Test track to become cars?

^ Agreed. Characters in EPCOT make me ill. Surprisingly, many people seem to be okay with the 3 cabs on El Rio, but I find the ride absolutely horrid.
I can't stand the 3 Cabs on El Rio either. :hurl:
And unlike Cars, I absolutely love Donald, my favourite Disney character.
I try to make do by pretending those flatscreens with the Disney cartoon are not there.

I have mixed felings about Nemo, and I like KP. Some meet&greets for those who need a picture of their child every ten minutes is fine with me too.
Otherwise, I hate franchises in EPCOT. EPCOT is enough of a dumbed down mockery as is.

I haven't kept up much with this Test Track refurb, but the fact that it features a new sponsor and is being redone synergy-free seems like good news to me.

It's not a new sponsor, it's just a more tightly focused sponsor; the Chevrolet division of General Motors, instead of General Motors overall. Chevy is one of the four car divisions currently left at GM, after they shuttered Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saturn, Hummer, and Saab, and were bailed out by the Federal Government to the tune of $52 Billion in the last few years.

It would be like if Coca-Cola sponsored a big pavilion for 30 years featuring all the Coca-Cola owned brands, but it went under rehab and reopened as just the Diet Coke Pavilion instead.

But Chevy has a catchy commercial jingle, so I'm looking forward to this long-overdue update to Test Track.

I don't know why everyone hates Cars. The first one was a good movie and there definately is not an over abundance of them in the parks, unlike pirates.

Well autoblog like jalopnik don't like it because the eyes are wrong.

The cars franchise is only being continued to sell as much merch as they can get red paint on plastic toys in china. Its quality is much less than any of the other pixar properties, and skinning anything with it is a cop out by wdi. Along with that, keep carsland in dl because clones kill the uniqueness of the different resorts.

I wish that of any of the pixar franchise brought into Epcot, that they have the two performers from one man band added to Italy.

If Test Track didnt have a sponsor it probably would have ended up with the Cars theme at some point. So thank you GM for sticking with it. As for 3 Cabs in Mexico, hideous, about as tacky as can be. Love the 3 Cabs but not how they implemented it. I want the old theme song back!! lallalallalalla

"Cars" coming to Test Track would effectively continue the total destruction and annihilation of anything even remotely worthwhile and interesting at Epcot. We're almost there!

Is it possible? There is 1920 model T sitting behind the wall which was in cars. Plus McQueen is a Chevy corvette. So could it happen? I hope not

no no no no no no NO! :fork: ...:zipit:

I think that the post show elements are great...and would have been a wonderful way to introduce kids to the learning side of the seas...But the ride itself and most of the facility, should have stayed or been updated to the "deep sea facility" it was meant to be. Right now it's just an aquarium with a nemo theme. Nothing FW about that. It actually rings more AK then epcot.

A Model T is a Ford product and was never at either World of Motion or Test Track. Lighting McQueen is a generic stock car and not a Corvette.

Absolutely no chance this will happen...i'm actually still surprised that CARS got such a huge land in DL..I have never seen the franchise as something that's worth investing hundreds of millions into. Just because it was profitable at the box office doesn't mean it will be a viable franchise 20 years from now...

The mcqueen covette connection is when McQueen gets a makeover in Cars 1 to 'cruisin' mcqueen' and he gets styled as a '56 vette.

I think that it may have to do with the fact that cars is one of Lasseter's favorite franchises (if not his top favorite)...It's his baby.

I think that the land will be very successful, much more successful than the movies. They have a winner with RSR, and i can't wait to try out luigi's tires...anything that makes you into giant airhockey puck can't be bad :)

I'm moving to the west coast in september, so the plan is to visit DL in early December...

My allegiance will always belong at WDW though.

I agree that Cars doesn't really deserve the exposure it's getting in DCA and really didn't deserve a sequel either. However, I've always been under the impression that the reason it is backed so heavily is because it is one of the Pixar movies directed by John Lasseter himself. He directed Toy Story (1,2,3), Bugs Life, and Cars (1,2). Considering his role at Disney, of course the movies HE directed will get the attractions and sequels first if he wants. John Lasseter absolutely loves cars in real life and therefore the Cars Pixar franchise is something he loves as well. Even if we don't love it as much as other Pixar movies, if John likes it, then we're going to get it. Just my thoughts.

I'm one of the few who actually really liked the first movie. The second one I thought was okay. But I REALLY don't wanna see Cars at epcot. Pleas just no more character invasions of attractions there.:brick:

And I agree that Cars did not need a sequel and does not deserve the massive land its getting at DCA. The movie is by no means a classic and simply doesn't deserve it.

I think people didn't get in an uproar over the 3 Cabs because the original Rio ride was, uh, nothing special...

I actually loved El Rio.....

It definitely needed an update, no question. But I thought it was lovely, relaxing, and a nice little snapshot of Mexico. Now it's not a ride about Mexico, it's a ride about cartoon characters. It's insulting. Just my opinion.

Oh no. 3 Cabs over original for me. The original was some kind of weird bad combination of It's a Small World and If You Had Wings. Not in a good way. I find the new one much more palatable.

I agree, however I think they could've done more to market Mexico, rather than just having a ride with the 3 Cabs...but I'd take the new one over the old one any day as well. The ride went from being skipped every trip to being riden at least once every trip...usually.
