I’d comment, but, apparently even masks are a you-know-what issue these days... :cautious::cyclops:

;)
This is getting ridiculous. Not all topics are political, some are based on common sense and reality and above all human concerns, emotions and opinion and it wouldn't matter who the hell is running the country. We are all running scared right now. We are scared to not protect ourselves from possible danger or scared to protect ourselves because we think we will be thought of as weak. It is time to stop this crap. Everyone needs to just stop thinking that they have any control of events that we have no control over and just do the best we can to protect ourselves and others. What a society we have become. I think we deserve the mess we are currently in. We have become (D'uh) stupid as a society and a species. Or we are listening to the stupid instead of just ignoring them like we used too.

Overall NC is doing better then some... On June 6... total cases = 35546 Deaths = 996 Hospitalized = 696
June 24..total cases = 56174 Deaths = 1271 Hospitalized=906
So it is still going up and up, but the death rate is better then a lot of places per capita. Not much consolation for those that got ill from it, but it is a good indication that it is a long way from gone away. Each County is different. For example our country on June 6 had 2235 cases...40 Deaths and June 24 has 4253 cases with 43 deaths. The number of cases seem to be rising quickly, but the death rate has been staying quite low. That is with a country population of around 1.1 Million. So it does send a confusing message. With more getting the virus at the same time fewer people are dying in comparison, says most of the dying has been done, now it is just illness and most of the 65 and over have gotten it already and have either survived or didn't. Let's party. That is the kind of undertow I am hearing all the time.

Do you know what county he lives in? I can then look it up and tell you how that area compares with the rest of the state. Just the town I can look up the rest.

Thank you for the above. I always hesitate to ask him about any details, as he's a really private person. (It's just his demeanor -- been that way his whole life.) Anyway, thanks for your question -- he's in Davidson County

Phase 2 for another 3 weeks in NC cause our numbers are going up. Face masks required. Now, if everyone will obey.
A couple of towns in Germany are back in lockdown because of rises too. There was a meat processing plant that had to close down because of an outbreak, and a poultry plant is testing all of its workers because 23 tested positive.

We're set to open up almost everything in July. Public transportation will be open to everyone (right now it's only open to people going to work or to school, and they made colleges/universities change course schedules to stagger the times students would need transportation so they can safely distance) and won't require distancing, but they can only have as many people as there are seats...no one standing. I fear we might end up back in lockdown soon, but we'll see.

I have a 5 pound bag of flour that I bought in February. Plenty left.
I wish we could get big bags of flour!! E has to bake something for school to prove she can follow instructions in English. She also has to have a conversation with a native speaker to show she can follow a conversation and properly respond. And she has to prove she can understand English speakers in media, radio, TV, movies. She's going to be busy this weekend!

They just don't make the bags that large here because there's no demand for it. Most people don't do their own baking. I'm very American in that way. I just have to buy small bags more often.

E's assignments are kind of ridiculous. Every year, they have to do this portfolio to show what they can do. The ones for this year would normally be documented by the London trip that was canceled. They prove that they can have a conversation with a native speaker by interviewing their host families. They keep a journal of what they do every day that would say they watched this video in a museum, or listened to the radio in the car and it was about such and such, or they watched this tv show with the host family, describing what it was. But they didn't get to go, so all those assignments were canceled. Now she has to show she can do all this, and one of the things is to show she can communicate regularly in English, with like a penpal....she has until Wednesday to do this. I told her maybe our whatsapp feed will count as a pen pal. It's written communication. I'm also going to have a conversation with at least one of her friends so they can document their ability to converse with a native speaker. I know she can DO all the things required. The question is can she get documentation of it by Wednesday?

Maybe a podcast could count as the radio thing? And then at least there's Disney+ for video.
