Trip Report That's OK- We Make Our Own Magic - COMPLETED

I've gone back and forth with myself over the last few months if I'd do a trip report at all since this wasn't the trip I envisioned, but I keep coming back to all of the photos I took and how it would be nice to share some of them. So, I guess I'm doing this. Still, I'm going to put this out there right now...there were a number of things that bothered me during our trip. Nothing was ruined or anything like that, but I am going to share both the good and the bad and it won't be sugar coated or pixie dusted. Still, it's been about 2.5 months since the trip, so some of my negativity has mellowed a bit too, so that'll help.

It's been a couple of years since I posted a trip report on here, so I'm a bit rusty with all of this. I didn't do one for our 2016 trip since it involved another Disney forum group and then we had a longer than average break from vacations because we went through a move. Yup, all that vacation money went into fun things like paint, carpet, etc.

First off...we moved out of our old house in late June, lived in a hotel (family of 4 plus a dog) for about a week and a half, and then moved into our new home in early July. About a month before the closing on our old house, my husband suggested we go to Disney for Christmas. We're not rookies and know this is not the ideal time for crowds and pricing, but it's what worked with everything else. Of course, this also meant I was dealing with 180 dining booking right as all of this moving stuff was hitting peak stress levels. Oh, and since my hubby didn't want me putting any $ into vacation stuff until we were in our new home, I didn't have the +10 luxury when booking dining. Nothing like being up at 4:45am CT for 8 days in a row as you're about a week out from a closing. We are also Houston area and live in part of town that was badly flooded by Hurricane Harvey, so there were a handful of days where I had to sit there wondering if we'd be dealing with more home things for our $ vs. vacation. We were very lucky and did not flood, but a week later, my family went through Hurricane Irma, so that was also super nerve wracking as well. Thankfully, everyone came out of that OK too, and it was pretty much smooth sailing until trip time.

So here are the details...
WHO: Me (Sandy), my husband David, my girls Samantha and Kendall...and for a portion of the trip, my brother, SIL, their kids and my parents.

38317552525_c152d9f71b_b.jpg

Yup, this is all of us just before being seated at 'Ohana.

WHEN: December 15th-24th (16th-23rd at WDW)
WHERE: The Swan...We knew we'd be between peak and holiday pricing for our trip, but after staying at POR in 2016, we decided we only want to stay Epcot area or monorail loop for future trips. I didn't feel like scaling back on our dining plans (a decision I'd regret), so I chose the Swan over a Disney resort. Even with all of the fees, the Swan's overall price per night was on par with the mods, but we got the great location, beds, and bigger rooms for the price.
WHAT: I bought 6 day single park tickets. While I do enjoy the flexibility with hoppers, I feel like we waste so much time hopping to justify the cost. So, we skipped them. We're also not DDP people, so it was OOP for us. My parents and brother are now APs, but decided TiW wasn't worth it to them after having it for a year, so we rely on passholder discounts and Disney Visa discounts for food.
HOW: Driving...it's a cost saver, but I've been asked that we fly for any future trips. I think everyone is kind of over the road trip.

So, if you've ever seen my past reports, you know I like a surprise. It's gotten to the point that the kids asked to be surprised. I knew they wouldn't be completely blindsided because I asked them for a bunch of feedback. So, this became more of a...you know it's coming, but you won't know when. At least planning things around the holidays makes it easier to have trip goodies delivered to your home without tipping them off.

I was excited for this one because I was finally going to get to do the surprise pick up at school. The kids go to different schools now, so it was a bit more challenging, but I was ready. It also helps that we celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah and with Hanukkah starting a few days before our trip, I had a few days where I could work in trip goodies into their gifts without making them suspicious. Honestly, the biggest challenge was packing. I had to take some time off from work, add things to suitcases that are in the closets in increments that wouldn't raise any eyebrows and then pull it all together in the few hours of school on the last day before Christmas break. Easy..right? Oh, and the last Hanukkah gift before the trip was Disney gift cards, and as far as the kids knew, we'd be heading to go shopping after school let out for break so they could spend them. I just never said where we'd be spending them. LOL :hilarious:

Samantha was the first to get picked up, but they were having a holiday party and I had to get the car ready. So, David went into the party while I prepped the vehicle. It looked better in my mind that it came out, but it still worked. I had light up mouse ears on the head rests, light necklaces draped around them, Disney plush, and obviously all of the luggage in the back.

39042458612_aa3b9b9ff7_k.jpg

Unfortunately, I completely screwed up the filming of the surprise reveal for Samantha. That being said, it was great! We totally got her and she was so giddy. I did get Kendall's surprise, but she's not as much fun because she claims she had it all figured out.

I did still have one surprise still up my sleeve that would totally get her- more on that a bit later.

We hit really bad traffic getting out of our town since all of the schools were letting out for the holidays, but once we were out, it was a pretty easy drive. Unfortunately, with the later start, there was no way we were going to make our goal of getting to Tallahassee. We couldn't leave any earlier because Kendall had exams, so we'd have to settle for spending the night in Pensacola. We woke up bright and early the next day and started heading towards Orlando. I absolutely hate the drive through the FL panhandle, but it is what it is. We also hit really bad traffic on I-75 due to an accident right before the FL Turnpike, but we made it to WDW by just after 3pm.

This one's a bit better...

*********************************************************

So, that's it for now. I normally speed through my TRs, but I have so much going on with work, house stuff, kid stuff, etc. that this might actually take me a while...especially once I get into the bulk of the pictures. All of this so far was done on my phone, which is just ok, but I finally got a new camera and lens. So, I took A LOT of pictures. Are they all amazing? No, but they're much better. :)

I also accidentally picked Large sizing for the photos on this first post. I promise to pick a more normal size for subsequent posts.

Coming up...More of Dec 16th- check in drama and excitement, a room with a view, parking, and dinner/fireworks plans.

So, we're walking in the WS in search of kid friendly holiday drinks.

They were still rocking out a bit in Morocco. While it had broken apart a bit by this point, they had quite the crowd as we were approaching...

Still walking...

By the time we got to America, it seemed pretty clear that all of the Festival of the Holiday booths were shuttered.

As David started asking around to CMs, I got caught up in Candlelight Processional.

It was really cool because it was that point where they're all singing outside of the theater as they slowly make their way in. LOVED being in the middle of the music!

In the process, I also found a good (well, as good as can be) option for Sam. Joffrey's had several holiday coffee options...so that was my answer. And while they ran off to get in line, I found a spot to take SSE and tree pics while listening into NPH start off CP. It's not the same as being in there, but it added a certain peace and magic to the frenetic pace of things in the park. He went through some of the same spiel as he did the other night, but his family was also in the audience for this show. So, that got a lot of cheers from the crowd. Meanwhile, I was doing my best to steady my camera and try and get some decent things (for me)...

Welcome home...

27500476319_f1785609cf_c.jpg

When we got back to our floor, we found several large industrial fans in the hallway around our room (like what you put out when things have flooded) as well as a rack of clothes outside the door of the room across from us. Bizarre! We didn't go to bed immediately because the kids were WIRED from that holiday coffee, but at some point, Sam comes out of the bathroom saying the toilet is broken...possibly clogged. And because of the coffee, she's giggling nonstop about all of it. OK...I expect this in a home (the toilet clogging, that is), but it's usually pretty rare in a large hotel with industrial strength plumbing...at least from my experiences. I also wonder if it was related to all of those fans out in the hall. Like were they having plumbing problems that night? Well, I called the front desk (phones were working) and they had a technician up to our room in less than 5 minutes. While it was a quick fix, he did have to open up the back of the toilet, so who knows.

Sorry it was just a small update tonight, but I wanted to wrap up the 21st. It's going to be a busy week, but I'm hoping to start on the 22nd at some point. Coming up- our last day in the parks (MK day) starting at 7am! OUCH

I'm going to try and post a little bit today...I think it'll be therapeutic! (for me)

December 22nd- MK day

*I apologize...this first part is going to be a bit text heavy...

I don't know if I made the right decision or not here, but we decided to drive to MK. Ultimately, the earlier we're trying to get someplace, the more inclined I am to get behind the wheel and take control of the situation. In my defense, we had an early morning ADR for our 2016 trip and driving to MK worked out super well. In that instance, we parked right near the very front of the TTC parking to the point that no tram was needed. Today would not be like that day. I've also just grown tired of the anxiety over waiting on an early morning bus. I know Uber is an option, but I have a hard time paying for a ride when Disney likes to pride itself on complimentary onsite transportation as a perk.

So, I picked this day because MK had am EMH and I do like ending a trip in MK. It was also a MVMCP night (the last MVMCP of the season), so MK would be opening an hour early to make up for their new plan to close early to non-party guests. What it meant to us...MK was opening for morning EMH at 7am.

So, we left the Swan around 6:30 and parked in a lot of fog and darkness. At least it took under 10 minutes.

27500475539_4a44a2be76_c.jpg

27500474999_bca311f1e8_c.jpg

David was all bothered because this was quite a bit farther back than where we parked in 2016 when we arrived at the crack of dawn. I mean, it's not awful, but but he does have a point. While I believe preferred parking was in place when we went in 2016, I don't think they were holding back as much from regular guests. So, it just bites to see it all in motion...i.e. Disney probably realized they can make a lot more from preferred parking, so they're pushing regular guests back even farther than they initially thought they could. And if that's not why it was done this way, the old way is a lot more friendly to guests who arrive early. Oh...and the area where we parked in 2016 was wide open.

After this, I really thought we'd be taking the monorail. I know I made some 7am ADRs with time to spare when we've stayed at monorail resorts and the website says it starts running 30 min prior to the earliest park opening. I could see buses off to the right with a small group of guests as well as security off to the left. But as we approached the TTC, we were told by CMs to go to the left and go through security so we could head to the monorail, so at the start, I had no reason to believe my initial thoughts of how we'd get there would be different. We followed their directions, but were told to stay put after that. We waited for around 5 minutes with some other equally confused families. When we asked what was going on, they said the monorail isn't open yet and that we'd have to go to the buses. So, we do that, but all of the buses over in that area are full and there were no other buses visible in the area. The full buses pull away and we're again left waiting. We could have been on one of those buses had the just directed us to them in the first place. It took a little bit for another bus to arrive and then we had to wait to see if anyone else showed up. Several people complained loudly that we'd already been misdirected, but the driver said he was going to give it just a bit longer. We were finally on our way to MK just after 7am.

27500474329_069c48bd6d_c.jpg

I must admit that we were pretty hot about this. In hindsight, I don't really know what would have been the better plan considering our feelings and experiences with things. I know MK is the park people often avoid driving to, but if you've had good experiences in the past, one might think it would be good in the future too. We could have waited on a Disney bus, but even if we've had good luck with early buses, I'd seen so many horror stories over the 6 months leading up to our trip (including a handful from my parents) that I didn't want to take the chance. Of course, we'd see an MK bus pulling into the Swan as we pulled out. There's also Uber, but like I stated before, if Disney wants to boast about complimentary transportation, it should be more reliable. I know I've waited 45+ minutes before and almost missed ADRs because of it, and it's a horrible experience. I mean, that's a big part of why Uber drivers have done so well with WDW guests. Heck, we always were told by CMs and drivers that they were happy to do resort to resort transports for early morning character meals, but I've had so many people of late telling me that they've been refused, so even more to fuel my concerns. I know Disney added the Minnie Vans for some resorts and had the express bus service for a while, but to me, that feels like their way of saying...if you want more efficient service, you'll now have to pay extra for it. I suspect some of the reason for the new parking fees also are partly rooted in this, but I'll get into that later on. End Rant.

The sun is starting to come up as we get to MK...

27500473599_23d189808c_c.jpg

Oh, and we get to go though security again. I feel so secure! Actually, I normally wouldn't mind it, but I already felt like we were unnecessarily behind.

It's still pretty foggy and we're all dragging at this point.

27500473139_24c5b47162_c.jpg

At least I can see the Dreamlights (if they still call them that) are still on.

We were full steam ahead when we first got to the TTC, but we were now dragging from the issues. So, I took some pics as we strolled in and up MSUSA.

Seeing the lights on at this time of day reminded me of all of the RunDisney events where the lights were still lit for the runners.

In all of our years (and yes, I know EMH wasn't a thing in our earlier WDW years), we've NEVER been to am EMH in MK. So, weren't we surprised when we found out what was open. In light of this, we decided to head into Tomorrowland. David and Sam wanted to ride Space Mountain, but K wanted nothing to do with it. After cutting her aching back and hips commentary short, I suggested we split up and she and I could do other things. So we decided to do Buzz.

I tried texting David again telling him that we were going to try and ride Ariel next, but there he was...no text needed. I really thought David and Sam would want to do another round on Space Mountain, but David suggested we try Peter Pan before EMH was over. So we headed that way...and I am very happy to report that nobody would be making me ride the tea cups today to see if I would puke.

Standby at Peter Pan was only about 15 minutes, so we immediately join the line. This has become one of our favorite queues.

We stopped in the restroom before moving on. Now you might be wondering why I took a pic of my backpack hanging from a bathroom stall.

38399511975_a2da19c7cd_c.jpg

It was sort of a bookmark, since I didn't want to take pics of the two stomach churning and one very disappointing cleanliness issues in this particular bathroom visit. I've seen a lot of posts saying they've never seen a filthy bathroom in a Disney park and many others saying it's becoming a real issue. Up until our 2016 trip, I really didn't notice any problems. I even thought the well known podcasters blasting the level of filth were out of their minds. Disney bathrooms, in all of our years, have always been immaculate...but unless it's luck of the draw (for decades), something has changed and it may be tied in part into some of the custodial staffing cuts I remember hearing about in several podcasts. I'm certainly not saying every bathroom is filth, but we ran into several exceptionally gross issues in this particular bathroom and it wasn't our only gross bathroom issue this trip (or with this bathroom) and we saw a number of issues last trip as well. I am going to spare you the gross details, but it's also important to note that I'm not a germaphobe. So, it usually needs to be really bad for me to have issue. I have this theory that the awful bathrooms in the college bars and fraternity houses we used to frequent would have gotten me sick a long time ago if I was going to die some horrible death from dirty bathroom crud. Still, some of what we saw at WDW these last couple of trips was just downright nasty. And while custodial may be partly to blame, I'm also not blind to the fact that some is the guests. Even in our bathrooms at work (which are private to our floors), there are some women who are so grossed out by what they do in the bathroom that they won't clean up their own messes. I hear this is becoming more and more common all over. I'm sure it's hard to keep up when so many people are guided by germ fears and think it's acceptable to leave behind such messes. I lived in a sorority house for several years in college and never saw this with 40 or so women under one roof, so it could be a sign of the times. Still, I guess I just expect better in a Disney bathroom. End rant.

It's still pretty foggy out and the park is officially open.

I always have major issues with the Under the Sea portion, so we're just going to skip that blurry mess (things I need to work on!), but I got a few things after that are "better."

So, we're still getting ready to ride Pooh...

38399836945_5e66fd8c1d_c.jpg

Winnie the Pooh is still Sam's fave, and after all of the princess indulging K got over the last few days, the last two days of our trip would have more Pooh stuff for Sam. Seeing these brings back memories of her on her first trip.

38399835655_22541aef2a_c.jpg

She had just turned 2 the first time we took her to WDW. She looks sooooo young!

5263962311_d309b6456c_b.jpg

5264570146_32f625e5a2_z.jpg

Seeing the coats also reminds me how cold it was for that trip. While I grew up in the northeast, I have adjusted to the south and start getting cold as temps hit the 60s...but this trip...we had a lot of 30s and 40s (and wind). OK...back to present day...

We didn't want to go far because SDMT was up next...and we'd be doing something we'd never done before...let the girls ride without us.

38399835005_7bc2036913_c.jpg

David and I are not fans of this attraction. It's cute and all, but we both end up in a lot of pain afterwards. Funny, I can handle Primeval Whirl and Space Mountain, but SDMT is hard no. LOL The kids love it though, so we let them ride twice...once on their bands and once on ours. I guess since they meet height requirements for all Disney rides, age requirements are the new milestones. Pretty soon, they'll be able to come and go as they please. Ugh...make it slow down!

OK...back to SDMT. I tried to position myself in different places for each of their rides. The problem is that it's hard to gauge which train they're on until it's right there and flying past you. Sooooo, I took pictures of A LOT of strangers to get my kids. I won't bore you with a ton of it, but I'll share some (which is still a lot). I even had to use the sound of the train to know when to start. In hindsight, I could have taken video and isolated stills, but that would have been too logical. And who knows...maybe you'll see yourselves or someone you know in these pics...

Not that it wasn't already overkill, but here are the last three from this sequence...

I'll spare you that for the next round.

So, the kids get off and get right back in line for round 2 and I find a different spot.

38399814955_58acf8b107_c.jpg

It took a lot of mine trains going through before I finally got one with one of our kids in it, but you can see Sam's face towards the back....and Kendall's arms. LOL

38399814085_756fe607f9_c.jpg

24414564907_c49dceec62_c.jpg

I then got more pics of them and a lot of strangers when the train came to the straightaway in front of us, but I'll just share our kids. LOL

sam is relaxing...ha!

27500910889_b950b436c0_c.jpg

The kids were also super stoked that they wound up towards the back for both rides. They know it's a better view from the front, but have learned it's a more intense ride in the back.

And I know it's blurry, but has anyone else noticed that I FINALLY got Sam out of that darn Mickey hoodie!?!?!?

27500909109_5f4b9aa62e_c.jpg

We were shopping the other day and she found a sleeveless hoodie...red trim, black and white classic Mickey faces, and she said we needed to buy it so she had a summer hoodie. Ummmm...NO!

After this, we were split on what to do next. Sam really wanted to head to HM, but K wanted nothing to do with that. So David headed off with Sam...

Hard to see them, but the fish on Ariel were there in August. Although now I'm wondering if they were new then or just didn't notice them before.

It was bugging me, so I just went through several years of pictures :hilarious: Of course, I didn't take a single pic during the ride when we were on in 2016. My Nov 2012 pic from right after it opened is zoomed in on Ariel, which led me to believe there was nothing else there...because I probably would have tried to capture it. So, I found a few 2012 ride videos and it definitely wasn't there when it opened.

Then I found this vid...entitled updated Little Mermaid ride...so, it had to have happened in 2015 and I just didn't notice in 2016. I'm such a horrible Disney fan. LOL It took two trips for me to notice!

So, David and Same were going to head to HM and Kendall and I had to make some choices...

27500905699_dc9df7426d_c.jpg

And Kendall and I decided to go on another cruise around the world...

Crowds in MK were much lower today than they were on the 20th, so we practically walked on.

27500899139_c319989945_c.jpg

I kind of took the same approach this time as I did on SSE the day before. I took a couple of pics, but I just decided to relax and enjoy my favorite.

We then met up with David and Sam so we could pose with the Liberty Bell...

And then put our children through some cruel and unusual punishment...

5265595757_7d024f951c_b.jpg

And Sam was just too tiny that trip to do any of this, but she makes up for it in style right now...

25409769528_9295d18421_c.jpg

It's now time to head to our all time favorite character meal for a late breakfast.

I'm getting all distracted on the way...I see a duck up there!!!

I have to ask.. why is SDMT a no for you? I'm only curious because hubby has back issues, and this was the ONLY rollercoaster we thought he might be able to go on because we heard it's really smooth?

It's actually our hips. Man...I sound old saying that, but it was so bad when we got off in 2016 that I had trouble walking for a while. I thought it was just me, but David later confided in me that he had similar issues with it. To me, it felt like someone had kicked me in the hip...well, both of them. I was much lighter when I rode it in 2014 (before all of my foot and knee problems), but even then, it hurt. I don't think it's a common issue though for SDMT as I haven't seen anyone else making these complaints. So, if it's your hubby's back...he may be ok.

Yeah...as much as being at WDW can make me feel like a kid, every now and then, there are things like this that shock me back into remembering my current age. I'm sure Disney will eventually imagineer something to correct that ;)

Maybe I was going for decorations? Or just a strange reflection of me taking pics in those decorations?

We at least had entertainment while we waited. This awesome CM was spending time shooing a bold squirrel from guest strollers. This went on for quite a while.

25409760318_7dbf8df6fa_c.jpg

I also got to overhear a family show up as a party of 4 when they only booked themselves as a party of 3... because their 4th was an infant. The CM was able to work it out, but I felt for the mom because she looked so terrified that this would crush their plans.

Soon after, our name was called and it's time to celebrate Friendship Day!

I'm just going to spam you with Pooh pics because this was a PHENOMENAL Pooh (see, didn't say really good), which is important, because as I've noted, he's still Sam's fave. She's my tomboy, my athletic one, my video game lover, and she loves quirky stuff (current fascination is narwhals)...so, if she can still love Pooh after all of this = heart happy!

I tell ya, David has asked that we stop doing all of these character meals. I think we can cut back...WAY back...but after seeing these pics again, I really don't think I can totally eliminate them from our plans. At the very least, CP has to stay a must.

(tummy is rumbly for some hunny)

This was a nice surprise for us. In 2014, character rotations were moving so slowly that we didn't see Pooh. When we were there in 2016, things were so off that we didn't see two of the four characters. In that visit, we'd already been there for 75 minutes and our server informed us it would be at least another 30-35 just to see at least one of the ones we'd missed. I'm not sure if it was backup from people wanting autographs, poor time management or both. Either way, today, we clearly got to see characters multiple times and CMs were passing by early on to make sure we'd seen everyone. Hey, maybe it's because it was the last breakfast seating and they were starting to transition to lunch. I know people lost their minds over CP stopping autographs, but I'm all for it if it means I get to see all of the characters at least once in a reasonable amount of time.

The food was also still decent. I missed the corned beef hash, but everything else was still there and Kendall was super thankful for all of the smoked salmon. Not a fan of CP for any other meal, but I worried since it was always a fave for breakfast and I'd seen several people recently say it had gone downhill. On top of all of this, we weren't rushed (which I never expect) and they made sure breakfast stayed open on one side of the buffet while they prepped the other for lunch.

Eeyore stopped us for another hug on the way out...

So obviously, still tons of love from us for Crystal Palace breakfast. We did overhear some drama while we were there. The guy had that seething anger look and I heard him telling a CM the golden ticket he'd given them doesn't cut it, but I didn't want to be too nosy. Still, sounds like someone didn't have the awesome CP experience we had.

It was time to head out of CP and move on with our day.

It was around this time that I saw a wad of spit and Lord knows what other nastiness sail from the line over the fence in front of me. It reminded me of the stuff middle school boys might do and it was GROSS! Not to mention it could have hit others in line if the wind caught it. I said something to Sam about it...how we don't do things like that and how disgusting it was. And yea...I said it loud enough so that hopefully it caught the ear of the guilty party. There was a young couple in front of us (I knew it wasn't them) who echoed my sentiments. And then we saw it happen again...and it wasn't a kid...it was a mom. She looked like she was in her late 20s/early 30s. I won't go into any more details about her description (even though I could), but this time I saw her and she knew it. I didn't want a fight or anything like that, but I really don't feel like having a front row seat for phlegm launching while in the HM queue. I think the look of disgust on my face said it all and she seemed to keep her bodily fluids to herself after this point.

As we moved up, Sam modeled with some of her friends...

39247582892_03c31b199c_c.jpg

And we kept moving through the queue...

39247582112_88f07e7256_c.jpg

I told Sam to pose with Aunt Florence, but it started this whole "do I really have an Aunt Florence?" discussion, which morphed into a "well, you had a Great Grandma Florence and she was Aunt Florence to some of our cousins." All in all, she thinks we now have some family bond with the HM queue. LOL

I didn't get in to get a cool pic today, but one of my fave artsy pieces involves the organ...

Oh well, I'm sure I'll eventually make some neat stuff with some of this trip's pics. OK, back to moving through the HM queue...

Not sure if the ribbon is there by accident or intentional, but interesting to see people leaving mementos to the "dead." Just not sure I want this to become a habit.

You can kind of see a few bubbles. LOL

Not sure why she never noticed it, but I had Sam on lookout to watch for Leota to open her eyes and move...

Eyes still closed...

And now they're open!

It freaked her out, especially when her head moved, but she totally loved it too.

And we're inside...

(Can't recall if it was my 2011 or 2012 TR when I started focusing on lights of Disney, but I didn't do as many this trip since I've got so many pics of so many of the same lights)

(this was really more for the wallpaper)

And now some out of focus doombuggies...

I tried again to take pics inside. Still not wonderful, but Leota and the Bride are a bit better and there's probably a smidge more detail in the ballroom...

We stopped under Little Leota at the end for probably a minute, but I couldn't get her face to come up and I din't want to illuminate the camera's display to try and mess with my settings. Dark ride respect.

I do always crack up a bit at this point in the attraction. I think I've shared this before, but the kids used to think she was saying "Hairy baaackk....Hairy baaaack." Gotta love it!

When we got out, David and Kendall were waiting for us and David was all sorts of cranky because we took so long. He was afraid of us missing our upcoming FP and he was about to go without us. HMs line was listed at 35min, but I think it took a bit longer. While we were in there, he and Kendall saw the updated HoP and the Muppets. And naturally, he took 0 pictures.

So, we start heading towards our next FP, but not before a restroom break (he's ready to walk off without us for fear of being late, but let's stop at he bathroom). This area always cracks me up because the ceiling divide tells you what land you're in...

And we're still on BTMRR...

Funny, this is one of the views I miss most when riding Big Thunder at Disneyland.

38569910404_321cba84f4_c.jpg

We walked by Splash, but it's a little bit cooler today and nobody wants to go that route...

Plus, we have other places to be...

Well, not before burning some extra time before our next FP getting our Pirate skills in check...

Looks a little more ninja to me!

I guess I must have been in more of a lighting mood today!

Time to head in...Yo Ho!!!!!!!!!!!!

38569903084_79fa0a4e96_c.jpg

I skipped pics again this time (for the most part) so I could just sit back and enjoy.

Yeah...pretty much cut myself off after this point. I did take two, but they are blurry ... like I started to try, but just didn't have my heart in going for a ton of pics.

Oh, and this hook came home with us. (came with us to the softball tournament this past weekend too...and nobody really understood)

And if you weren't aware, wearing your ears sideways is pirate mode.

Our last FP that I prebooked was Jingle Cruise, but I was the only one that wanted to do that, plus we'd changed some dining plans (more on that in a bit) related to it, so I was searching the app for something different. Laugh Floor was the only thing coming up that seemed to appeal and we haven't been in there since 2010. So, we headed that way...

Hiya, Walt! Hiya, Mickey!

OK...a little tangent here. Last spring, Sam had to do a Wax Museum project and she picked Walt Disney. It didn't all turn out exactly like the Partners statue, but it's what I had in mind when we put together her costume and presentation.

This was the closest I could get for an authentic CM name tag. I had to use the rhinestones to cover Walter's hometown. LOL

34417598016_98cbe810f8_c.jpg

(upside down mustache LOL)

And in case anyone is interested in seeing some of the presentation...

OK...sorry...total mom moment! Back on track for this TR...we're heading towards Laugh Floor.

A little foreshadowing...
