Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Door County health department today decided to close down all camping grounds through May 15th despite the governor called the camping grounds an essential. Basically if there is an outbreak, the health department would not allowing camping.

I'm a bit surprised at about Alpine Resort myself since I first went to Door County back in the 1980s when I was a kid. I never stayed at a resort in Egg Harbor, but I stayed in Fish Creek. There are businesses in Door County that that have been around for a long time and Alpine resort is one of them.

My mom's late uncle and his late wife owned a home in Fish Creek that they stayed during the summer with us visiting them.

Based on the article I read, it seems to be a Visa work thing with Alpine. I am referring to this: https://doorcountypulse.com/alpine-resort-wont-open-in-2020/

Many a weekend spent at Alpine in my youth.

It is an imagination thing. My Sis is an immigration attorney. She is looking for this to be lifted (hunch). NOTE not a political statement but for her reasoning for motivation to allow those visas and lift the ban on shutting down boarder order. She said it was short sighted. It has been pushed through for approval however the Feds in charge are shut down. 35,000 short term. There has been criticism though as these workers are seasonally employed by Mr President at his Golf courses, resorts Winery etc. A year ago unemployment was low so there was at least that argument. Now we hit the 22 million unemployed. It is going to be a harder sell to the unemployed

From what she is seeing the push to get America back working is going to win over Virus spreading concerns. She also believes if by June sometime Resort/Golf states like Florida the Feds will process those immigration Visas There are three basic ones. J1. F1 H2B. Disney uses J1. Trump International is more seasonal labor H2B. Our sports teams especially baseball is type P which is mostly what my Sis’ firm handles.

This whole thing is a can of worms for everyone.

It’s crazy!! I seem to be having better luck with UPS over FedEx, but don’t have a choice when ordering.
The cornhole set is super frustrating because I actually paid for shipping so it would be here in time, and I received an email Tuesday morning saying it would be delivered by the end of the day. Didn’t come, so I checked the next morning and read that it went from Cincinnati to Independence Kentucky. I live north of Cincinnati, but the package went south???🤦‍♀️

Does your latest update look something like this?

Look at this progression, doesn’t make sense, and has been sitting still since Tuesday.

Mine is much WORSE than that. So to update the saga -- after criss-crosssing the United States for over 7 days (last Weds.), it then went from Weds. night to upstate New York, then (yesterday) down to western MA, to (last night) down to Connecticut??!! :banghead: No, I'm not kidding. Supposedly it's en route up to my address by the end of today -- yah, I'll believe that . . .

I've come to the conclusion that Fedex likes its packages to "visit" every freaking state in the union before it actually gets delivered!!! Fedex sucks. UPS or US Mail are so much better. (Like yourself, I had no choice in shipper.)

This has really made those young ones think about what taking care of the sick could really mean.
It's sad, really. They can be such heroes, so it's sad when they are second guessing that. But I totally understand. It must be scary to watch in the medical industry...lack of supplies, losing patients and even colleagues. Most get into it to help people and make a difference, never really thinking they might be risking their lives to do that.

Has anyone else done curbside at Michaels?

I was 9th car in line. The associates are running their bums off. I tried to tip the guy who brought my stuff out, he said they’re not allowed to accept tips. I wonder why.
Probably because they have a standard wage and there's no way for the employer to record tips for income tax purposes. Tips have to be reported to the IRS as income. Since it's not normally a tipped position, they might have problems with that.

It could also have to do with germs on cash?

Yep. I predicted protests and unrest.,,And that’s exactly what happened. You can hear the protesters during the daily conferences now. I think the politicians have realized that Americans are getting antsy & angry, and need to start to resume some type of normalcy. There will still be a lot of rules in place on social distancing, and not everything will open, but, it’s a step in the right direction.

The possibility of a pandemic was announced by the government 15 years ago. Ideally, we all should have seen this coming, a pandemic every hundred years.

Americans only should be angry at the lack of preparedness.

I have bad luck with the USPS crisscrossing the whole South. I have had a pkg get one town over to be sent to another city 5 hours away and back again!🤣
