Dumbo was a short wait

I had been using genie plus and it was time for Peter Pan finally. I arrived to this line for the lightning land

Yes that is A line in front of me and not just a mob of people. The ride must have gone down and everybody was returning for their lightning lane or perhaps it was just lots of crowds arriving at the same time. it did move fast though. probably a 10 to 15 minute wait total.

In fairness to genie plus this was the 1st time The lightning lane had a significant backup.

My only issue (and it's property wide, not just Toledo) is the lack of enforcing the smallest measure of dress code. I know that sounds snobby. But I'm talking about backwards baseball Caps and cargo shorts with flip flops.

You wanna wear a t shirt‽ fine. Not that serious. Golf style shorts‽ no big deal. Sneakers‽ Go for it. But a baseball cap indoors, backwards, and at night, in a fine dining restaurant?? Why?? Are you keeping the sun off the back of your neck? Flip Flops‽ This isn't a food court or the resort pool.
can I like this about 1000x? I admittedly tend to rant about this as well, when most people just shrug and consider it irrelevant or not their business, so I empathize. It's just that so few places left have any sort of dress code at all...I feel protective of the ones who do.

I have another related issue: seeing posts by people on these boards WHINING about how - despite a clearly posted dress code online and at entrance - the hostess or manager at some restaurant or during formal night in a cruise ship dining room had the "nerve" to remind them about the dress code and ask them to comply when they flip flopped their way in, demanding to be seated.

aaaand petty rant over (for now.)
Glad your dinner experience was awesome.

Do we really want to downgrade these experiences with people in flip flops and inappropriate clothing ?
Or with people who appear to have not showered or groomed themselves in days?
As a native Floridian, I honestly feel like this has become the norm, rather than the exception around my neck of the woods. People seem to think living in a warm climate gives them the perfect rationale to look and smell like...(insert favorite descriptor here) 24/7. We're talking weddings, funerals, baptisms, graduations, high end restaurants, live theatre performances. I now hate flip flops with a passion. 🤢

(Of course, 99 out of 100 times, the hostess or manager caves and makes a "one time" exception. Sigh.
Im going to make a Sexist comment here and its ok because I'm a Man! 100% of the times I have taken clients out to somewhere that requires a certain attire......Collard Shirt or Jacket and no jeans or shorts. it a MAN that is the problem. Disney should do what all places that have a code of dress provide a really bad fitting old smelly Jacket for a small fee or forego your reservation.

When we started going to WDW in 1973, our parents always packed special clothes for dinner and or events that called for it.

I will also add that at the prices Disney charges for Vacations and Special places of Dinning if you cant afford to have those clothes then you probably shouldn't be eating there in the first place.

ok I'm off my soap box.

On my way outbof MK I saw the step sisters were out doing they're thing. Always fun to watch them.

And i stopped at the confectionary too. There's something relaxing about watching them make the sweet treats.

My original plan was to have lunch over at Geyser Point but the weather changed that. I decided to head to Epcot via Monorail and see what would I could get.

20220122_130636.jpg

When I tapped my band to get in, it kept turning blue. Then the CM asked if I was park.hopping. I said yes, then she reminded me that I had to wait until 2 pm. I didn't even think about that before I left MK!! I'm such an idiot.

I explained to the CM that I was staying at BW and just wanted to get to the room. She told me to hit the bus stop and get a bus. I told her that they were not running busses to BW since it's walking distance. I asked if there was a y other possible way to get there, and with a very rude tone she said, you're just gonna have to get back on the monorail and go to MK and then get a bus. In fairness, she was correct and it was my mistake for not realizing the time (it was appx 1:15 pm), but she was just flat out rude and didn't care at all.

A few years ago, I was on a trip with my mom and C Minor (my niece) and we had taken a bus from Geand Floridian to Epcot to get back to our BW room and when we arrived at Epcot they had ready stopped letting people in for the day as everybody was exiting after Illuminations had just ended. We explained to the CM our situation of just trying to get back to the room and she checked with security and gave us the ok to e ter and head back to the room. And this when the park had closed.

But no so lucky today. Then I came up with a plan! I chirped a Lyft and headed to a new lunch destination!

Riviera! Inhad such a good meal at Bar Riva the other day, I figured go back and try something else.

I took some pics of the lobby for C.

I really like that they have a coffee shop in the lobby.

I think the no park hopping rule until 2pm is stupid. I understood when there were boarding groups for Rise and Rat but now that those are gone the time could be changed (or even better eliminated). When I was at Disneyland this summer the time for park hopping was 1pm (their second boarding group was at noon) better than 2pm.

Cntd...

I previously the chicken sandwich at Bar Riva and it was excellent. Chris, the bartender had also recommended the Italian sandwich as well and thats what I was gonna get.

When I arrived, it was good to see Chris was working again!

I ordered a 1664 to drink. And also the Italian Sandwich with fries.

I definitely agree. There doesn't seem.to be any valid reason to keep the 2 pm rule in place. Perhaps I'm missing something tho.

And I think the CM could've at least tried to see if it would be OK to let me in, especially since it was close to 2 pm. But in the end, it was my mistake. Stupid 2 pm rule.
