Survivor: Kaôh Rōng

@Flippin'Flounder - did you watch Caleb's BB season?
If so, are you impressed with how much he's matured since then, and what a genuine, sweet guy he's become?
As long as they don't bring in Amber, that is. :hilarious:

I'm really loving this season so far. It's a breath of fresh air after all the returning players last season and the predictability of Mike's win in Worlds Apart. Peter was getting a decent edit the first two episodes but had an EPIC meltdown at tribal council, a historically epic meltdown that was the biggest meltdown since...Jenny talked herself out of the game last freaking weak! ;)

Debbie definitely grabbed the game by the horns this episode, and I'm kind of loving it. I can see how she rubs people the wrong way (and I can't imagine living with her let alone playing Survivor with her) but she showed this episode that she's got a level of self awareness about her and knows how to run the numbers. Definitely won't win, but might pull off some fun moves and go deep.

Brawn is a hot mess. Jason is the sexist bully with a heart of gold...okay....? Scott is essentially a sidekick and "yay pro basketball!" edit, Alecia is likable but definitely won't win. Sydney is actually pretty surprising considering I didn't like her at all pre-game (cue Rob and Nicole's rant about her "amino acids" on RHAP :p )

To be honest I really like Tai but he's the closest thing we have to a camera hog this season and I never like when one tribe's edit is dominated by one person. He's a super cool person and an incredibly unique character, but he's starting to get a little one note over the top positive. All three of the Beauty women definitely stand a chance to win. Julia's the only one who didn't say anything negative about America's Sweetheart Tai during his idol shenanigans in the premier, so looking back I think that's actually a really good sign for her in spite of getting the least amount of screentime of the three girls that episode.

On Survivorsucks someone compared all the looming threats of medevacs to watching a Final Destination movie and I tend to agree. It makes the edit morbidly fun. Every time someone has a breakdown, climbs a tree, or gets a cut you're wondering in the back of your mind "oh man...is this it..." :p

And there's the first blindside of the season. I thought it was the perfect move to make in the situation. Obama is still useful for challenges going forward and it took out a threat at the same time.

I still don't understand how Alicia is a Brawn team member.

The Beauty tribe is fun, but I don't trust that one dude(the one who said he is so beautiful). I liked the challenge. Fair for everyone, I thought.

I also think Tai was crying that someone was getting med-evac'd and it wasn't him who was hurt.

Honestly, Debbie is kind of growing on me in the same way that Shirin did in Worlds Apart. She's hilarious and intriguing in the wackiest way. :p She has her moments when she can slip back into her annoying self, but she's really smart in using her first impressions to fly under the radar into the merge where she can make a big move. I really didn't like her at all for the first two episodes, but after tonight, I can see her going far.

Promo for next episode. Jeff Probst called it the most intense episode they've ever done...and it looks that way too. Looks like all hell breaks loose and it probably is crazy and awful based upon how much they are breaking the fourth wall.
Who's "Big Guy"? Please, please, please don't be Caleb!

I'm going to assume the male whose identity is strategically concealed is the one med-evac'd, rather than Cydney or the girl in the blue buff, who are clearly shown.

So I just spent the last 50 minutes watching this video that took place the night before the season premiere or Kaoh Rong. It's a group of people watching the premiere, and then they have a little Survivor chat afterwards. It's Jeff, Parvati Shallow and Stephen Fishbach. Jeff talked up how great episode 4 was going to be. He said it's really going to be raw, and they are going to let us see a sort of "behind-the-scenes" look at how Survivor happens when something goes terribly wrong. He said it is the scariest episode they've ever had from a production/safety standpoint, and it will be an episode long remembered.

A couple other things said...
- Aside from season 1, Jeff said Second Chance is his favorite season because everybody was playing to win.
- There have been talks for many years about doing a winners season. The problem is, a lot of the early winners wouldn't get cast on today's show because they aren't compelling enough. And then there's players like Parvati who said they don't want to play anymore. But he said they are getting close to having enough good men and women winners to have a winners season. That would be pretty cool to see.

Before I get to the vote, I'll talk about some of the things that happened prior to it.

First, another potential Super Idol! I wonder if they have two idols out there, or if they would have to combine it with a different idol from another tribe. My guess is the latter. I'm happy Tai has an idol, but I don't like that Jason has an idol. I think he'll go far. I don't like him, though.

As for the challenge, it's one of my favorites. That "puzzle", or whatever you call it, at the end is awesome!

I'm happy the Beauty tribe won again. They are by far my favorite tribe this season. I kind of wish the Brawn tribe would have lost again. Starting to lose interest in Scot. Cydney is probably my favorite from that tribe now, and she's not even that intriguing to me. As I said, I don't like Jason at all. Alecia is a candidate for pawn of the season.

As for the Brains tribe, it was only a matter of time before they lost. Barely, but they did.

I think Peter really screwed Liz over, but it also doesn't help that Debbie has preconceived notions about people just by looking at them. She was the one who really led that vote, surprisingly. She looks like she's in control of the Brains tribe, but I agree with Peter and Liz that Neil could be a dark horse in the game.

I really liked Liz and would have rather seen Peter go. But smart move by the Brains tribe. I wouldn't trust Liz or Peter, and I think they made the right decision to keep Peter for the time being and keeping the tribe strong.

Right now my favorites are everyone from the Beauty tribe except Nick. Not a fan of him, either.

Looking at the previews for next week... Looks like our first med-evac will take place. It showed Tai a couple times, along with him crying. But I sure hope it isn't him. I'm hoping it was just a reaction to losing someone else, but I definitely think it's someone from the Beauty tribe.

Can't wait for next week! I've said it every episode so far, but this is shaping up to be a great season!

My 2 cents on the med-evac from the scenes from next week: the person getting the IV or whatever that was had a brains buff on. It was blue/green and brawn is red and beauty is yellow. At first we thought it was an alligator bathing suit then my husband realized it was the buff. I'm thinking either Peter or the old FBI dude since it was definitely a guy's hand. Or of course I can be completely wrong.

Last season I was able to guess Joe in the fainting situation because of his hand and the tan skin. Maybe it's your turn to get it right!

Well, with this preview, we've gotten a whole new slew of information. For those who don't want to know who will be injured/need medical attention, SPOILER WARNING!

We've learned the following:
- Cydney seems to be in need of medical attention
- As discussed, someone of the Brains Tribe. It appears to be Debbie.
- 3 people in need of medical attention in 1 challenge. If Cydney and Debbie require it, who could need it from the Beauty tribe? My guess is Caleb. I say this because: they don't show him at all throughout the preview and Cydney is mainly highlighted in it. They could be trying to redirect our concern to her in this preview, so the reveal that Caleb is injured is that much more shocking.

This is sure to be a shocking and fantastic episode.

Please don't be Caleb. Please don't be Caleb.
And if it is Caleb, please let him get another shot on an upcoming season. I really thought he has/had a chance to do really well. I haven't been this enamoured with a player in a long while.

Not who I thought it was going to be! Is there a second person to go down? I'm kind of scared to see what's going to happen next...
