I haven't been in about 23 years! I looked at the Luxor because it was so cheap, but then I looked at the walk up to the busy part of the strip and determined it was a hike... and I looked up an uber... and it was $22 for 2 miles... and decided I'd rather just pay for a more expensive hotel closer to the action. In the long run it'll be better for us because hubby will be able to take a nap when he wants to.
Just walking from a hotel to the hotel/casino next door is a hike. It's hard to believe because they all look so close to each other.

Last time we were there was 1994 -- stayed right in the center, at the Mirage. We loved it! Splurged for a gorgeous jr. suite that was so posh, that I can't even imagine what the full suites were like. Also, the prices were so cheap, it was no more money than a regular hotel room -- in a city someplace elsewhere.

And I definitely agree with you -- stay where you can easily walk around to all the hotels/casinos. (Kinda reminds me of staying on-property at WDW, versus commuting from an off-hotel site.) :) Very excited for your upcoming birthday trip extravaganza!

Yesterday, Jan. 1:

Before putting everything away, I took:
One last look at the Christmas tree with all the lights on and decorations . . .
One last look at Nativity scene on the accent table . . .
One last look at the nutcracker from Germany, that spruced up my indoor plants area . . .
One last look at the Christmas tablecloths in kitchen, and the stack of holiday china to put away.

I hate it when the Christmas season is over. 😢

My stuff is still out because the boys are not ready to pull it down. My "big" project for today is pulling my make 9 for this year:joyfull:

Because we had a real tree, I needed to get mine down yesterday, and put out on the side of the street. The city guys come by with the chipper machines on trash day, and that's today on my street.
I have to admit to being a bit of a Grinch this year. I didn't put up anything. I don't usually do much anyway. I have a small self decorated table top tree that I put up usually and a family lighted Santa from my youth, held together with careful handling and scotch tape that I have out yearly. But, this year the spirit never struck me so it stayed in my garage and survived another year. I do all the visiting in the family. My kids are close by, but are right out straight with their own families and really have no need to come to my place often so I'd be decorating only for myself and, like I said, I just wasn't in the mood. Maybe next year, if I am still not lawn fertilizer, I will feel more like doing something more. I suspect that with the exception of my gut and my ears, everything has shrunk down to three sizes too small. 😐

It's totally okay to not get "into" Christmas. Doesn't make you a grinch at all. Plus, now you have nothing to clean up and put away for another year, so win!
