Saturday, October 18 is Sweetest Day.

Does anybody know if Disney does anything special or if anything special happens around the resort for this? My sister said they may have a pin but I figured I'd ask my #1 source for Disney info....all of you disney fans on WDWMagic!!

I have never seen WDW celebrate this event, nor have I seen a pin dedicated to this event. I have always thought of it as a Hallmark type of day instead of a mainstream celebration. Best wishes!

Sweetest day is a Holiday that was invented by Hallmark to sell more of their cards. It never really caught on though.

Most people don't celebrate it or do anything special on SD, so I doubt if Disney has any pins/cards etc celebrating this occasion.

October 21, 2000....Sweetest Day....The day my wife and I were married. If you look at all the greeting card sections in every store.....not just Hallmark, you see thousands of cards. A lot of people celebrate this day.

A LOT of people bought into this holiday.
A LOT more didn't.

My wife and I celebrate Valentines day, like most normal people do.
Most people I have talked to agree with me, we don't need two I Love You holidays.

I stand by my original post, Sweetest Day was made up by card companies to sell more cards and make more money.

Happy 8th Anniversary a week early!:sohappy:

Thank you so much for the anniversary wishes:animwink:. I agree 100% with you that it is a Hallmark holiday...along with some of my other favorites: Bosses Day, Executive Assistants Day, Mother-in-Law Day, etc. For some reason my wife and I always celebrated the 3rd Saturday in October. And it seems to be a huge day for weddings. I used to work for Sheraton/Westin Hotels and Sweetest Day Weddings normally were booked 3 years in advance.
Please don't think I was jumping on you about your post. Just wanted to let everyone know that even if it's just a Hallmark holiday, it's a special one for us.
Thanks again.

So not to be the odd one out....but can anyone enlighten me as to what Sweetest Day is? Judging by another post am I right in assuming it's another version of Valentine's Day?

Can we really afford to make up another holiday whe we already buy enough crap to please the opposite s-e-x?

When I first heard of it last year, I thought they said "Swedish Day"... so I went out and bought some Swedish Berries to please both misnomers.

I've lived in 11 states and the only time I heard of it was when I lived in Michigan. Actually, Michigan celebrates a lot of holidays more than any other state I've lived in.

You know we women really should have more days to celebrate how wonderful we are. After all, men have football Sunday's and that lasts for several months.

Okay, I admit, I watch some of the games too.

That clears that up for me. My wife is from Michigan and I'm Canadian and I remember when we were dating, her friends would ask me what I was going to do for her for "Sweetest Day" or whatever it is called. I was looking at them like they were completely drunk of course, never having heard of this so-called holiday before. :hammer:

I think we exchanged cards that first year and thankfully both of us chose not to surrender to this hallmark holiday from that day on. I have completely Canadian-ized my wife now...my job is done! :ROFLOL:
