Test Track 2.suck effects status watch

My issue with the new TT is that they pretty much took the weather condition tests and turned that area into a whole lot of nothing. I used the single rider line and did not get to design a car and I didn't really feel the need to either. I would've liked to be able to use the photo ops at the end though. They need to at least fix it so everyone can use the post-ride stuff.

Actually... Yeah. I made the mistake of pausing in beside the "Bumblebee" Camaro for a second or so (mostly wondering WHY did Chevy put the gas tank on the passenger side. So barbaric!) and a CM came running with a tablet computer wanting to explain that the 22" rims were available as an upgrade and if I was more interested in convertible or coupe.

I used to have a Chevy with the manual crank windows and the gas tank on the right side. Gas Attendants (I live in NJ and we aren't allowed to pump our own gas) refused to walk over to my window so I would have crawl over to the passenger side and crank down the window everytime I got gas. That was barbaric.

I didn't encounter any CMs trying to sell me a car there. Another guest tried to sell me a Honda Fit when I was looking at the Sonic though.

True. Also, these three rooms were much more elaborate than whats there now. However, the rest of the ride has a lot more visuals than before. It used to look like a warehouse.

Also, the post show....where you could "Create a Virtual Commercial" for the car you created?

Given that the next generation of video game consoles are going to take photorealism to the next level, the fact that Disney decided to go with graphics from 2001 is utter proof on how little they wanted to invest in the project.

Here's a comparison:
Test Track Virtual Commercial:

Really!? Wow I'm surprised to hear this. I've always loved TT as well. I've yet to ride 2.0 but, my understanding is that although they've changed the overlay (Tronned it out) the ride (track|course) is essentially the same. I can't imagine what they could have done to it that would make me (or you ;)) not want to ride it anymore.
Really really. We rode it in January. I offered to take my husband to Epcot in Sept. His response? Why? Soarin is filth. TT is crap now. Lets just sleep in that day and keep the $$. Pretty bad when a man turns down what once was his fav park.

The problem w/the new TT is that there's less to see. If all the technology doesn't work perfectly there's nothing to see. You're just in a car riding past light streaks, a few monitors, and a breezy outside loop. The story cannot survive when the tech fails. That's bad. The ride feels hollow overall for us. It's a one & done now.

I remember saying this when they first announced this garbage overlay on TT. I got flamed and was basically told to shut up about it because it was going to be awesome and I had no idea what I was talking about. Hmmm. Vindication feels nice. :) The old TT had nothing wrong with it, other than not being WoM.
I didn't flame ya. ;) I had a feeling it would turn out bad but hoped I was wrong. I was only wrong in that it turned out worse than I feared.

I actually enjoyed the new version as the old one (esp the per-show video) seemed a little outdated.
Even though I didn't really care about the part where you design the vehicle, it sure does beat standing in the line that the old ride had (if you didn't have fast pass). I like that they are making these efforts to disguise the fact that you are still waiting in line. I think the design portion really appeals to the children and I think it was a good move even if it's not my favorite.

Loved the old version, but was pleasantly surprised by the new.

When standing in the TT1.0 line there was tons of stuff to look at, so many nooks-n-crannies to seek out Hidden Mickeys or other little details. Now there's neon and a few props. Granted, the old line was quite dirty. But, hey, at least there was dirty stuff to look at. How long before there's dirty voids to look at?

Ever ride World of Motion?

They literally ripped out all of the stuff and put LED screens everywhere... And you know the whole winning of the design categories for each test is rigged....

Has anyone even gotten to "design" a car? I've been on the ride twice, and each time NONE of the design screens were working and most people just walked on by without noticing. I don't know if "designing" would actually add to the ride (doubt it) as it has never happened when I ride.

The MS Windows screen on the ride really is deplorable to hear about.

Thought you were a NOLA girl.
I've lived all over. My mom & her 2nd husband moved us all down to Orlando metro area when I was 6. We were seasonal passholders for Disney parks (when it was MK+Epcot) and HBJ parks (Sea World+Cypress Gardens+Boardwalk & Baseball) for many years. I left when I was 16 (and could escape hell). Lived in NOLA area from early '96 to mid 2007. :D

That is true, there was a lot of stuff to look at. I guess what I mean by the new design portion is you don't feel as much like you are just standing. So I think it was a nice addition. But you are right, not much to look at in the other just standing portions of the line.
I liked the old version a lot too and actually not sure which I prefer, but I still really enjoyed the update.

We stood near the new Corvette display. The salesman approached but he soon regretted it....when all he got was my then-16-yro ripping the craptastic design of the new model and me standing there just laughing. LOL!

I hate the "salesmen" they have now...it used to be a "car show" at the exit, not a slimy car dealership.

No, thank you GM/Disney for trying, I am not going to buy a car while on vacation.

I worked thru Katrina. I was night shift supervisor for the Emergency Operations Center communications in St. Tammany Parish.

I was proud as to how my company handled our losses in that area then (we paid for their hotels, gave them remote work, etc...)

It was a sad time for the city...which was a slum...and afterwards...was a slum. But a very romantic one! <kidding...sortof>

True. Good way to describe it.

I will say, however, we got on an info list by giving the hubby's contact info on our Sept. 2011 trip. In November when we finally had to buy a new Tahoe because the old one was dying we conveniently received a $1500 rebate mailer. The $4k GM incentive + the $1500 rebate on top of hubby negotiating a killer price had us walking out the door at less than dealer invoice. That was nice.

Still, hubby regrets not buying the Acura I pushed for. My car has proven to be far more reliable and it's older than the Tahoe. Tsk tsk tsk. I love saying "I told you so." :p
