Test Track: v.1.0 vs v.2.0

I prefer the original version. I hardly ever ride it since the change. The last times I rode it, my car didn't even show up during the 'tests'

I like version 1 better. It was getting old and was in need of some updating, but I find the new version to be too much flash and not enough real stuff. It could have been executed better, IMHO. They got it right in showing how computer design is used, and I like the "mirror" effect replacing the radiation robots. But the odd testing aspect is too hard to follow and doesn't really add much to the ride, so it basically works out to be a nice dark ride followed by a high-speed loop. But Radiator Springs Racers does that much better.

The original for sure. This one is all Tron-ed up. My issue with the new one, other than getting rid of any interesting tech in the waiting line (shout out to the NJ barrier), is the build your own car thing. In theory, it's actually kind of cool. In application, well, it's not. The program they use for it feels really old. I feel like Disney (and possibly GM, depending how they sponsor the ride) should have been able to put the right amount of money into it to get a really awesome custom car program, but no, what they have just feels dated.

Should have got Jeremy and the rest of UK Top Gear to get involved, that would be awesome.

Though, sometimes I wish someone in the car showroom could explain to me how a truck is beautiful (I've heard people say this about them), but to each their own.

Heh.

I'm trying to imagine what the preshow would be like, but I'm already certain that the last line before the doors open and let you board would be, "How hard could it be?"

I mean, GM would likely hate it, but it sure would be hilarious, at least Richard would maybe be on their side (plus, they like the new Corvette).

I'm just imagining the bewilderment of all the people getting off the ride-
"That was interesting, but why was the ride mostly focused on three middle-aged Englishmen insulting each other and criticizing Spain?"

And with what you just said all I can say is, why do we not already have a Top Gear ride somewhere in the world (or whatever their new show will be called ride).

The old test track is tops in my eyes. The original version really did need to be changed but what they did was a clear step back for me. Unfortunately not one of Disneys better efforts.

Neither one is really that great. Frankly it's a "one and done" attraction for me. I guess if I had to choose which was the better of the sucky rides, I'd go with #2 being fractionally more interesting. But not enough to ride twice.

The previous version was solid, but the narration got stale after hearing it a few times. By my 20th ride, I had pretty much tuned out & stopped listening at all.

I love the new version.
It's got a mood that feels to me like the futuristic Epcot of old.
Much better!

I think that the new queue is better than the original. The original had annoying music and showed what amounted to be a sloppy garage. The new queue represents a much more crisp and "exciting" version of the present and future of the automotive industry.

I think that the original ride was superior to the new version. The new version feels like a sanitary romp through a neon world that reminds me of a cheap laser tag place that I once went to for the sake of my young daughter. She's past such things now, and so should Disney.
