I got the pattern/directions off of Youtube. I used a lightweight yarn. The mask was not as hot as I expected. My problem was that my glasses kept fogging up. I went grocery shopping today and the store was packed with people. Everyone wearing masks, but not too many people paying attention to social distancing.

I thought about knitting a mask too... but knitted or crochet, even with cotton I think would be too warm for me! Plus my knitting mojo is down... I have a pair of socks that have needed heels since January.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
The reason why I asked is because a week or so ago I took a friend to the Farmers Market in Raleigh. There she bought a 4 oz bottle of hand sanitizer for $5.00. A price that I thought, at the time, was price gouging. Of course one has to remember that I have never bought hand sanitizer in my life. It still seems unreal that anyone would think an expensive bottle of that would be any protection at all. One would have to take a bath in it (full body) to have any impact at all and then remain naked. Our hands are only a small percentage of our bodies (unless you are @JenniferS ;), sorry Jennifer I just couldn't resist). We still have all the rest of our bodies, our clothes and everything that we touch. In order to cover it all we must wear gloves, which will also pick up the virus so we still can't touch any part of our bodies. It's just a guess but I would say that if the virus is anywhere near you, the length of time that hand sanitizer is effective is about 10 seconds tops. Just my opinion I know, but I've never heard an argument that proves otherwise.

Hospital workers, sure and even then it is repeated hundreds of times a day and other protective garb is used as well, when available! But for everyday life, it is somewhat effective on bacteria, but not so much on virus. I believe that is pretty much the job of our immune system to protect us from. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. Anyway, here's hoping you get to the store first in line.
Big hands ... big heart. Yeah, let’s go with that. 😂

I am talking about Aldi and a local grocer. No traffic direction. Usually waiting to check out. And, if you can't do 6 ft, you still shouldn't be standing so close to me, that I can feel you breathing on me. Even if none of this was happening, you shouldn't be that close in line.
I miss Aldi but unless I can rope drop it I avoid it because it's like Best Buy on Black Friday;)

I’ve never made a garden this size. Last year we only got one tomato from 9 plants, because of the deer. The deer did leave my basil, cilantro and dill alone luckily. I have more veggies and fruits for the first time, no large tomato plants.. I hope the deer stay away!!! I tried everything last year, nothing worked.
6 foot tall fencing ;) Most of my veggie plants go in earth boxes on my second floor deck

My sewing is the same way right now. I have a half finished dress I need to get to this week after making myself a mask or 4 out of cute fabric if I have any left. I still have elastic:eek: That stuff has been almost as hard to find as toilet paper:eek:

When we first moved to the house we are in now we had deer the only way to keep them out of the veggie garden was to fence it in. Last season I had peppers planted out side the fence and the deer found them ate all the leaves off. Deer also love to eat sweet potato plants. I've tried deer repellent sets but all I tried don't seem to work. Good luck with the deer

I’ve tried every repellent too..I even took hair out of my hair brush and laid it around the plants, and soap., nothing worked. I don’t think there’s anything that can actually keep them away, unless a physical barrier as you did.

A homemade deer repellent recipe

1 cup of milk
1 egg
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1 tablespoon dish soap
4 cups of water
1 gallon jug
Spray bottle

Add the ingredients to empty gallon jug. Place pitcher out in sun to ferment and allow aroma to start flowing. Put in spray bottle. Spray flowers , fruit trees , plants , around yard. Good idea to wear your Covid mask.

Alright I have all of my plants now-

2 Basil
2 Dill
1 Garlic chives
2 cucumber
2 spinach
1 kale
1 red pepper
1 spaghetti squash
1 Roma tomato
1 cauliflower
1 blackberry
2 blueberry
4 strawberry

I think I bought too much. Didn’t realize how much space they needed between them, and also have no idea if I’ll be able to keep them alive. Oh well, we’ll see what happens.

And the last set: We are hoping to got back next week. We have a reserved time. The tulips (all 38,000) should be in full bloom and the crab apples should be in bloom too. We will most likely have to stay in our car again but it is better than not being able to go at all.

So glad the arboretum allowed driving through. It would have been a shame if no one would have been able to see the beautiful tulips and daffodils. They are around for so short a time as it is.

I tried strawberry's in one location in my garden. Within two years the entire garden was taken over by the strawberry's. I didn't plan it that way, they just spread on their own, and the strawberry's were always tiny, about the size of a marble. I finally gave up and and built a storage shed on the spot my garden was and made the rest part of my lawn. I also had critter problems initially and found that spreading "dried blood" around the plants keep most of them away. Before that the best my string beans could do was to come up about two inches tall and two leaves on them and the next morning all I had were little green sticks sticking out of the dirt.
