Yes but those things are often preprogrammed. This meet and greet was more spontaneous even if it was awkward at times.
I am sure if someone hosting a party pays enough they can still get him.

Because Scrooge McDuck has been put in charge.Why must Disney ruin this?
The bean counters don't really care about customer satisfaction.
All I really know is that my 3 year old grandson is going to be terribly disappointed when Mickey won't talk to him this next trip the first week of June.

Really disappointing. My daughter isn't old enough to remember the times she met him. Was looking forward to that this year. sigh.

Now the rumor has less force than before...D23 just announced a lineup of festivities celebrating the 90th birthday of Mickey Mouse. As part of the celebration, there will be a few events that celebrate Mickey in the parks...Just this year of Mickey´s celebration is not normal to take a step back precisely with him...

Honestly the coolest thing about meeting Mickey was that he talked. Maybe even worth a FP. Bothers me that i feel like its taking a step backwards.

Is it definitely stopping? Anyone know why for sure? There’s some guy who works with Disney on interaction from a university on a forum (he’s legit he is on LinkedIn) who says he advised on this and he’d be surprised it was going, especially as they rolled out the other test characters in DL.
I’d be gutted if it goes as it’s one of the truly magical things at WDW. If it’s due to cost that would be even worse.

How disappointing. I've never met talking Mickey, or even mute Mickey since I was a little kid. But if he continued to talk and really talk to you and not those pre-programmed phrases, I would have seen him one day.

I seriously wish they stuck with the non pre-programmed Mickey that was only used at one D23 and during the testing phase.

It’s a cost savings and it’s better for the CMs. The talking Mickey heads are quite heavy.
Then stop getting petite women to be "the friend of Mickey". Hire 6'10" linebackers!!!

Interacting with talking Mickey was the highlight of my son’s 5th birthday, a day which included BB, BoG, and MNSSHP. Truly something unique and magical that puts Disney in a separate league. It would be a shame to lose it, I wouldn’t waste the FP or time in line otherwise. Fair enough if it’s legitimately causing CM’s injuries due to its weight, but I somehow believe the cost might be far more important to WDW.

It’s money. Articulated heads are still used at the castle stage so “safety” isn’t that much of a concern...
