Survivor Caramoan: Fans vs Favorites

Yeah. Both times on the show she gets voted out first week.

They should have a special edition season where they bring back all the worst players ever. Like, everyone who got voted out first week each season.

That would actually be somewhat entertaining. Make one called Fans vs... Who??

I was going to post about this.

Here's the story: The contestants jump offne boat and reach the beach, and they participate in a tug of war challenge. Shortly after the challenge, a 25 year old male contestant complained of cramping in his arms. Medical came, he was evacuated, and suffered cardiac arrest and eventually died.

Apparently, the guy had passed the med checks that all contestants go through before going out on Survivor.
Seems like this might just be one of those freak things that happens sometimes to seemingly healthy people.

I just came here to post the article! I guess any time people are exerting themselves in extreme situations with lack of nourishment it can be a health risk. Terribly sad situation.

True, but I don't think lack of nourishment was a factor. The way I understood the story, they had just arrived at their beach, like contestants always do on the first episode of a new season.

It could have also been caused by a blood clot of sorts which he never knew about, and it somehow became un-lodged due to the strenuous activity. Very rare, as most can be detected upon physical examination. Or , like you said, just a freak incident altogether.

Very sad news to hear.

Holy cow it was the first challenge of the season? I just assumed it was mid-season since what we are watching is mid-season (I KNOW that makes NO sense and makes me look a bit dense but it's true!!!) o_O

It would have been nice of Julia to actually play in the game before being voted out. I mean she wasn't actually there, right?!?!?! I think she wins the award for the most un-interesting, blah player ever. I mean there was nothing there. I would have figured a race car driver would have had some energy and a personality.

This would have been their chance to turn and whack Philip out of the game, but I think they all want to take him to the end because he won't get any votes. He was pathetic in both challenges today. I mean Cochrane looked great compared to him. And he takes this "leader" role, but doesn't get punished for being bad like any other previous "leader" would have.

I guess they figure he'll do something down the road here and he'll get whacked on his own.

I just had an idea come to mind for an upcoming Survivor.

Survivor Wherever - Individuality. Which means there are no separate tribes to start it is everyone is on the same beach the whole time and the entire time is individual immunity and individual rewards. Maybe add that twist of the individual gets to pick X amount of people to go on the reward with them to build animosity and drama into it. They can then mix in some of the balance type challenges earlier as well as Puzzle ones. Heck, the gross food one could be done early and really thin the crowd right away. Multiple idols are hidden.

Thoughts?

I like that idea. No tribes. Alliances would be ever changing. Total chaos. Brilliant actually.

I simply cannot believe Philip said he threw that challenge. Cochrane needs to get an award for not reacting to that utter nonsense.

Like I said last week - glad they finally have Corinne in the little interview segments. Comedic gold.

While I'm not surprised the fans were targeted again, it would have been the perfect time to get Philip out. He's not a leader, he's not the big, strong man he thinks he is, and he doesn't have the intelligence/strategic gift that others have. The only reason he is still in the game is because they won immunity all the time before the mix up, he gets into people's heads with all of his "alliances", and he claims he is the leader. There's nothing there, Philip.

Michael is so lucky that the merge is coming next week. This could actually save him. My early prediction (which isn't saying much without seeing what happens next week) is Sherri getting voted out. She's hated by Reynold, which means Eddie hates her too. I think Malcolm will vote her, too, just to get the week ones out.

Excited for next week's episode. Looks like it's going to be interesting with the merge and the eating.

The thing is... 'power guy' alliances never hold up. Malcom needs to recruit some votes into his block.. preferably someone who will hold up in endurance challenges or puzzle challenges.

The issue with Phillip is the favorites involved are all meager people who are too scared to put their neck out. Those are ALWAYS the players that slowly get picked off because they never take the risk.. they are kling-ons that are tossed aside as their usefulness wears out.

And now, they are under the idea that it will be fans vs favorites again when they merge.. so compounding it is they don't want to reduce their numbers. But unlike a dawn or someone who you could count on their vote.. Phillip is always going to be a liability and is probably completely unbearable in daily life. They should have gotten rid of him 1-2 challenges ago. The problem is the longer you wait, the more dependent you get on the numbers and start worrying about the jury.

Hopefully some favs will get their heads out of their and do what they know they should do. The challenge this week would have been the death knel of anyone else in any other season.. but the favorites are so pathetically weak they can't even face themselves.

If Malcolm plays his immunity idol right, he could go far. Reynold is done for. He trusts people far too much. Malcolm has the upper hand on everyone, IMO. He knows where both idols are.

And that's a shame considering she really is a beautiful young lady...if she'd SMILE for once! Show some emotion! I couldn't believe how she just sat there during Tribal Counsil, just looking off into space as if she was constantly wishing to be elsewhere. She got her wish last night.

I like this! Jeff could even mess with the contestants at the beginning, making them draw numbers or something to determine which "tribe" they will be in...only to be revealed that everyone is on the same tribe.

Great idea.
