Surge Pricing Holding Up (Semi) Annual Increase ...

In a way I understand what you mean. I work for a major hotel chain. We raise prices until guests stop booking. Then we pull back. Disney will do the same. I was there 2 weeks ago. Couldnt get on Dwarf ride in less than 2 hours. if you dont stay on property you cant fast pass that ride. the ones we could fastpass a week out we really didnt even need FP for in the end. But still this place is getting way expensive. 3.25 for a bottle of coke that was warm in less than an hour. UGH
Did you just say disney will pull back? I think they cut prices once in the 80s.... That will NEVER happen again.

Could this be one way to increase AP buying. It pay off the AP quicker in theory right if you went on higher priced days? Unless of course they are black out days. Question are AP black out day just for FL residents?

Didn't Disneyland stop the sale of annual passes?
Heck no. They just jacked up the price and renamed a bunch of them. Still have monthly payments plan as well which is really what's causing the crowds IMO. The only one they "suspended" selling was the second to bottom tier one, the So Cal AP.

Oh come now they havent even started charging for the toilets yet. And lets face it that is one place designed for tired pricing. You could even upsell on toilet paper, the softer the tissue the higher the cost and charge by the sheet. And of course all payments could be linked to your magic band. Though on reflection you would need to do some technica work on the ladies unless you ran an honesty system.
"Magical Toilet Paper" UPGRADE TO OUR "MAGICAL TOILET PAPER DELUXE ExPERIENCE FOR 40 USD MORE PER CRAPPER!"
then you wave your magicband next to the toilet scanner.

Actually you could charge by the flush so if its a courtesy deodoriser or a monster floater that extra water used could be billed. Flushing away excrement isnt a right its a luxury.

The gardener's would need to tread carefully if they ever tried charging for the bathrooms; soda sales would collapse and the costs of dealing with dehydrated guests would soar. There is doubtless a spreadsheet somewhere in Disney that analyses the hit on profits to the nearest cent that will at least spare us from that change.

Well, Disney price increases end up saving me money because I have started spending my vacation dollars elsewhere. We went to South Dakota last summer and to SeaWorld last fall. We did end up doing MNSSHP one night which was just about right. We didn't see the need to visit Epcot, AK, or DHS because there is nothing new or interesting to see. SeaWorld was a breath of fresh air for us. Nice rides, free front of the line access for staying at a partner hotel, and manageable crowds. Not to mention, a five day vacation there including tickets and hotel cost the same as one day at WDW.

I was actually thinking about doing the same kind of thing. When I go to Orlando, spend more time at Universal, Sea World, or head over to Busch (Legoland is probably worth a visit just to see it) and then, if it's one of those MNSSHP or MVMCP nights, do that. I get a bit of the flavor of Disney without having to buy an entrance into the park twice that day.
