The Boat House construction at Disney Springs The Landing

Down here now, it looks beyond horrible. I've taken a lot of photo's around DTD/Pleasure and none of them do justice to how icky the place is now. The only OK-ish thing is the dock they built for the resort ferries. Nothing like a plumbers tushie hanging out over the World of Disney as you enter the place. Bad. The whole area looks like a war zone.

This was my first view arriving by ferry.

Sorry I disagree with your observation. I was there same time as you were and if you stay within the grounds walls and not look by ferry, it all looks fine. We heard no noise, and saw no workers hanging around the three days we were at DTD. Yes you could see the garage being built and some of the new bridge across the pond, but it's far from a war zone, looks wise if you stay within the construction walls.

They don't seem to be working during the weekends at the same labor levels. This could explain the difference of opinions. During weekdays the construction workers are like flies especially before 3pm.

I've previously posted the lake photo's from the ferry. These are from the sidewalks while walking DTD and pleasure island

I don't know how anyone can't see or hear this mess. Doesn't look fine or magical to me.

It isn't only my photo's but everyone else who have been posting photo's. It is a massive construction sight. They were banging the roof on Starbucks on the World of Disney and you could see the gentlemen working above the construction walls. At Lego area you could barely hear the person next to you as the construction sight is right on top of the venue. I am hearing impared and I could hear construction and see construction. Very little is contained by the walls, almost every element is far taller than the construction walls. Rainforest was anything but pretty or quiet. No way would I have spent 3 days in this mess like you did.

I didn't realize that Disney's shopping/entertainment district had to be magical. I could have sworn that was a claim that only the Magic Kingdom had. Disney is NOT trying to hide this construction in any form, and that helps with the speed.

I guess that is everyone's own perspective. My son's first magical meet with Mickey was at DTD met Santa and the Easter Bunny there too. Maybe not magical to you but certainly to my kid.
Even the parks are becoming a melting pot where what was once only in the Magic Kingdom is now appearing in the balance of the parks and shopping districts. There are no longer clear lines of separation as there once were. Heck they even have a Character Spot in Future World these days and while I was in Ecpot a 5 hour line to see Elsa in the World Showcase. We have had some magical times in DTD, Pleasure and the West Side over the years.

As you saw by the quote I was responding to we had very different perspectives the same week. I saw construction workers and heard noise the other member did not. I see construction workers and heavy machinery in my photo's. I've never been on a quiet construction sight. The other member could not see from the sidewalks what I saw from the sidewalks. The reason for my post, pictures document it.

What is the alternative? Not building anything? Closing the whole area until construction is complete? Both would probably work, but they would also upset a lot of people too. The biggest problem WDW has with new construction is that nobody wants it to impact them, but that's not possible.

Construction is one thing. Dragging on construction is another. This entire area has been under construction since at least 2011. They can change the scale from Hyperion, that doesn't erase how long it has been a construction zone with heavy equipment and construction walls. So the alternative is to not drag projects out 5-6 years. RainForest just had come out from behind constructions walls and was once again welcoming and then look at how it looks again.

Very poor planning and execution.

We were there after 3pm, so maybe that helped the first day. But the other two days we were there early enough to be bothered by the construction...but we just weren't. Maybe we just accepted what was going on around us.
We don't go to Disney that often, now that my parents are gone and the kids are grown. For 15 years we went every other year, but now it's up to 5 to 7 years. So I do expect to see DS done the next time I visit :)Here's hoping

PS: Never hit the Pleasure Island section, so I guess I won't miss something I never experienced before.

This post is a big leap from your very first post, this post I would not have had an issue with. Nor had I noticed it was a members very first post ever, I am normally more cautious with hard line first posts like that.

Not bothered by it is completely different from saying there were not construction workers, that you couldn't see the construction aside from the dock and couldn't hear the construction. Accepting construction is fine, challenging what I saw another. Simply I could back up my post with photographs.

But welcome to the sight, hope you enjoy your time with us.

Sorry I didn't mean to ever dispute what you saw and is obviously going on now at DTD.
It's just that my wife and I were not at all bothered by it and really enjoyed our time there.
As I said before I am looking forward to visiting again when DS is completed in a few years.

Now that is very possible. Yay!!! I was speaking to Springs venue, not the parking garages as they are very separate projects. I've been looking at the DTD and Pleasure Island areas this week, didn't venture into the parking lot, value my life too much for that, it is a major mess out there. But a very good point! That portion of the project is not being funded by Disney, it is being funded with public funds, so I have no doubt whatsoever that that parking garages would have full construction crews since Disney isn't footing the bill for them. Good to hear there are some General Contractors out there that know what they are doing.

does anyone have any actual information on this? i highly doubt this is true, unless they are meaning by the reedy creek district

if anything i'd think paying with public funds would make construction slower NOT faster

Guys, please keep this on discussion. There are other threads for general Disney Springs discussion. This thread is for Boat House construction. Thanks
