We had a car that did that, but I don't remember if it was a Ford....definitely not any you mentioned. When we bought it, they told us it was basically like new because they had just put a new engine in it. 2 years later, it completely died on us on the way to my in-laws....fortunately, we were only a couple of blocks from our house. We paid 2000 euros to have the engine replaced because they said it couldn't be repaired. Another 2 years, and it died again and they said again that it needed a new engine. This was also the same car that the locks would freeze in the winter and you couldn't open the doors, or if you could open them, you couldn't close them. A few times we had to crawl through the hatch back to get in, and a couple of times, my husband had to drive with one hand holding the door shut because it wouldn't latch...one time I had to crawl out of the window to get out, and another I had to wave down a coworker to come open the door from the outside because it wouldn't open from the inside, and the window was frozen closed so I couldn't roll it down to open it from the outside. When the engine went, we decided enough was enough and we have been leasing cars since then. Always a nice new car that we don't have to pour thousands into to keep it running. My daughter in law bought a new Ford Focus just paid it off not long after she had it the transmission went on it (12months ago repaired by dealer). Yesterday going to work the same thing happened, had it towed to the dealer and they would not give her a loaner while it is repaired (took 2 weeks last time). Evidently there was a class action suit and repairs are covered and may be able to apply for a buy back (will investigate). Any one else out there with similar issues with Ford transmissions cars involved Fusion,Focus,Fiesta
Now that I think about it, I think it was a Seat, not Ford. But hopefully she can get it all worked out! That's no fun.
