The 60th Anniversary of Disneyland: The Reality of it All

It's not old, but compared to Festival of Fantasy, pretty much everything looks dated to me.

Which is kind of ironic, considering FOF has two major units lifted from a 2008 parade. The design aesthetic is totally different from FOF, which is much more ornate - Jody and Kevin designed Soundsational and Happiness is Here (TDL). They're night and day different from FOF, so it's probably more design preference versus actual datedness.

Yeah soundsational has a "paper sculpture" aesthetic so all of the units are slightly flat and abstracted. I actually prefer soundsational over FOF due to the fact that there is a very consistent design thread. FOF just seems all over the map a bit. Kind of lush. Kind of ornate. Kind of circus. There's a bit of a music box vibe with the turning keys of little mermaid and finale but that's not even consistent throughout.

Haunted wind sound has been there as long as I can remember. If you go watch an older video of it on Youtube, it's definitely there.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I have never ridden, going in August. I guess I am just excited for the updates to be revealed.

Matterhorn is a ride I have been dreaming of riding since I saw a picture of it when I kid in the 70's. I loved everything at WDW so much and when I found out only Disneyland had it I new I had to go. Fast forward to 35 years later and it's going to happen.

Awesome day for the Haunted Mansion. Glad that a once failed effect, with the help of modern technology, can now be appreciated by fans once more. Would love for this to be brought to Magic Kingdom's someday.

To be honest, I would rather this stay just in Disneyland. It's a piece of Disneyland history and it should belong in Disneyland for that reason. But that's just my opinion. ;)

Yeah, that is true. I did read that a second hatbox ghost was made for Magic Kingdom, but never installed. Though, I do like the idea of the hatbox ghost being special to Disneyland for the time being.
