Heroes, you now have two (2) assignments:
  1. Research these parks, especially the parks you don't know very well if at all. Learn them, start thinking about what their strengths are and their weaknesses, and what needs to be done to fix those weaknesses and make them into nationally-recognized destination parks, and:
  2. Think about my proposal for something to unite these totally-different parks into a united project. My idea is just that- an idea. If you have another, we want to hear it.

Start your research, and start your creative juices flowing.

I suspect that working with this many creative people might soon overwhelm the Thread, so if we need to do something to avoid that problem, let me know (and I'll probably just give you a dumb look and say "make it so").

Well, if youā€™d all like, Iā€™ll take ZooAmerica and get back to you all when Iā€™m done. Give me time to write it up before I leave
I think that would be great. Remember that it will need to fit into the final project, but I'd say that as long as you stay in the location where it is now, and if you need to expand it you do so into an area that won't impact the theme park section of HersheyPark, you should be golden. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you're going to come up with!

While we're waiting, I think we need to come up with a general idea of how to present this, sort of a "mission statement" for us to agree on. I think we need to establish a reason for this team to be working on these four parks (whichever we finally choose) at once. If we can't think of a reason, we need to create a reason. This is just something that came to me when all that caffeine hit my brain. Bear with me. You might have seen or heard about me creating a huge theme park resort called Americana, which in my universe is an independent theme park resort so popular that it routinely beats Universal in attendance (it's my fantasy place, so just stay with me here). How about we announce that the Americana Resort and these four independent parks have created an alliance called- yes- "The Americana Theme Park Alliance" (or some other name), where each park is totally independent but they all work together to promote each other and recognize each other's Season Passes (or give a big discount for admission, or something). They work together, promoting each other nationally. Most of these parks are far away from each other, so there would be no intruding on each others core market, yet they could pretty much blanket the nation with promotions. I'm a Cedar Point guy, and Cedar Fair's Platinum Pass gets you into any Cedar Fair park regardless of where you got your pass. It's a great promotional tool, and having some sort of Association where the parks remain independent yet work together for the "common good" might be a good way to unite these totally different parks. This is just one idea- I'm sure there are others out there.
So Americana's owner being the tycoon that he is essentially acts like Disney and buys up these parks to put them all under one umbrella

I like it! Makes practical sense too.

Also, since it was mentioned, whenever people are set on what park they are going to contribute to - my suggestion would be to make 4 separate threads for the 4 separate parks.

This way brainstorming is separated and concise, rather than everyone all in here.

We can then use this thread for general suggestions, whereas the park-specific information is kept to those separate threads.

One of us can make the threads for you so you don't have to worry about how to do that!

@James G. do you have plans for us to split into separate groups?
Yes, I'm sure that will be the easiest and most efficient way to keep things organized. I want to be sure we have a good mix of talents in each group, and I think having a separate thread for each "subteam" with me being included on each thread will be the best way to keep some continuity and uniformity in the progress.

Most of what you posted is spot-on, but I hadn't really envisioned having each park be purchased by The Americana Land Company. More like a lose Confederation of independent parks, united for the common good and all committed to a major expansion project at the same time to take on the Black Rat of Anaheim (or Orlando). However, if we decide that having them be purchased together makes more sense, I bet that the Chairman of the Board of the ALC can come up with the cash.

Remember, the four parks are Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, HersheyPark, Holiday World and Silver Dollar City. If you have a strong interest in a particular park, say so, and if you have a strong aversion to a particular park, also say so. If you don't really care- that's right- SAY SO! I want to get the teams established soon, like by tomorrow. If you're unsure, read up on them and let me know asap.

Iā€™m going to have to step down. I love these competitions, Iā€™ve made some amazing friends in them. Sadly this year and my life are pulling me in different directions. I love brainstorming with some many bright minds but I donā€™t have the time to create. We are extremely understaffed at work, which leads me to work crazy hours. Iā€™m also working with a lawyer so I can take some of my ideas public and try to branch out and create my own tech company of sorts.

I want to thank everything who Iā€™ve worked with over the years. I love this community and Iā€™m not stepping down from it in any way but Iā€™ll be taking on different directions. Maybe Iā€™ll share what Iā€™m working on one day. (Ps, Iā€™m trying to get the GF to design a video game with me is one of the project)

Peace!
Sadly, Voxel will not be a part of Team Heroes.... :(
