Team Danny DeVito From Dumbo - Wonders of the World

I love the headphones idea! By default the ride will be in French, but adding headphones will help international guests get the same experience and story!

For new advancements, maybe something inspired by the new moving animatronics by Disney? The animatronics populating each scene could walk around and engage dynamically with each other.

The only worries with this is 1). does it make sense for Versailles to be developing theme park tech on par with Disneyland, and 2). this is giving me big-time flashbacks to Team Ringling’s Renaissance art project in DisneySea. @Mickeynerd17 @ThemeParkPriest remember that? Anyways we can set this attraction apart from what came before?
Good point, it wouldn’t be realistic to go for something super advanced. And to set it a part, maybe we can go for a different tone that the Renaissance project?

But at the same time, I see the reasoning towards trying to open up to families through catchy songs or a “host” character (maybe played as a cartoon rooster, the National animal of France)?
Maybe a smarter version of Moana's Heihei?

@Sharon&Susan what are your thoughts regarding the presentation? We could go simple but effective with a Doc or Forum Post, or try something unique. Excited to hear your opinion!
I'm planning on using a Google Site (since it hasn't been used that much during this game) along with possibly a special thing or two if I can figure it out. I'm not going to say what it is until I know I can do it.

This sounds fantastic! So maybe the Rooster and friends accidentally find themselves in past Versailles, and they try to keep quiet while the historical figures talk. But naturally shenanigans ensue.
I like the rooster idea, but I'm a bit worried about making it too low-key. I think it would make more sense if the show was more serious and focused on the history. We can have the rooster character, but I don't see how a theme song would fit the mood of this experience.

I was thinking about location. This triangular plot seems to be the most obvious location to build. (Not over the entire plot, that would be gigantic) but somewhere in that area. Thoughts??
Yeah it’s really tricky to find anything close to the palace. If we were to go with the plot you suggested, I think we go for the bottom right corner. Alternatively, the upper parking lot by the palace seems not well used in the two pics I’ve seen. We could clear some spots there (maybe they would build a parking garage instead).

DAY TWO RECAP
Today we decided our project theme, the Palace of Versailles! We then determined roles for the team. To recap, our roles are:
Plan for now is to focus on our roles, check in as needed, and complete our project by Friday! Great work getting everything in order so quick team, only three more days to go!

What if we just added a shuttle system from the big plot of land that goes to the palace. I wouldn't mind writing it up in a paragraph if y'all like the idea.

If we go with the plot of land it would probably be a good idea. The building would be about 0.5 mile away from the Palace. The current grounds are rather expansive, so people are probably willing to walk a bit, but it's a little different since we are adding an attraction. In addition, there's the road ("boulevard"...hard to tell how much it gets used) between the plot of land and the palace grounds, so. at the very least, a pedestrian crosswalk or bridge would probably need to be constructed.

@DisneyFan18 @ThemeParkPriest @Mickeynerd17 so my thinking is we use the Carousel of Progress method to create four sequences (plus a load/unload section). Each sequence is approximately 7 minutes and features a distinct time period relating to the history of Versailles. I propose the sequences be ordered as:
  • PRESHOW: 1661, Louis XIV arrives at a small Hunting Lodge and promises to renovate the Palace into the center of his rule.
  • ACT ONE - THE SUN KING: 1701, Louis XIV presides over a court of European Royals, showcasing his dominating presence thanks to the grand expansion of Versailles.
  • ACT TWO - THE FRENCH REVOLUTION: 1789, Louis XIV's grandson, Louis XVI, and his wife Marie Antonie fearfully notice the growing mob outside the Palace. There is much discussion about the cause of the Revolution and the downfall of the monarchy since Louis XIV's death. At the end of this scene, the royals decide to flee Versailles, where they never return.
  • ACT THREE - THE PEOPLE'S PALACE: 1871, Emperor Napolean III hosts European royals to the Palace, which has become an art museum dedicated to the French people's history. A number of conversations about French history up to this point occur. The scene abruptly ends when the Germans storm the Palace and proclaim victory over the French in the Franco-Prussian War in the Hall of Mirrors.
  • ACT FOUR - PEACE IN OUR TIME: 1919, the victorious Allied powers, including leaders David Lloyd George, Georges Clemenceau, and Woodrow Wilson, discuss the end of World War 1 in the Hall of Mirrors. Clemenceau briefly comments on how much history the palace has seen and how renovations will continue for a museum. The scene ends with the signing of the treaty and the promise of "peace in our time".
  • POSTSHOW: 2021, the Palace has since been refurbished as promised in the last scene, and a formal museum installed. We can now all witness the grandeur of Louis XIV's dream.

Thoughts? Trying to cram a LOT of history into four scenes, so some stuff is inevitably cut. I'm imagining each scene would be a bit longer than CoP, with individual conversations between the animatronics relaying to guests the history of Versailles between the scenes.
All seems good...I don't know know much about Versailles, so I'll trust your breakdown of things! Since we have 4 helpers on this ride description task (more than originally had been originally suggested), perhaps we should have a division of labor. One way to do it would be to have each of us work on a different "Act." However that might prevent us from having a unified ride. So maybe something like this:
  • Overall story/artistic director: Outbound (it dovetails nicely with being Project Leader)
  • Script writer--Mickeynerd17 (if you're up for giving script writing a try)
  • Set design--TBD
  • Costume design and character developer (especially with the chicken)--TBD
If this is agreeable, @DisneyFan18 do you have a task preference?

I can help Mickey with the script because I feel like that might be a very big task for just one person. And I can also do the set descriptions.

Awesome! I approve of this.

Thank you! I really appreciate it!

Here's the website so far, obviously not that much content yet on here, but there's a site logo along with some stuff on the main page
Still working on the other part of the presentation that I'll reveal once I feel more comfortable with it.
