I'm sure no one is really invested in my AC vs. Fan showdown but I'm going to update here anyway LOL

I caved last night and turned the AC on. 86* feels like 86* no matter how much the air is moving, and I couldn't get to sleep. Those who know me know how high the stakes are for me and sleep, as anything under about 5.5 hours sends me spiraling into a few days of intense migraines.

So the air was on for about six hours last night. I think going forward any day that reaches 95* again and isn't expected to cool down at night, I'll preemptively run the AC in the evening. We're back to a high of 85* today though with no more days above 90* on the immediate horizon, so we should be good for a while.

More bug drama at our house...

Mommy!!!! There's a bug in the bathroom!!!!!! Get it!!!!

MOM!! You were supposed to put it outside not flush it down the toilet!!

... Maybe when it gets to the waste water facility, he can get a job there... I bet he could make the poop less sticky so it's easier to sort from the water....

You know,... Those pipes are pretty long... He might get hungry.... I'm going to go poop so he can have a snack.....

Mommy, can we go to the waste water facility so we can visit Jaggy? That's what i named the bug...

No, Mommy, Jaggy isn't dead, he's just lonely, so we need to find more bugs to flush down there to keep him company.... Can we go on a nature walk to collect bugs?!?

No, kid. No we cannot. 🤢😂

I emailed the waste treatment facility and they aren't open right now due to COVID but said to check back

I’ve been wearing my hair in a pony tail for 2 months.. this evening was an exciting time for me. 😂😂

I was going to continue to wait awhile for a haircut but I reached my breaking point yesterday. I have really thick hair so it just feels super heavy when it gets too long. Anyway, I have an appointment for today! I understand your excitement.

If the AC helps you get the sleep you need and avoid migraines then it would be worth using. I got migraines a lot in my teens through my early 30's and it was horrible. Luckily I haven't gotten one in years.

In the first month my husband and I were married I woke up with a horrible migraine in the middle of the night, I hadn't ever had one around him before. I woke up crying and asking him to turn off the light (the only light on was the clock on the VCR). He was so confused and scared, poor guy. He kept saying the lights were off and I kept telling him it was too bright. He must have thought I was crazy. When I was able to explain my migraines to him he understood but I felt bad for scaring him. For quite awhile after that he would cover up the VCR light before coming to bed.

Working from home update since the end of March

saved hundreds in gas and tolls.
saved about 4,000 miles. I still have 16500 on my one year old car (June 1st was the birthday)
probably the only person losing weight working from home

and most important saved from insanity due to bridge construction and going to work.

But the big question is... would you want to work from home permanently? I have saved approx 2k in miles, no tolls here... gas has been a big savings... and I've lost enough weight at home that my summer clothes fit well this year. However... I miss people and would not want to work at home permanently!

I had them every day after the stroke, but thankfully I only get them if they're triggered now. Unfortunately once they're triggered they last a few days. Even with running it at night on nights that get too hot, I'll still save hundreds of dollars over the summer. After this month I'll break even on the window fans. I bought a stupid expensive table fan for the kitchen/night in my room. It will take another month and a half to break even on that thing, but it's the same fans that they have up at the lake house and it's a beast. Moves a ton of air, last years even used every day of the summer all day and night (those ones have been used for 12 years now and still going strong), and its really cute.

I figure breaking even over the summer is a win, so next year will be all savings.

A spaghetti sandwich wouldn't be too bad, especially if the bread was garlic bread.

We never had anything on our bread. Sometimes we'd spread butter on it. But usually it was just white bread or whatever healthy bread my mom was lucky enough to get, and then you just pile the spaghetti on it. I still love spaghetti like this, but because I'm getting older I can't really do that double carb load without feeling it.

I have absolutely no desire to go back into the office. I'm only 20 minutes away, back roads, no tolls, and my car gets 32 mpg so I don't pay that much in gas, but I haven't had a cold in months, I have access to a kitchen where I can just cook whatever I feel like whenever I feel like, I don't have overhead lights that are always too bright (I leave the blinds open and work by natural light in my room unless it's raining, then I turn on a lamp). And there's no guy in the cube next to me talking loudly on the phone all day. In short, no, I'm perfectly happy working from home. My work bestie and I still IM on a daily basis. I'm all good.

Are they making you go back? I actually wanted to go back to school. My main priority at school was the social part and I missed it with my friends. :D I was going crazy. I hope they have this under control the time school rolls around for next year. I want to start cheer and all the fun stuff again. They can keep the classes if they want. Just Joking Ha

So now we're talking about going to Hilton Head if something opens up at the Disney resort.

Conversation with Mom: I think my bike rack fits on your car. I could just bring my bike.
Mom: No we can rent bikes down there.

Dad a few minutes later....
"Does your bike rack fit on our car? Then we wouldn't have to rent a bike for you."
Oh gee, like I said...😂

Nope. They actually have us on an alternating schedule, so there are certain weeks you can optionally work in the building and then there are weeks that you must work from home. Pretty much the only people in consistently are those in the distribution centers. But if you can do your job from home (as I can; I work in finance and I'm 100% behind a computer all day and I have monitors at home) then they want you to stay home. They probably will not make us go back any time soon. Part of the problem is that we're all in cubicles except for the CEO and his staff. No one has offices. It's pretty hard to distance when you're that close together.

It's different working verses being in school. Being in school...of course you want to be there. That's where all the fun stuff happens. When I was in college especially, I enjoyed just being on campus. But once you start working, uh, meh. At least for me. I can either sit at my desk at work or sit at my desk at home. I'll take home.

But everyone is different. My dad is an attorney. He has an office. There's only nine people working in his building. He would rather just go into his office, so he does. I work for a much larger company, so I get a company-provided laptop that I take home, whereas he has to use his own device, and their remote access is terrible. It just all depends on the person and the situation.
