Trip Report The “No Trip” Trip Report *COMPLETED*

There are pre-trip reports.

There are trip reports.

I’d like to welcome you to what I believe might be the first “No Trip” trip report.

My name is Tuvalu. Ok, that’s not my real name (it’s not “Shirley” either 😉) but it’s how I’m known here on WDWMagic. For the past six years I have contributed a lot of trip reports in this forum. A lot! Along the way I have met so many wonderful people and made new friends, some of whom I have had the privilege of meeting in person. Honestly the reason why I write is for you, the reader, because I cherish our interactions. (Getting to re-live my trip is just a bonus!)

My husband Woody, my daughter Em and I were supposed to be leaving for our Spring Break trip to WDW tomorrow. Of course we are sad we cannot go (and our doing our part to keep ourselves and others safe) but remain confident we WILL get to go back sometime in the future.

I had been contemplating going “live” for our trip. Woody and Em are not fans of my reporting “live” since my attention is diverted from enjoying vacation with them. However this idea for a “No Trip” trip report came straight from Woody himself!

So for the next week, if you‘d like to Journey into My Imagination and read about what could have been, I’ll be here.

I'm not sure this whole new world was what Aladdin was wanting to show us. I could be wrong, but wasn't it supposed to be something about a magic carpet ride? True, the unbelievable sights and indescribable feelings could apply to both good and bad, but that whole "No one to tell us no, or where to go" doesn't seem to fit.
Oh I’m sure there will be plenty of cast members telling us where to go....;) 🤣

Thanks for the update! :)
I'm glad you've decided on keeping your plans for a July visit, but boy, are you right about "LIMBOLAND", waiting for news from Disney has been frustrating. We never received any word from Disney about our canceled-by-them May trip either, at this point, we don't even know if we'll be able to modify by adding a few more nights to our existing Aug/Sept resort stay 🤷‍♀️. We are on the same boat about giving the new guidelines a try and see how we'll feel about the "new" experience.

I hope you and Em get to stay at your beloved WL, that you'll get park reservations, and that you'll enjoy your visit as much as possible. Please continue to keep us posted.
Maybe I can give you the FARTS AP magnet in August? Although so many puzzle pieces must fall in place for that to happen. 😔 Agree it is so frustrating that modifications aren’t even allowed yet.

Thanks for the well wishes, my friend.

It sure seems Disney is too big for its own good. This really has been a mess and the communication has been awful. I’m sad you can’t go in June but I’m glad you’re holding onto the July reservation. If we kept ours we would have just missed you. We were scheduled to leave on the 18th. I had the privilege/misfortune of canceling all our ADRs and FPs myself. It did hurt.
Im so hopeful that you and Em have a great trip by the pool. And maybe you can give us all the updates on the park reservation situation if that ever actually comes out.
Funny....I made the “seems Disney is too big for its britches” comment to Woody just this morning. The lack of communication has made me sad. I promise to update on the park/dining reservation system if it happens. (I’m not yet confident enough to say when.)

It really has been so disorganized the way Disney has handled the cancellations. We have an October trip and it was so sad to see all our dining reservations cancelled but hopefully we'll get new ones that will be just as good. It'll be interesting to see what new restaurants are open by then. It's going to be incredibly hot in July for your trip but hopefully you'll get the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful lobby at WL along with the nice pools. Sounds like they expect you to wear masks at the pool unless you're in the pool. :( I'll look forward to hearing all about your experiences.
I hope you are able to get back all your “lost” dining reservations and that park touring is more “normal” by October.
Em and I plan to spend our time in the pool. :angelic:

I have to be honest, if it is like my office, it’d be me telling people where to go ... under my breath of course 😉.

There are rumors that DLP will also open up mid-July, and if so I think my DD and I will go for a few days. If we drive on a weekday, it’s around a 5 hour drive from here.

I’d much rather be a regular Magician! (❤ @Darstarr)
Totally agree!
But, I will say, if I could be on a plane for opening day of the parks, and get a park reservation, I would be there in a heart beat.
Not many people can say to their grand and great grandchildren, "see those people in the masks, in front of Cinderellas Castle? That's me and grandpap"! We were there during the COVID-19 pandemic!
NYers are seen as lepers and expected to quarantine for two weeks. Huh???
Not logical at all.
There are a lot of states at this moment much more concerning than NY.
... under my breath of course 😉.
Oh where's the fun in that?!
The lack of communication has made me sad.
I don't even get this. There are people who will be arriving for their DVC reservations in a week and can't book dining yet?! I was playing with the dining reservations last night, some available on MDE, some only through OpenTable.

Thanks so much for the update! I have been thinking about you and Em. Hope u both have a wonderful time lounging by the pool, it sounds fabulous. I agree it will be too hot to spend much time in the parks with masks on.

Can't wait to read your trip report. Take "tons" of pictures.
I'll do my best!

Limboland is the worst!!! I hope they figure everything out sooner than later, they're opening in less than a month!

How we feel......

I'm seriously "Jones-ing" with withdrawal symptoms, from no current Tuvalu TR!!! :jawdrop:

They’re warm and definitely will help with any withdrawal symptoms.

Don’t ask how I know this.😁
Like everyone else, hoping you have a great trip. Can't wait to hear what the new World will be like. I'm cautiously optimistic about an early January trip to replace the cancelled 2020, but I'll just have to see. I appreciate you sharing so I have an honest idea. Thank you for all the knowledge you've shared over your reports.
You are very kind. I hope your January trip not only comes to fruition but is one of your best trips yet!

Well you're closer to a Disney park than we are.....Do it! (And a TR please. ;) 😊)

Wow I never thought of this! (Though we are supposed to go with the grand girls next year if things are more "normal".)

I hope everything goes well and you guys have an amazing trip. It would just be awesome to be able to be there, after all of this! We are pondering our return. If it looks like masks are going to remain a must do, for awhile - then I am definitely thinking it will be winter. I can’t stand to wear one just in the grocery store, as claustrophobic as I am. Maybe if it is cooler I would be okay. Good luck to you guys!

Thanks, @DisneyGigi.
Mask wearing in the July heat is the thing we are looking forward to the least.

A little gardener helped water our cherry tomato plants today.

Yes, the watering can is nearly as big as she is! But Tuvaleen is two and “I do it myself!”
Now that looks like a GREAT helper!! I am forbidden to have plants because I am a notorious plant killer, but if I did have any, I would want just such a helper!
