Sup with these new ugly magic band boxes?

My tax return check came in a plain white envelope and I was really happy when I opened it. I think I'll survive the change in magic band boxes.

Given you are just getting back what is rightfully yours, and not paying to obtain it...

A tad different than the MB situation.

Ever purchase a $2,500 laptop? Do you like it to be packed nicely or just dropped in a corrugated box?

How about a nice restaurant? Sure they could just toss your food on a paper plate with some plastic silverware, but presentation matters. You are paying more, so you expect more.

The same goes with the $400 plastic ticket you bought for your $2000 hotel room, the presentation implies value. When it's a cheap box, it lowers that implied value.

Disney is losing out on cheap, easy implied value to save a few pennies.

No offense but dedicating a thread to this is nonsense. When Disney sent ellaborate boxes people complained of waste. Now that they've cut back people still complain. @Jess G i think the negative aspect of the forums is sucking you in. Don't let all of the negative nancieson the boards tarnish you views of the most magical place on Earth

If you judge value on the packaging then... nevermind

It's not the most magical place on earth and hasn't been for decades thanks to mismanagement and neglect. It's ironic that the bands they are delivering in crappy boxes cost at least 2 billion dollars to develop and implement at a time when the parks didn't have any improvements and certain rides were breaking down. So yes I think it does makes sense for people to be little upset when they are paying for a very expensive vacation and the stuff comes to you like some person sold you something on ebay. As far as the people who cried waste they could just recycle the boxes.

The poster didn't say anything about valuing a product based on packaging. They said if you spend that much money you expect it to be delivered in way that you would expect. Why do you think Apple has spent so much time and money on how they package their goods? It does matter. If you think it doesn't then you just don't understand how business works.

lmao. I think that's hilarious for you to say. My first sentence of the thread says "not complaining" I responded again and said "not complaining" I think it does deserve a thread. If not there wouldn't be over 60 responses.

Point is the packaging sucks. I am not one of those people that care deeply about recycling. I go to Disney twice a year. I spend over $7000 a year there and hell yeah I was disappointed when I saw it. Do I think it's a deal breaker? Or do I actually care? NO! - but for the 4th time I'll say I'm not complaining but I am disappointed.

This is like admitting to the police officer that yes, you were driving 82 miles per hour, but saying (not complaining, mind you) that you weren't speeding.

No you are complaining which is fine but make no mistake you are indeed complaining. This is your right because WDW did something to annoy you and whether it's an accurate beef or not is irrelevant.

First off: Yayyy I got my MBs! Not complaining but this is not attractive packaging. Its obviously just another way to cut costs but gosh it doesn't even compare to the old ones lol

This was the first thing I said .... I don't see much negativity there. But if you all take it as that then so be it.

Did they change ALL the boxes? Because this was my Passholder box from last year. Different style (it slides out vs hinged open) and I still have it because, I don't know, I thought it was cool.

I don't mind a less wasteful box, but it's always been the "little things" that differentiate Disney and makes it special. I feel like maybe they could have found a better compromise between waste and presentation.

I still have my box as well. This kind of thing matters.

The one thing that was interesting was the first releases that also had another box that came in the mail with the Mickey USB...I'm glad I still have mine...

And I still have a few Springfield napkins from Universal. Again, these are little things but they matter.
Kinda like annual pass holders who spent thousands of dollars for family and only got the same paper ticket that someone who bought a one day pass for 100 bucks back in the day and had to worry about it ripping or getting water on it. Now with bands doesn't matter much anymore but you couldn't understand how cheap that looks to someone. It would be like staying at a four seasons and the shower is just a tub with shower curtain like at a holiday inn for 49 bucks a night.

You do not need to buy a ticket at all to get one.
I am glad to have less waste and glad they made the changes.

Um the APs were a protected type of paper. I never had one rip or get destroyed. Yes plastic would have been nicer, but they weren't just plain paper.
