SURVIVOR - Redemption Island

This season is a snoozefest. It's like they all decided at the beginning to make Rob the winner. The producers are doing all they can to create some drama, but there just isn't any. I hope next season is all rookies.

There are too many people left for the finale on Sunday...in 2 hours they need to have the duel, which will bring 5 people to camp, and then 2 elimination challenges and tribal councils and then that lame torch remembrance ritual they do every season. I definitely agree with prior post stating this season misses something by scaling back on the rewards...I miss all the drama in camp when people are removed to have their little pampering session?! Oh well - I'll still watch but definitely not as dramatic as other seasons.

stated tonight next season 2 vets will return - similar to this year

I'm a little annoyed about this. Once they started previewing next season and said "16 new castaways" I said ARGH!!!

I like the way it played out. Best part was when everyone was giving their "you hurt my feelings and it's not really just a game" speech and David stood up and spoke to the JURY to set them straight. I wonder how many of them were actually thinking of voting for someone else.

I was VERY glad to see they nixed the remember the former players ritual that's been a staple (and waste of 20 minutes) of every finale I can remember.

The finale was predictable, though satisfying. The biggest disappointment was the revelation that Phillip was not an evil genius. It will be difficult for anyone to control the game the way Rob did. He benefited from having been through this multiple times, but he also showed he's adaptable and willing to learn from mistakes. His snarky interviews kept it all fun, too.

I much preferred the Redemption Island duels over the old Reward Challenges. There was so much more at stake with the duels, and I'm glad they're carrying that aspect over to the next season.

I'm not excited about two returning players coming back for next season. After this season, I expect the two returnees will be early boots.

They filmed it - but decided to edit it out of the show based on the other content they wanted to fit in.

Seemed like the 'shortest' reunion show too.. they barely talked to ANYONE except for the finalists, grant and russel.

Both Ashley and N. looked better on the island...

I am not happy that Redemption Island is coming back. I much preferred the reward challenges. Those always created drama when the winner had to decide who to take. Plus, I don't think that Redemption Island worked as well as the producers hoped. Sure, it sounds nice that you have the chance to re-enter the game. Oh wait, your tribe is only going to vote you out next time.

I was glad to see Rob win. Out of all of the finalists he deserved it. I was disappointed that Phillip didn't show up at the last tribal council and say, 'Hey folks, it was all a joke! I'm normal but being a nut job and a jerk got me here.'

Exactly. Redemption Island really did nothing significant in determining the final contestants this season. It would have been neat if Matt, for instance, after being voted off early and spent so much time on R.I., winds up on the final 4. Then R.I. would have had a more meaningful purpose. But for Boston Rob, Natalie, Phillip, and Ashley...what did R.I. actually accomplish?

If R.I. doesn't play a more significant role next season as to who makes the final vote...I don't see producers keeping it around much longer. Exile Island in years past played a bigger hand in determining finalists than R.I. did.

There are 2 former NFL players - one barely qualifies. Grant Mattos played 6 games with San Diego back in 2003 (quite a career!) and Steve Wright played 9 seasons as an Offensive Tackle for the Rams, Bears, Redskins, Packers & the Giants.
