Pleased to hear that there will indeed be a official live webcast of the new nighttime entertainment on Thursday night, though i will resist the temptation to watch ( i want to be surprised in person in August ).
It is still nice knowing that will be happening for those that want to gather around and watch from afar.

East Coast folks will need to have their own 'late night party' as the timing works out to be about 12:30 am for the start of 'Paint The Night' if i am counting my hours correctly.
How many of you are planning on staying up that late to catch the first public showing...?
Drink lots of coffee!
;)

Also noticed over the last few days the sudden influx of slams against Kim Irvine.
A bit surprised by all the sudden 'hate' in the fan community....i was under the impression she was well respected ?
She is a long standing member of 'Team Baxter' and Tony would trust her with his most important pet projects in his later years.
Why is she suddenly being labeled public enemy number one all of a sudden?
Not trying to stir up trouble or debate, more just a honest curiosity at the shift in attitude towards her efforts.

Irvine has been in charge of several poorly received projects in recent years. She was in charge of adding characters and the hideous America room to small world while reducing the original rainforest room to an afterthought. She was in charge of the decidedly un-period Market House redo with mass produced art on the walls. She orchestrated the redo of Club 33 which made the Court of Angels a private space, added a huge off-center window above Cafe Orleans and compromised the scale and style of NOS in several places. She is seemingly obsessed with art nouveau (it has also found its way to Main Street in the Gibson Girl), which is not a historically accurate style in New Orleans.

Now she's replaced the whimsical ice crystals and Frank Wells tribute with a sculpted self-referential garbage heap, so a lot of fans with an eye toward WDI's history hold her in low regard.

I'm sure she's a lovely person and I certainly don't begrudge anyone employment, but I personally have found most of her recent projects to be woefully off the mark.

If I'm counting correctly it would 11:30 PM ET right?

Thanks for the recent rundown.
I can understand how these example could upset some folks.
Perhaps Kim was not entirely responsible for some of this, though...?
Perhaps she was strong armed by upper management to produce these results that they, clueless as some of them are in regards to Disneyland proper, insisted on for dubious reasons?
I'm sure there must be more to the story.

I am glad you brought up the 'Small World' re-do, as after experiencing it again a few weeks ago i was questioning yet again why it was felt that Disney characters needed to be included at all.
I remember there was a huge debate and uproar about this when it happened a few years back, but i never heard from anyone what the projected reason was supposed to be for TDA deciding to change the Attraction.

So i will ask here....
What was the reason at the time being said to be the motivation for adding Disney characters to 'It's a Small World'..?
Why 'mess' with a beloved, original Attraction...and change it to a 'Where's Waldo' type of experience..?

4 hour difference coast to coast...or am i adding a hour because the coffee i am currently drinking has not yet had an effect on me...?

Well, whatever the time....it will be a late night for East Coast folks.
Like i said, drink lots of coffee.
Stay awake, and watch !

It's difficult to know whether the projects Kim has spearheaded were solely her ideas creatively, or if she was following orders. The consistency in her efforts leads me to believe that she is at least partially responsible. For example, redoing Club 33 was no doubt a corporate order. But did management force her to use an incongruous art direction? Did they force her and her team to make a giant off-center window? Likely not.

As to why small world was changed, I have no idea other than that current management is obsessed with pumping characters into everything. The characters aren't as objectionable to me as the America room, which is a travesty.

What was the America room previously? The Toy Story characters were the worst of the bunch, but I kind of liked the rest. Especially the way their music was incorporated. I feel IASW is long enough that even though there are a lot of characters it didn't seem to take away from the classic presentation. I understand the idea of not wanting to touch such a classic ride though.

It was previously the Rainforest room.

NOS is my favorite area of the park, and finally seeing the changes that have been made there is the one thing I'm not looking forward to during my next visit. I've seen photos, but that's not the same as actually walking back to find the Court of Angels blocked by doors.

So there is a rumor floating around that may relate to the 60th ...take it for what it's worth from your own perspective, be it with a grain of salt or not :

'Captain Eo' is rumored to return to the Disneyland's Magic Eye Theater after the 'Tomorrowland' film Preview ends it's run.
The film is rumored to be getting a digital upgrade, as well as have it's original laser effects added back into the theater.

Again, take it for what you will.
Rumors are rumors...but thought this might be worth mentioning here.
