Report of today, went to DHS..
And first.. I want to thank
@StarWarsGirl for using her magic.. because today was the total opposite of yesterday.
It was completely cloudless and WINDY.
The wind was super cold.
So I barely broke a sweat this time. But my stupid self thinking it would be like yesterday.. I did not bring my hoody.
Bad mistake because by the end of the day it was VERY VERY COLD.
Anyway..
If Iger dares to say that the parks are under capacity for the COVID thing.. I would punch him straight because it was a darn lie. The parks are insanely packed.
Anyway, no problems getting into the park via the friendship boats from the SWAN.
As soon I came. I went towards sunset boulevard. To see one of the most iconic attractions that I hadnt seen yet.
The Tower of Terror.
It was an almost walk on. Very good theme and stuff, sad that the service elevator zone had no effects other than noise.
Only 4 groups could board each elevator so I was alone in the top left side.
The attraction was awesome.. also.. there were no bags for my camera so I held it with my dear life making a "pincer" with my hand and holding with the other hand straight to the belt. I looked like I was constipated in the photo lol.
But worked and made safely all the drops and all.
Right after I went out, it was time to try to get a slot in the RISE OF tHE RESISTANCE virtual queue.. Which of course.. was completely filled in half a second.
Not even blazing fast cell phone fingering allowed me to get in. I was ed.
It was still amazing how EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the entire Sunset Boulevard was looking down to their phones everywhere. ALL AT SAME TIME fingering their phone trying to get a lot.
Anyway, after that I went to see StarWars Land as Mikey's Runaway went down.
Along with Pandora, Star Wars land was impressively designed. But It lost some of the charm because of the COVID protections. The BlackOrder and resistance members look very funny with their face shields.
The whole place was obviously packed to the seams. In some areas.. almost shoulder to shoulder.
The lines of course spilled outside the land. With Smugglers run going outside to Toy Story land before curving inside star wars land again.
All lines were thrice to quadruple in length than they normally were because of social distancing.
And the time marks were always wrong.
The 90 minute mark for Smugglers Run ended being 45 minutes. Most of the time was outside the queue (impressive queue).
In the bad side, they keep pushing you forward and you miss the first preshow of Oldo (the smuggler guy from the cartoons ) giving you instructions.
It was also hilariously awkward because I was the only one in the entire simulation. And sure as hell I could not control the entire thing lol.
I ended with a low score. It was fun but damn, after you fight for the third package from the "mission". I was soo dizzy.
Speaking of Smugglers run. Love the little details in the queue. From the sounds of the smuggler and other characters bickering to the special effects of the Falcon spooling up the engine and then sputtering down.
After leaving star wars land decided to check the toy story land.. it was a big nope.
The slinky ride was 70 then 120 minutes long and it spilled beyond the Animation Courtyard area!
So I decided to get inline on in Mickey's runaway which had a posted 90 minutes...
Buuuut.. increased to 140 minutes for... constant clean ups..
every few runs.. the cast members change and then they do full cleanup of all the train cars using sprays.
Once clean up is finished (which takes like 20 minutes, aka 8 trains of 4 carts each one)
Mikey's runaway is funny and adorable... an excellent blend of trackless ride, basic animatronics and impressive projections.
It doesnt shacke much as Dinosaur but it does a bit. Mostly on turns. Bonus points on the eastern eggs of the storm scene related to the famous scene from the cartoon of Mickey's philharmonic that is sucked into a tornado.
Also speaking of bad luck. All the cavalcades of characters were when I was kinda far on the Mickey's runaway train queue.
After the show went to eat. Not a fan of ordering digitally. The app really dislikes the accents of my real name and refused to accept my credits cards. They allowed me to buy directly using contactless from one of my cards. and got a pizza from Pizzerizo.
then this time I got ready for the 2:00 pm drop.
I blazed fast as soon the join button appeared and smashed the accept. And sure as hell I got the next group. So with 15 minutes until my time, I decided to go back to Star Wars Land and decided to park infront of the entrance of smugglers run right by the wall. That area had strategically installed umbrellas.
And it happened again..
I got confused for a castmember and asked for photos.. 3 times.. IN A ROW.. in less than 2 minutes.. XD
Its still baffling because I looked NOTHING like a castmember this time. I had a CUBAN style shirt, of light green color, shorts, my hat and well.. my camera.
The castmembers all had bests and photographers had silver vests on top of their suits!!
Anyway.. the Ride had a monstrous queue that at first reminded me of the little mermaid ride. then It evolved into a cave.
This ride was a very different mixture. It mixes live action stuff. Some VERY GOOD animatronics... top of the line video and 3 projections that looks next gen compared to Universal's hogwarts castle.
Then the transport thing.. Mixing multi screens with a ride and some effects. I love the mon calamari animatronics so much!
Then it got into live action with some cast members acting as First Order. before you get switched into trackless cars.
and then the trackless thingies gets moved up and down in elevators AND then into a simulator of flying.
To resume.. The Rise of the Resistance mixes the best of Disney with the best of Universal.
Imagine combining Transformers with Mickeys Runaway train system with Star tours and Hogwarts effects.
