Teenagers on the Disney Dream

We've booked a 4-night cruise on the Disney Dream for January 2, 2013. Our teenage children are off from school that week but most of the rest of the country won't be. Our kids are concerned that there won't be many other teenagers on the cruise and the the Disney Dream's teen hangout, The Vibe, will be total dead. (One of their friends went on a similar cruise on another cruise line this year and they were nearly the only teenagers on the ship.) We are hoping that since DCL is the "family cruise line", the Dream will have enough teenagers to keep our kids entertained.

We'd greatly appreciate you sharing your expereince with teenagers on the Disney Dream, or any other Disney ship.

There should definitely be more kids on a Disney ship than your average cruise line. January 2nd is early enough that you could get some kids that start late too. You'll definitely get home schooled kids and parents that just want to take their kids out of school. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. :)

Ha, I was just gonna say wait til Disneyfalcon comes on, she is sure to have an answer for you! :animwink:

I haven't been on a Disney ship, but I was a Cruise Specialist at a travel agency, and Disney's teen clubs set the standard, with other cruise lines copying from them in the last several years.

And I agree, there will be plenty of kids no matter what time of year you go.

We went on a 3-day Dream cruise in the middle of September this year...when kids are typically back to school. My boys both were in Vibe and both say there were lots of teens there. Lots. My oldest is a little uncomfortable around larger groups of kids so he actually shyed away a bit. My youngest ate it up, said there were plenty of kids. We homeschool. There were other homeschool kids and there were some that were taken out of school. I think you're more likely to have more kids on Disney Cruise Line than other cruise lines especially while school is traditionally in-session.

My family went on a cruise when school WAS in session and the Vibe was full. It did feel as if I never saw any teenagers, but there always seemed to be a lot of people hanging out at the Vibe. Just a tip, talk to the counselors inside about scheduling because they never followed the schedule when I was there. Oh and I'm 17 so it's coming from my perspective and not an adults.

Not sure what you mean, "It did feel as if I never saw any teenagers ..."

Do you mean, except for The Vibe, you did not see a lot of teenagers or was The Vibe full of people who were not teenagers?

When we went on the Dream last January my daughter was at Vibe every night and she made quite a few new friends.
