Team Citra Brainstorming Thread - Project Three: Animation Domination

Anyway if we're going to set this in a park in the past, why not set in a park owned by the King of Nostalgia, Disney?

Disney's MGM Studios, other than The Great Movie Ride and a few peeks at their catalogue in the Sci-Fi Drive In and Prime Time Cafe never had much MGM.

As a character from "a competitor's" blockbuster once said "History is going to change".

Setting our Tom & Jerry ride at MGM Studios either in the Animation Courtyard or in the never built (at least not in this timeline) Roger Rabbit's Hollywood could make the studio setting all the more make sense and if we set in a Roger Rabbit land it's already assumed that the toons are actors.

Plus Disney already had pretty much unlimited power to do whatever it wanted to do with the MGM library at the Studios.

Would anyone be against doing this as a Disney MGM Studios Project?

So I'm thinking for the queue...
-Lobby (posters and PA announcements)
-Animation desks hallway, would use mirrors to create the illusion of a larger room.
-Room full of sets (could use it to reference the T&Js that don't take place in the US)
- Prop Room (Self explanatory)
-Orchestra Room (could show clips on screen, music and sound effects actually plays from each instruments)
Finally you turn a corner and see two doors, one door is labeled Tom and the other Jerry.
-Pre show theater staring Spike the Dog with there being two screens with an animatronic Spike between them. Starts out with a biopic on the to main characters and the mission statements along with safety information.
-Cat side enters normal sized house load area, Mouse side is mouse hole themed.

Ride should start in the attic as Tom is creating the ultimate mouse trap while Jerry is trying to annoy him. Mouse side gets trapped at first, but then the cat side suffers the blow. The chase begins.

A good ending for the ride would be Miss Two Shoes (Not to be confused with the maid like figure in the original shorts) hosting a dinner party as the Tom side completely ruins it chasing Jerry side.

Obviously we have to expand on that a bit more, but I think that's a good start.

BTW, universally the most mediocrely reviewed part of our previous project was the plain Google Doc format. I think we need to figure out something we can do to up our presentation this run around. I'm thinking Google Slides might be an improvement, but maybe someone else has a better idea than I do.

These ideas are great, but I think that they're too much for a D ticket. A ride this scale really shouldn't have a preshow, and I don't think that a Tom and Jerry ride really needs a preshow in the first place. I do really like your story beats, though. I also worry about having too many characters. Personally, I think that we should stick solely to Tom and Jerry. I have a rough outline of my ideas with a map of the showbuilding. I'll have both up in a few hours.

So, super briefly, here is my outline:

A0FB3B4B-E7A1-4BDD-8ABF-8D2F093FA37B.jpeg

Building is hexagonal , with cars meeting in the middle atrium multiple times, with the side rooms separate and unique for each track. Center room is themed to the kitchen, where Tom and Jerry are fighting in a literal whirlwind. Not entirely sure about story elements, but my thought is for the first scene in Tom’s track is guests coming out of a box that has been opened by Tom, while Jerry’s track has guests passing through his mouse hole as he’s seen winding up a toy car. Scene directly following it Tom and Jerry squaring each other up. I’d also like a scene where Tom tries redirecting the cars with hot wheel tracks (I don’t know what else to call them.). And the ironing board scene would be fun to represent as well.

In terms of queue, my thought would be to have it mostly outside. No preshow. No setup. Think Fantasyland dark ride. With this being a d-ticket we shouldn’t be going too far with this.

We should probably think of a name for the ride. Any ideas?

I'd change it from Hot Wheels to a model railroad set, its a bit more in line with the original series and could have a bumpy effect similar to Mr. Toad.

I would like to keep the prop warehouse part of the queue in some way, doesn't have to be overly extravagant.

Definitely agree with the model railroad, and that queue sounds fine.

Thought of a kinda funny idea for the model railroad scene.

The Mouse side goes on a railroad track, it looks safe at first, but Tom switches the track to cause it to go directly into a hole.

Cat side stays on the floor and gets a big thumbs up from Tom.

Jerry has his own track, he uses it, and the hole moves over last second to the cat side trapping the cat cars to temporarily.

Haven't thought about a practical way to do this, but it feels like something a Tom and Jerry cartoon would do.

@JokersWild I know you haven't yet posted the assignment list yet, but can you sign me up to work on the queues and load areas? It's what I really want to work on, I'm thinking of doing a Star Tours like approach where the exterior is studio themed (to go along with the Animation Courtyard) while the short interior portion and loading area is themed to Jerry's mousehole (for mouse side) and the house at normal size (for Tom).

So, this is what we're looking at:

Queue: @Sharon&Susan
Tom Track:
Jerry Track: @JokersWild
Art:
Presentation:

I think that it would be good to try to get a good presentation. That is absolutely not my forte, so if there's anyone who has any sort of expertise with making presentations please let me know.

Sorry I had a busy few days. My apologies about that.

I'm really digging the sound of this Tom and Jerry dueling dark ride. I could work on the Tom track.
Great! If you have the time, I can set up a PM for us since I'm working on the Jerry track. Consistency is going to be super important between the versions of the ride, and it might make communication a bit easier.
