@TrevorA what are your initial thoughts on the website (design wise)? Not everything is functional yet.
@Pionmycake @ThatGuyFromFlorida You too?
I like it! My only concern is that I'm not sure how strict the content rules are for this site. So, maybe we should have Roman painting that have a topless woman just in case a mod would give us issues for it.

But if it is ok in the site rules, than I don't care myself.

Great website though!

HAHA! I didn't even notice. I'll probably change that later. There aren't too many Roman god pictures that I liked and that one seemed to be a classic. Ironic that's where it focused of the whole landscape lol

Haha it is a very nice painting, I almost didn't notice either lol.

Like I said , we'd proooobably be ok. I just don't really now how strict content rules are on this site.

So, I spent more time trying to get the One Sentence Comp video to work yesterday than I planned to. So, I didn't write my part yet. I'll do it tonight though

here's the layout.kmb, is it possible for you to add the section labels? After all, you are doing the ride through.

Nope, I actually made a mistake. No one's doing ride through yet. Any volunteers? (Insert HM laugh here)
I can write up a ride through tonight if no one else wants to. Then you guys can edit it and add additional details.

Or if someone else would rather do the walkthrough, feel free to let me know

WARNING - The following section of the attraction write up deals with the technical aspects of the ride system (don't worry, nothing too technical. I'm not gonna make you read schematics or anything haha). Therefore, this section will discuss aspect of how real life attractions achieve certain effects. If you wish to continue with the belief that Tower of Terror, Dinosaur, and Rhino Rally (from Busch Gardens Tampa) all work by magic alone, do not read further as technical aspects of these three rides will be discussed.

-Ride System-
One of the most impressive moments of Tower of Terror (one of the most impressive attractions ever built) is the Fifth Dimension scene. That is when your elevator, which you had assumed could only go up and down like the cast majority of elevators, moves forward! Its an exciting, memorable moment! The way this is achieved is pretty simple actually.

Your ride vehicle is not the elevator.

Your ride vehicle is essentially just a bigger version of those used in simple, classic dark rides such as Snow White's Scary Adventure and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. BUT your ride vehicle can lock in to another ride vehicle! So, your car rides the elevator!

This ingenious ride system was a partial inspiration for the ride system we have chosen to design for Legacy of Olympus.

In Legacy of Olympus, the primary ride vehicle is an EMV (Enhanced motion vehicle) very similar to Dinosuar in Animal Kingdom or the Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland California.
250px-Enhanced_motion_vehicle.png
patentvehicle.jpg

Since the set up for the ride is that you are modern day tourists going on a tour of some ancient Roman ruins, the ride vehicle are themed as jeeps and visually looks very similar to the vehicles from Indiana Jones.
127715_1232504962371_500_370.jpg

For added capacity, the EMV will have a fourth row added at the expense of quite as wide a range of motion.

At a certain point in the ride, vehicles will try to cross a "bridge." The bridge is really a wide boat that the EMV can lock on to. The "bridge" will then "break" and slide into the river.

As mentioned, the "bridge" is a boat. The boat has to be wide to support the weight of the main ride vehicle. Thus, the waterway used for the aquatic section of the ride will have to be wide.

For a real world example of this, you can look into Rhino Rally, a former attraction from Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. The ride was a jeep safari ride very similar to the Safari in Animal Kingdom. The big novelty of Rhino Rally is that it had a water section where, similar to our ride, your jeep ride a broken bridge down a river. Legacy of Olympus will have a different enough context to avoid comparisons to Rhino Rally (assuming anyone other than me even remembers is). Also, our ride will have a small flume.

For reasons that should be obvious, steps will be taken to prevent water from splashing into the undercarriage of the vehicle. Small misters will therefore be added to the inside of the ride vehicle so guest can still be "splashed" going down the river without the machinery of the EMV itself getting wet.

At the end of the river portion of the ride through, the "bridge" simply lines up with the regular land based track and the EMV unlocks and continues normally.

Overall, this will be an exciting new ride system that is achieved by simply combining a few different fantastic theme park ride systems already existing. This ride system will be one of many aspects that will make Legacy of Olympus a one of a kind, thrilling, ground breaking E-Ticket experience.

-Ride Through-

Ruins - Start
We board our jeep (an EMV, more details can be found in the ride system section) from within an ancient ruined building for our tour of the ruins here on the outskirts of Rome. Our tour starts off very smooth, but you start to notice the eyes on statues and paintings follow us. A statue comes to life and opens a gate sending us up a lift hill surrounded in golden light.

Lifthill into Olympus - Jupiter/Juno
While riding up the hill, everything becomes much more grand and we can hear Jupiter's voice (a celebrity will voice Jupiter so his voice will be recognizable for later in the ride. I would recommend Liam Neeson, but budget and availability will be the deciding factors on who is chosen). Jupiter warns, "Do not be startled, I am Jupiter, ruler of the gods, bringing you to Olympus. We are in grave danger. Saturn, the king of the Titans, will rise and destroy Rome if the dodechahedra is not returned to its rightful place. You must hurry with it to the heart of the city!" We complete the hill and make a quick turn through Olympus. We see Jupiter, and Juno standing beside him, as Animatronics. Jupiter says "Be warned! The dodechahedra is a powerful artifact, many gods and monsters will be after you trying to take it! No, go!"

River of monster - Neptune
We exit Olympus and follow a mountain road. We come to a bridge with a short waterfall on one side and a river on the other. A Neptune Animatronic rises out from above the waterfall on our side. "You fools try to sneak the cursed object past me, Neptune, god of the sea! I guess I'll have to let the monsters along this river teach you a lesson!" While he says that second sentence, the bridge "breaks" and the riders start floating down the river using the technology discussed in the Ride Vehicle section.

We float down a roaring river past all sorts of sea monsters (mostly simple motion figures). At the end of the river we come to the whirlpool, Charibdis. Forced perspective is used to make it look much bigger than it really is. We try to float around it, but out from the darkness emergers the six headed beast, Scylla! Scylla "pushes" our boat into the whirlpool! We slide down a flume right through the center into the Underworld!

Underworld - Pluto
Our river we are riding along is now implied to be the river Styx. As we travel down the underworld river, we pass by the gates to Elysium, a paradise, with a sign nearby that reads "Elysium, the final testing place for true heroes." Next, we pass by the gates to Tarturus, a horrid pit with a Dark aura emanating, with a sign that reads "Tarturus, the final resting place for the evil of the world." Lastly, we come to the end of the river next to a Pluto animatronic.

No, not that pluto. Pluto, the Roman god of the dead.

"You aren't supposed to be here yet," he says with an eerily calm voice. His voice almost reminds you of an office worker. He isnt angry, or evil. He is simply doing his job. You are just a folder placed in the wrong filing cabinet (Think of Toffee from Star Vs. The Forces of Evil as an example of the voice Pluto has, except less sinister). "Not yet at least. Get back to the surface and try to enjoy the rest of your short, mortal lives." The vehicles dock as he speaks so the car can start travelling along land again. We exit through cave back up a short hill into the streets of Rome.

Roman Streets- Mars
Romeis eerily empty and quiet. Until you hear a booming, powerful voice, "Bringing that object here is an act of war. I should know, I am the god of war afterall." We turn a corner to see a Mars animatronic.
515966.jpg

He speaks again, but this time not to us. "Armies of the fallen who have died in my name, arise once more to smite these foolish mortals." Skelton soldiers begin to pop up all around us as we rush through Rome. Most are either simple animatronics or projection effects. There are a lot on either side "attacking" the jeep as we weave through the narrow streets of Rome making for a thrilling climax to the ride!

Eventually, we hear the familiar voice of Jupiter from the beginning (coming from on board speakers), "I will hold off his army, return the dodechahedra to it's rightful place. Hurry!"

Mars himself swings a sword at us from above, but our car goes down a small hill underneath him and dodges. We are in a dark tunnel when we see a light appear. We see the Dodechahedra in it's rightful place! We did it! Twinkling lights fill the room as our jeep returns to the loading platform. We hear one last message from Jupiter, "You have saved Rome. You are all true heroes." Now, it is time to exit the vehicles and return to the World Showcase.

So, the ride system and the ride through are both done. Feel free to fix any mistakes of add anything im missing or even scrap the whole thing and start over. I'm basically gonna be working between now and the deadline, so this will have to be the extent of my contribution. Good luck finishing everything up!

@TrevorA you're still doing our primer on the mythology and submitting it, right? Also, please double check that I got the mythology right, I know Greek better than Roman lol.

@kmbmw777 you're doing the website and the queue/exterior, right? If you need to change anything I the ride through to match your queue, go ahead!

@ThatGuyFromFlorida I know you did great on the Krampus ride editing the ride through, feel free to work your magic here as well! Just remember that kmbmw said he wanted all our stuff done by tonight so he could do the website! So, you gotta make your edits and whatever else you'll be doing as soon as you can after school today.

That's actually a pretty bang-up job! (EDIT: I redact my comment about adding to the first scene, it's better the way you have it.) I love the Jason and the Argonauts thing that you have worked into the ending in Rome.

One small but crucial change: Jupiter and Mars aren't enemies, but all the gods respect the will of the fates. So instead at the end where Jupiter has to distract Mars while we escape, if Jupiter tells him that we are fated to return the thing to the place, Mars would stand down. Gods are nothing if not rule-bound.

I've got my opening piece, I'll post it here now.
