Terrible Disney Stories

3 Trips Ago

3 trips ago, as my wife was suffering from a serious condition known as Crohens, her issue decided to get really bad. When you're sick like her, you have to control your eating. Not too much or too little, otherwise the pain is crippling.

We had finally reached Epcot (Center) after a harrowing check-in and lengthy bus wait. She was starving and close to the point of illness. I wasn't feeling too great myself. The line to get into the park was insane and when we finally got the the turnstyles-our roomkey/passes didn't work. Evidently our passes were set up on some tickets elsewhere and ticketing was closed for the day.

We waited an hour and a half for Guest Services, ended up having to take the bus back to the resort and wait in line there.

Long story short, our tickets were held at Animal Kingdom of all places. We did get in to eat, but my wife was totally nuked.

After the trip she ended up having to have surgery (the condition worsened, but not because of the trip. She was headed there anyway) where they removed a big chunk of her insides.

There was a silver lining. We got our tickets and room for free after all was said and done, plus 3 individual days to spend on our next trip.

The worse thing happened to us on our last trip this past August.

My oldest son apparently only brought one pair of shoes and maybe 2 pairs of socks for our week trip. We were there durring tropical storm Fay and had nearly constant rain the whole week, so everyday we were wet and cold.
By the third day, I started to notice this smell. He had been wearing the same shoes and socks everyday and got athletes foot VERY bad. The smell was sickening. :hurl: We had to make him take his shoes off outside our resort room then put his shoes inside a plastic bag before we could let him in.
We got him some foot powder, but that did very little to help.
The most embarrasing thing was being on the bus or standing in line and someone commenting about a bad smell.
Sometimes it was kinda funny, like sitting on the bus and a small kid goes "Whew something stinks!" but when they realize who it was that stank, then we were embarassed.

We drove down also and had to make him put his shoes in a platic bag and cover his feet in a towel then entire drive home.

Horrible story with a happy ending

About 15 years ago one of my mothers good friends brought her 2 children to Disney. They were ages 3 and 5. One day in the magic kingdom she was carrying the 3 year old and the 5 year old was walking besides her. The 5 year old's shoelace came undone so she put down the 3 year old and tied her 5 year old's shoes. When she looked up the 3 year old was gone.. nowhere in sight and not coming to her calls she ran to security. They quickly found through their many surveillance cameras that someone had taken the child but the camera only had a bird's eye view so it was impossible to identify the culprit. They asked her what kind and color shoes the child had been wearing and she let them know.. Good thing she remembered those details because without them they may not have gotten the child back. Turns out this happens (or happend) quite often in the parks.. In the time that the child was taken and the time they found her, the kidnapper took her into a bathroom, drugged her, and dyed her hair a completely different color. This is why they asked what kind of shoes she had, I guess this is a common technique in child abduction. They caught the kidnapper with the generally unharmed child trying to exit the park. Way to go Disney Security:sohappy:!! So just as a precaution try and remember what shoes your kids have God forbid anything like this were to happen to any of us.

I have a bad story. My DD has an illness called KLS. This disease causes her to go into sleep episodes for up to 3 weeks at a time. Here is a news story about her/us.

http://www.wpxi.com/video/9949314/index.html

She has had as few a 2 of the episodes in a year and this year, so far, she has had 5 episodes. We're always afraid of making plans for anything, because she could go into an episode without warning at any time. You can see where this is going, right. We left Pittsburgh Friday night and drove to Orlando and checked in Saturday afternoon. Hung around the resort for a while and on Sunday spent the entire day at MK. Monday morning we can't wake her. We had 4 day passes that WOULD expire and because we had two other kids, we still went to the parks the rest of that week, but, sorry to say, it wasn't the happiest place on earth that week. She was miserable and crying half the time and oh, so tired. We had to find a quiet place for her to sit and sleep several times. She also tends to get very scared when she is in these episodes so she wouldn't ride anything. She was only 9, and should have found memories of that vacation. But just like every other episode, she woke up a week later and had no memory of anything. One night she went to sleep after having a wonderful day at MK and dreamt of AK, MGM, and Epcot that she would be exploring and having fun at only to wake up at home. All we could do is show her pictures of what she did.

Did I mention, this was her first trip to WDW?:(

On the plus side, we have since had several successful trips to WDW since then. I have to admit, though, every time we go, I feel like I'm still trying to make up for that first trip to her.

Weekend night. Packed bus from one of the resort hotels to Downtown Disney? A bunch of small kids on the bus...who weren't the problem. The problem...a drunk bachelor party talking like they didn't know that the bus was a family show. I hadn't heard so many four letter words in such a short period of time since watching Pulp Fiction. Finally had enough and told the drunks to watch their mouths since there were kids on the bus. They just joked about it. Wish the bus driver had kicked them off.

My sister went walkabout in WoL once. It was retrospectively quite funny because of course everyone was walking around the pavilion the same way so it took ages to locate her!

First of all, the bolded sentence is absolutely untrue.

Secondly, . . . well, someone else already corrected the rest of it so never mind.

Well, not having learned my lesson, here's story #2.... We took my sister and her 2 boys with us in 2006. They were 7 & 8 at the time. They complained (moderately) about the length of the drive. No big deal - here's a game - play it. But once we got there - OMG! They whined, cried, screamed, about EVERYTHING. The 7 year old cried the entire ride of It's a small world - JUST BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T PUT HIM IN THE SEAT HE WANTED. When we got home, I watched our videos of the trip. Both tapes were constantly "T stop that, C quit crying, T behave, C stop whining". THE ENTIRE TRIP. I told them both that the next time we go on a trip with them, they'd be 25 years old.

I guess I still haven't learned my lesson because we invited my brother & his family on the next trip and I don't expect it to be any better! I just want to share the magic!!!
Ok, disneynut4u, next time don't take your family, take me! :D I promise I'll behave and won't whine (until we have to leave).

Well, actually a friend of mine has been a criminal lawyer in Orlando/Kissemee area and said that 90% of the child molesters that are her clients are caught in Disney World.

She is ALWAYS warning me about NOT letting my boys go to the bathroom by themselves, Stores....etc.

Don't you think 90% is a little high? That sounds a little too high to me. Also there are A LOT of security cameras and guards at Disney World that we don't see. Not saying it can't happen, but 90%? And we were not just talking about a child abduction we were talking about an abductor altering a child's appearance to get away.

Reread my post...I said MOLESTERS not abductors.

Dont get duped into thinking your child is VERY safe there because of the security for a million people, like one molester said to her "Its a candy shop for me and its so easy to get to a kid in WDW."

I emailed her and she said, and I quote: "I don't have the exact percentage but its somewhere in the 80-90% area, its ridiculous! Why DO you still go there?"
