There's a lot of that going around it seems Jenn. Dave and I have been discussing the situation with his sister at length today, and I know in his heart he knows something is seriously wrong, but he's still not willing to call her an alcoholic.

It's a tough call to make.
Because once you say, you have to deal with it.
And it's always a mess.

Time for supper - have a good one!

Bye Jen!

He plans to go over to talk with her Wednesday, so he has a few days to digest everything I've pointed out to him today.

Sometimes. . .just sometimes. . .you get lucky and the person is ready to hear and accept what you have to say when you confront them. I've seen that happen and I've seen people turn their lives around. But I've also seen it go the other way far too many times.

Dave is never one to face facts anyway, and would much prefer to see things through rose-colored glasses. But there's just been so many things that have made me suspect this for a long time.....

Poor Dave...it's going to be hard for him but it really needs to be done. Believe me, she already knows she has a problem, and we can hope that hearing it from someone else will give her the impetus to get the help she needs. Even if he only plants the seed, there is a chance that it will grow. Alcoholics are among the most brilliant liars in the world - they lie to themselves and other, put so much energy into maintaing their drinking. If she does get sober, she will be amazed at her life once she redirects that energy into something positive.

See, she's retired from the Navy, but certainly young enough to be doing something productive. But she doesn't work, doesn't volunteer anywhere, rarely even goes to the nursing home anymore, even though she lives much closer than the rest of us do. But she always has excuses for not doing anything -
