Omg we are the same on all those counts. Ruthless with Monopoly! The family word was when Anthony stands up, it’s getting serious.I learned a long time ago that I'm better off not arguing with my friends over anything important. We can have philosophical debates, but I'm, err, rather passionate, and also, I argue like a lawyer, and I'm generally convinced I'm never wrong, and I don't know who I turn into during an argument, but I'm usually a nice person, but not when I'm trying to make a point...it's just better if you argue with me about frivolous thing, like which Star Wars movie is best, not anything important.
That, and most people should not play Monopoly with me. Quite frankly, that goes for most games, but especially Monopoly. I asked one of my best friends, who I've been friends with since I was 18, recently if we ever played a game together. She said yes. I was like, "Really? And we're still friends?"
So really, there's two things that only my dad should do with me: talk politics and play Monopoly.
We have no amazon devices. I turned off Siri on my phone. Oldest will discuss stuff and on her Instagram she will say that an ad popped up that was related to what we were talking about. She knows they “spy”.
More rain tomorrow and everyday which means floods!!!! So happy and it will probably be like last year with 5 million 90 degree days.
I can't tell if you are truly happy or being snarky.
They know there's a button on top of the Echos to make them not listen, right? I turn that on so my mom can't drop in on me when I'm on conference calls. My mom has chemo brain, and we’re pretty sure it’s early dementia at this point. I had bought her a couple of Echo devices a year ago, to help with grocery lists, setting reminders, etc. She didn’t want to use them at first, but then found their convenience. My sister had given her the Fitbit that same Christmas, then this year she gave her an Echo show and the Echo clock. Then I recently gave 2 Fire sticks to my parents, when social distancing started.
They like the convenience and reminders, but don’t like the spying, my dad unplugs the echo in the kitchen, Almost every time he’s on the phone, or discussing financials.lol. Siri creeps my mom out on her phone, especially the ads.. but yet she still loves her iPhones, my dad has an iPhone too, but still complains that Blackberry was superior.. he has Siri turned off.
Want to know what happens to the brain when you get older. Today all I had to do was figure out what time I should return to the laundry room to pick up my finished laundry. I put the stuff in the dryer and looked at my watch, noted the time and then checked on how long the dry cycle was (72 minutes). Then I returned to my apartment and spent over 15 minutes trying to figure out what time it would be if I started the dryer at 8:26am and it finished 72 minutes later. Simple you think. You are correct but I could not kick my brain into the mode required to figure it out. All my life I have been able to do complex math in my head, today I couldn't even work a simple one out on paper. Aging sucks big time! And if you don't think that is scary.. think again.

That is such a dad thing...Yes, my mom uses it. My dad just unplugs.
