Trip Report The “No Trip” Trip Report *COMPLETED*

There are pre-trip reports.

There are trip reports.

I’d like to welcome you to what I believe might be the first “No Trip” trip report.

My name is Tuvalu. Ok, that’s not my real name (it’s not “Shirley” either 😉) but it’s how I’m known here on WDWMagic. For the past six years I have contributed a lot of trip reports in this forum. A lot! Along the way I have met so many wonderful people and made new friends, some of whom I have had the privilege of meeting in person. Honestly the reason why I write is for you, the reader, because I cherish our interactions. (Getting to re-live my trip is just a bonus!)

My husband Woody, my daughter Em and I were supposed to be leaving for our Spring Break trip to WDW tomorrow. Of course we are sad we cannot go (and our doing our part to keep ourselves and others safe) but remain confident we WILL get to go back sometime in the future.

I had been contemplating going “live” for our trip. Woody and Em are not fans of my reporting “live” since my attention is diverted from enjoying vacation with them. However this idea for a “No Trip” trip report came straight from Woody himself!

So for the next week, if you‘d like to Journey into My Imagination and read about what could have been, I’ll be here.

@Mr Ferret 88, @Laura Loves Tigger and @93boomer you are all.....

Woody, Em and I are excited to check out this year’s Flower and Garden Festival. Will it be “lipstick on a pig” like I feared in a previous TR? Or will the beauty of the topiaries and floral plantings mask the hideous walls?

I purposely avoided looking at pictures of F&G when it opened last month. Wanted to be surprised.

Can’t say I am even the slightest bit impressed by whatever this area is supposed to be. I know space has been reduced, but for a FIRST IMPRESSION of Flower & Garden 2020....the “Welcome” display is just sad.

Getting anywhere from Spaceship Earth (the center spot of Future World) now looks like this:

Woody, Em and I successfully navigate the maze to reach The Land pavilion ~ home of our first two Fastpasses. We are near the end of the window for our first one (Tip to remember: Allow extra time for maze navigation!) We tap in and discover our FASTpass is really a SLOWpass. Great balls of fire, this line is long! Shouldn’t all 3 theaters be up and running during Easter week?!

At last we’re buckled into our glider.

Yeah, we’re on the end. Bring on the CURVES!!

My first viewing of Soarin’ Over the World brought me to tears. Of course I was seated directly dead-center and was awed by the majestic scenery and wildlife, as well as iconic locations around the globe that I will never see in real life.

My “high” was quickly shattered when someone commented, “You know it’s all CGI?”

NO I DID NOT KNOW IT WAS ALL CGI! I mean I probably would have figured it out eventually (looking at you, Taj Mahal!) but as a first-timer I wanted to be happy in my little Soarin’ bubble for awhile. Now with multiple viewings under my belt, I still enjoy it but the abrupt scene changes (not as seamless as in the original, IMO) bother me. (But not as much as the Taj Mahal....if you can’t film the real one, don’t include it in the film!)

We pop into the facilities (no flowers) before FP #2.

It’s a busy day when the standby for The Farm Ride is 40 minutes. Happy to report that our Fastpass was truly FAST.

Woody, Em and I have our own bench. No clueless strangers attempt to join us. (Yes this has happened. More than once!)

We never tire of a cruise through the greenhouses. Always something new to see and admire.

Take a gander at these sunflowers!

After exiting The Land we hook a left, pass Stroller City, and find ourselves here.

Tuvalu enters the building and is immediately stricken with blindness.

Walking on that curved boardwalk in dim lighting is challenging enough, but my transition lenses take forever to change to clear. I have to hold someone’s hand during this part of the queue or I’ll end up bruised!

CMs claim the seashells hold 3, but that’s a little too cozy for us. Woody tells me to sit with Em while he rides alone. The complaining starfish at the end of the ride is my favorite part.

Figgy Fastpass time!

Putting the Figment topiary in front of his attraction makes sooo much sense! Why did it take years for Disney to discover this?

We wind our way through another maze and are back on the main drag, where we stop to admire two displays.

Bambi and friends made the long trip here from Canada. Took them a whole year!

The crew is hungry.

Em’s choice for lunch.

Since it’s such a gorgeous day, we want to dine outside. Eagle-eye Em spies a table that is getting wiped down. I know what she wants to eat (she always orders the same thing at La Cantina) so Woody and I get on line.

Empanadas con Queso for Em.

Tacos de Barbacoa for Woody.

Sopa de Fideos con Pollo for me.

It has been 9 months since Em and I have lounged around the Geyser Point pool.

It’s warm and sunny.

The rest of World Showcase can wait. The pool is calling!

Happy that this landscape is as lovely as ever. Yet it doesn’t really divert attention from the construction zone behind it.

Walking through the maze (again!) to get to the bus stop is a PIA. Wish we could ride the Skyliner to the Wilderness Lodge!

It occurs to me whilst on the bus that I don’t need to worry if our room has been serviced yet or not. (I always experience housekeeping stress when we return to our room mid-afternoon.) We’d made our beds this morning and hung up the towels. We were the mousekeepers!

Woody opts to relax in the room (code for “I need a nap”) while Em and I soak up the sun.

With those crowds, I'd imagine lots of things are slowpasses on Easter week, even with 3 theaters running. Although, it's NO PASS right now ahem. :banghead:

Why did it take years for Disney to discover this

This is one of the most common sense things! You'd think Disney would have figured this out early!

Mr. Goofy, tear down this wall

I'm a history buff Millennial. So I love your reference!

Sorry you are under the weather! Hope the soup helped and Poly and Kona are being very-well cared for while you are on this adventure!

Our goal tonight is to see fireworks! But we have a couple things to do first.

A sunset cruise to the Magic Kingdom....

347A5A32-1C67-4B48-9F71-CA5777470673.jpeg

....then a comfort-food dinner.

12E05B31-5F2B-49DF-9BB1-4734B3BCED8A.jpeg

The Pilgrim’s Feast is only available at lunch. Unless you have #ShirleyStatus.

There’s been another modification to Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake.

Woody and Em rave about it. I take a pass, since I’m not sure my tummy can handle it.

Earlier I snagged a FP for The Wildest Ride in the Wilderness. I know my tummy can handle this!

Shirley requests a private train. The request is honored.

ED3151FF-FC01-4B20-B5FB-D787E1EF0EE7.png

We squeal in the darkness. I know the train travels at the same speed day or night, but it feels faster at night!

We arrive at our fireworks viewing location a few minutes before Happily Ever After begins. It’s only been two months since we stood in this spot with Kel, yet it seems SO. MUCH. LONGER. (Can you relate? 😉)

Our favorite way to end a Disney day. ❤

Wonder what tomorrow will bring?
