The 1st UNofficial WDWMagic Member's Cruise!

One Little Spark...
Also, if there are a few families that want to join in on this one, we could always link up a different group of tables for them for dinner! Then families could still cruise with other members, and the adults could join in on the adult activities too! :)
I'd suggest that planning out "pool time swaps" be an idea as well.

With a few members watching over the kids in the pool area while adults do more adult things.

I, for one, wouldn't mind essentially "babysitting" (not day 1 of course) for a few hours if some of the moms or dads wanted to sneak off to the spa or something. And, since I'd most likely be traveling as a single parent, I would appreciate being able to offload the kid for a few hours and spend some time with peers knowing she was having fun with caring adults hovering, and knowing she isn't just stuck in the kid's clubs (not that there's anything wrong with the kid's clubs).

Just a thought?

No No No, double NO. While I appreciate the concept, the potential for liability is huge. With Disney you have recourse, with a fellow traveler who has no vested interest in your family, what do you have? I'm not trying to be rude, but think about it.

With Disney I have recourse? Bollocks.

What am I gonna do, sue them for a skinned knee? I'm not proposing a 2 or younger be left under the purvue of strange adults in a public venue, but I have no issue with leaving my now 9 year old kid with a person (in a public venue) to watch over them for a few hours while I go do something else.

It's no different than leaving them in a kid's club, or...in an elevator with a Disney Employee (yeah, I said it)...

Anyhow, I hear your point (liability and responsibility in case something goes wrong)...I just think it's a sad representation of the times when that is the primary concern, rather than the far more common community and general fun.

It was just an idea, since I know my kiddo enjoyed the pool far more than she did the kid's clubs.

@englanddg I wasn't talking about a skinned knee and you didn't mention your 9 year old. If that's the case, find one or two families to make friends with and go from there. On my end, its more of me and self-reliance than having others do a job I want done. I hope no offense was taken.

None was. Nothing you said was offensive at all. I'm just tossing out ideas.

I got your point, and I agree. My 9 year old is more than capable of running to her wave phone and calling me up if she needs me. A younger child, not so much.

I think where we crossed concepts was that I imagined a few wdwmagic families watching their own kids (and, i can guarantee, I'd be one of them, as the kiddo loves the pools!), while they played in the pool, and it would give an alternative to the Kid's Clubs (were a family cruise to happen).

You may have misunderstood and thought I meant a "running service" or something...I meant it within the confines of a "get together" cruise. I wouldn't expect someone to trust me with their child before they met me, however if I'm hanging out around the pool keeping an eye on my kiddo, why shouldn't I be able to do so for others while they go off and have some alone time?

Note i said "not on day 1" since we'd all need to meet each other first, etc. I like you, know your background, but still I'm not letting you watch my kid for an hour or two before I have at least met you.

I'd suspect any parent would feel the same.

@Disneyfalcon 2015! Good grief I am still working on 2013. Magic in 8, Dream in 16. Probably will seriously consider it but I usually book onboard or at least in the Florida resident discount window. I might cruise often but I am cheap. I saw your group on the all girl cruise so I know it will be fun.
