The love is for the warm weather that you love not the thunderstorm.

I love thunderstorms. However, it can't be at night when I'm sleeping or during the day when I'm driving. @MinnieM123 got hammered today with storms. Depending on where in Mass you live but we didn't get any where I was but my place did. My grass wants to turn to brown to green from the past couple days.

I have an odd question for those of you who buy the Disney Plus. The answer is probably no, but do you know if you can buy (rent) an occasional show (i.e., such as Hamilton)? Or, do you have to pay the monthly subscription which includes all their programs (most of which I have no interest in)?
Free when I got it retroactively as I purchased an Apple TV gizmo.

OMG that corned beef sandwich looks good

Always the corn beef and matzo beef soup with coleslaw and pickles. Always. If you are ever in downtown Chicago it is by both commuter train stations. It’s been there since the early 40s but the area is a tad sketchy though always packed
To the gills. I recommend a taxi or
Uber though the area is being repurposed and the clean up
Of now prime land is happening for the future.

Happy Birthday! It looks like you had a good day! A chocolate cake just for you! I made my family suffer thru Lemon cakes for years =D

Thanks! Lemon wouldn’t be too bad. One year I got a key lime pie for my birthday “cake” that was tasty!

Happy Birthday @ajrwdwgirl sorry you are not in WDW though. A puppy would be a great consolation gift though. BRAD, are you listening 👂

Thanks! Oh he’s been thinking of a puppy too, but we haven’t found a schnauzer puppy in our price range and haven’t seen any litters lately. But we are happy with Kapono.

Love Key Lime. When my baby girl was able to express herself she stated she loved pie, cake not so much. So for our huge family blow outs back in the day I’d order pies of so many flavors. Guests loved it and so did she.

Of course but
A sibling for her would be priceless

No need to thank me at all I was happy to do it and she is delightful! Please tell her don't be a stranger
I'm sure she won't be a stranger. She really enjoyed talking to you!

Her brother is angry with her now because she found out she only has this week of classes left and then 2 days next week and after that it's what they call "broom days" where they clean up by turning in missing homework, taking missed tests, etc. E doesn't have any of those things, so she has those days off, and then the last week of school is when the teachers are grading everything and meeting to discuss kids who might need to be held back, and the only thing they need to do is come once in that week to turn in their books and pick up their report cards and they are done! So technically, she has only one week of school left plus a couple of days, whereas A has 3 weeks. He doesn't think it's very fair. But, he also gets to go to the movies with his classmates one of those days, and report cards come out next week and they can't really give them new material after report cards are out, so I doubt he'll be doing lessons every day either. Plus he had 2 weeks of the May vacation where E only had one, so it kind of evens out, but he doesn't see it that way. He's not being very nice to her about it, so she may need to vent about annoying little brothers. ;)

Thanks for the birthday wishes and cake. Brad actually got me a chocolate cake with the whipped cream frosting my mom always got us for our cake. Except I couldn’t get a chocolate cake as a kid because my sister didn’t like chocolate then so I had to get marble so she could eat around the chocolate, but that was fair because she would have picked strawberry for hers and I wouldn’t have eaten that, so marble cake for everyone! Anyway, I haven’t had a cake on my birthday since 2004 before Brad and I got married and my mom got me a cake!

We went to a new restaurant to eat and it was good a blend of BBQ and Latin food, then went to the Arboretum, now just chilling at home with a tummy full of cake!

My tacos (smoked chicken, brisket, & pork) and yucca fries.

Two of my presents from Brad.

Those tacos look really good!! Those look like homemade tortillas! YUM!!!
I hear you on the cake. When we were little, we got to choose what kind of cake we wanted, and I always wanted chocolate, but when we got a bit older, my brother had a friend with hypoglocemia, and the only kind of cake he could eat was angelfood. So my mom always made angelfood for my brother's parties and to make it fair (and I suspect to save her having to decorate) I had to have angelfood, too. I liked it just fine, but I would have preferred chocolate....I still LOVE chocolate cake. I'm so excited about the Gideon's Bakehouse going to DS so I can get cake!

Question: The third arboretum picture....do you know what kind of plant that is? It looks kind of like Giant Hogweed, but I doubt they would have that in an arboretum since it's got toxic properties if you touch it. My friend in Ireland got severe injuries, almost like her hands were burned, from that. It took them ages to figure out what was wrong with her. She just suddenly got huge blisters all over her hands and no salves or anything worked and they couldn't find any illness or anything. Then they discovered there was some hogweed near her house and she had gone picking wildflowers.

Nice presents, Brad!! Well done! Cake AND books? You are a jedi master of birthdays!

Ah, but what kind of cake did you have to suffer through on THEIR birthdays?? Lemon cake sounds interesting...is that like a pound cake or is it like a standard birthday cake? (sheetcake/round) If I want a cake now, I have to make it myself. Cakes here are so much different. They are not the light, fluffy cakes like we know. They are much more dense, and they almost always put some sort of fruit jam layer in between. I love fruit, but not in my chocolate cake. And buttercream frosting doesn't exist here. So I always end up making my own cakes from scratch...better that way anyway, and you get exactly what you want!

I always make more than one kind so everyone can choose. E loves cheesecake, but A will only eat my chocolate cake. He won't eat other chocolate cake here because they put fruit in it and he doesn't like fruit. And often, chocolate cake in a restaurant is a bit too rich for him, so he prefers my devils food cake. My husband and A won't eat cheesecake, but my friends all LOVE it and no one else bakes. So we have always traditionally done a cheesecake and a chocolate cake. Now that the kids are older, they really hate parties. Too noisy, too crowded, boring. So when my friends have parties for their kids, I bring a cheesecake. (we're all in the same friends group from the Dutch language school, so we're all at the same parties for each others' kids) We also did a joint party one year for E and my friend Mojgan's daughter (big mistake...long story) and so I made a chocolate cake for E and Mojgan bought a cake for her daughter. Her daughter had wanted one of those barbie cakes where the dress is the cake and then you stick a barbie torso in the top. It was really cute, but the cake wasn't very good and nobody wanted to eat it. They all wanted E's. But we always have a couple of different options so that everyone can have SOMETHING.

Not so much yesterday afternoon, but last night -- multiple times at all hours of the night as well -- yikes!! :jawdrop: We didn't get hail, but the thunder and lightning were unreal. Tough for sleeping, and of course, the dog was going mental.
