I like this. I think its a great story and flow. BUT it also seems too complex and more than we could realistically achieve without a lot of screens.

Maybe we keep it simple. Our group finds an artifact in the ruins at the start. Jupiter takes us up to olympus and tells us we must return the artifact to Rome for whatever reason. But as we bounce around on our way there, all the gods want it and try to attack us to get it. Neptune send us into water so his sea monsters can try to get it. Pluto draws us into the Underworld. Mars attacks us in the streets of rome. And then we return the artifact to rome saving the day. Jupiter and Juno thank us before we exit.

That way, everyone we meet has one motivation. They all want the McGuffin. We don't need to worry about time travel or educating detailed history mid-thrill ride.

Its just intro, lift hill through olympus, Neptune scene, Pluto scene, Mars scene, End.

If we r doing a thrill ride, the plot needs to be very simple.

Dinosaur: we go back in time to find an Iguanadon

Test Track: Test a car you designed on a digital track

Space Mountain: Fly through Space

Tower of Terror: A haunted elevator drops you into the twilight zone

Our Roman ride: Try to return an artifact to Rome as other gods try to stop you cuz they want it.
Or I guess we can do a more complex plot, I just don't know how well we can convey a story like that with so many twists and locations in a roughly 2 minute long thrill ride. But feel free to out vote me on this

that is very true. I go for this idea, as it does make for a more enjoyable experience.

We don't even need the artifact honesty, if we aren't married to it. I was just proposing a series of experiences and justifying their existence. Everything is implied, not stated (like the traveling back in time). It's just locations and characters.

To re-iterate, I'm team "no explicit plot". But it's smart to have reason for every creative choice we make even when the attraction won't state it outright.

EDIT: looks like Team Younger might be locked into doing a coaster/dark ride hybrid too. I don't know if we want to concern ourselves with that or not.

I am a fan of the artifact idea. It provides a reason for every event and allows us to elaborate more on the gods personalities and their Powers.

I think the fact that our ride is more of a water and land ride thrill and dark should set us even more apart then them :)

Ok, yeah, I like the no-explicit plot. I still vote for some kind of framing device as through thread though. Whether it's an artifact or something different. But I'm not against the ride being a collection of scenes where the story is just implied and not stated.

Yeah I'm with you and @kmbmw777. We only need as much "story" (or exposition or whatever you want to call it) as the classic stuff that's still super popular. Take Pirates: talk about an implied story that looks like just a collection of scenes on the surface.

We have a couple of things we still can iron out over the next bit of time (like @ThatGuyFromFlorida 's suggestion about/against water rides and whether we could feature some outside scenes), but I think we're more than prepared to get to work on what we've come up with already.

Given the amount of people on our team and the material that we're basing our project off of, it might make sense to have one person write up a little piece at the beginning that familiarizes the judges with the stories we are taking our inspiration from. This way, we can cast the vision for our sweeping, thrilling ride experience without bogging the scene write-ups with needless backstory and explanations. If everyone agrees that this would help our project, I made a list what we have to do.

To Do List:

- still need a team leader

- write up the context of the attraction
- write up the exterior, queue, loading area, and exit for the ride
- write up scenes for inside the ride
- write up the mechanics of the new ride vehicle (if we decide to use that idea)

- draw 1-2 pictures (@TrevorA)
- build a mockup in Planet Coaster (@ThatGuyFromFlorida)
- assemble the website (@kmbmw777)
- submit the project to the main thread on Friday

So that's four writing jobs and four administrative/visual jobs. Is everyone cool with taking two tasks, or else making a deal with the team to cover part of your workload?

I work 6 to midnight on friday, so I can't submit unless we're done by that time. If we r using a new ride system, I can write the description of it. I can throw out some engineering words to make it seem legit. I can help with the writing too since that won't be a long write up. Whatever people need.

And you se to have the most familiarity with mythology and all. Would you like to be team leader and do the introduction/mythology primer, @TrevorA ?

So, are we changing the ride system or sticking with the EMV that has a flume section.

@ThatGuyFromFlorida expressed concern about the flume and then I asked what everyone else thought and I think you might have agreed with him? I don't have a problem with water and I don't have a problem with no-water, it's a killer ride either way! So I suppose you can make the call at this point.

Let's just stick with it. I'm a big trepidatious about using water in world showcase being reduntant, but I think we do it in a unique enough way. Like you said, it's a killer ride! I'll try to type a ride system description up tonight. Then I'm free to help any other areas all week

Also yes I can be the team leader for this go-around. This is our updated call sheet:

UNTITLED ITALY ATTRACTION

- write up the context of the attraction
- write up the exterior, queue, loading area, and exit for the ride (@kmbmw777 )
- write up scenes for inside the ride
- write up the mechanics of the new ride vehicle (@Pionmycake)

- draw 1-2 pictures (@TrevorA)
- build a mockup in Planet Coaster (@ThatGuyFromFlorida)
- assemble the website (@kmbmw777)
- submit the project to the main thread on Friday

- team leader: @TrevorA

I'm trying to leave space for you, @ThatGuyFromFlorida, to have some choice regarding what you want to do for the project, so let us know when you're back what you think.

That's great everyone! I want to aim for everyone to turn in their individual submissions by Thursday night/Friday morning so @kmbmw777 has plenty of time to get the website looking neat and pretty. If it's impossible, no big deal, but it's a good goal.
