. Americans really love storage
Oh, yeah, it totally wouldn't work for me. But I'm not you, and what you like and what you need is different. You're the one who has to be happy with it, and it needs to work for you. So I say go with it. The next people can do the same thing you did if they don't like it....they can change it back. And then they can make it however they like it....they can get whatever color and style they want....glass fronted cabinets, or solid wood, beveled or not, etc. It's not like it can't ever be changed again.

I have been cooking Thanksgiving dinners for almost 50years. Wouldn't know how to do it any other way. Mostly the basics. Nothing too fancy. My husband's family never stays very long, so no need to get too fancy. The men watch football, and I do my thing in the kitchen. I like it that way. Less stress for me.
What are your standards? We always did turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, rolls, black olives, and canned cranberry sauce. Sometimes my mom would also get out a jar of homemade zucchini pickles, but since I don't like pickles, I didn't eat those. I didn't eat the cranberry sauce either, and when I was growing up, I never ate gravy, but I do now.

@MySmallWorldof4 , how are you and the family doing? I know you've been very busy this fall and took a brief break from the forums, but I just wanted to check in and say hello. :)
We are doing ok. I have taken a break as well. Thanks for asking. The internet can take a mental toll, and sometimes you just need to get away and focus on family.
