That is a lot of money :ROFLOL:

Might I suggest a value resort? :lookaroun

And we're paying a total of about $246 for Labor Day weekend at CSR......for two nights of course :lookaroun
I wouldn't recommend a value resort in July though - too many tour groups now!

We are going in June or July. From reading here I don't want to go to the value during those months.
Eh, I never let myself be influenced by the opinions on the tour groups or whatever. Your trip is what you make of it. If you choose to be bothered by the supposed crap those tour groups bring, then you're not going to have fun. You can also ignore it and have fun during the trip.

But that's just me...I've been during busy seasons, and have stayed at the resorts with a bunch of cheerleaders and sports teams. I rolled my eyes a lot, but it was not a big deal to me.

That site was acting up for a while, but it seems OK now.

Not for nothing Susan, and you probably don't want to hear this, but have you considered renting a house off-property? That's what we do every February, and we save a ton of $$$ that way. This year we're getting a 5 bedroom house with pool and hot tub, completely furnished and applianced for a week for $840 with tax included. We eat breakfast there and stock up on late night snacks, so we save a lot on food too, and at the end of the day, we have our own pool to relax in without dealing with anyone else! You could still book the Contemporary for one night, and still be spending a lot less! Just give it some thought - the houses we've rented have been fabulous with plenty of room for us all (usually 10 of us)

This will be most likely thier one and only time to go so I would like them to be on site. I might change my mind later but I am just looking right now. I am just dreaming right now.:zipit: :ROFLOL: You know how dreams are.

Staying on site is nice, but it's way more than we can afford now. In fact with the new rates charging more on weekends, I don't think we'll ever stay on site again. I did a little research, and even taking into account the car rental and paying to park, we can do a getaway weekend off-site for about $120 cheaper than staying on site at a value!

I usually try to ignore most rudeness (unless my kids notice it too), but if my sleep gets interrupted, I get...ummm, cranky! Why put up with it if you don't have to? I think moving to the mods during July solves that nicely. That way, if the groups get really annoying, you can just head back to the room for a break. I know for our 7 day trip this fall at the All-stars, including 6 day hoppers and the dining plan, our total came to around $2550.

You must remember we go for 2-3 nights max at a time. The most we ever spend on any given trip is the trip we renew passes...this year we're upgrading to AP's....all other trips are much cheaper :D

I want to have options right now. I was thinking maybe getting my sisters and their families to stay at differant resorts and us stay in another. I have only stayed on site once and off site 5 or 6 times. I don't want to ever stay off site again but I might have to just to get my sisters to go also. I hope that makes since.:lookaroun

I know I did a room only quote for POP in Jan., and it was 350 for 3 nights. Of course, my AAA discount can bring that down to 280, which makes it easier to swallow. But if I can't upgrade two of our 6 day hoppers in October, it will be too cost prohibitive to buy even two day base tickets.

Maybe you could start a thread in Trip Planning about your tickets - I'm sure someone would chime in.

I have average my trips and I basicly get to go once in 6 yrs. I got to go in 2002 for 5 days and that is when I got the Disney magic. I stayed off site then. Then we went in 05 and stayed on site at the Contemp. for 3 nights. That was all we could stay. I fell in love even more.

I'd really think about renting a house then Susan - I know I mentioned on another thread about the dining plan changes, we will probably consider a townhome offsite from now on, and eating at least one of our meals there, just to save some money. There are still other deluxes I want to stay at, but I don't want to wait 5 years between WDW trips to be able to afford it. We could get a 3 BR townhouse for around $100 a night, and the only reason we didn't go with it was because OF the dining plan.

The way I look at it is like this, but of course not everyone is like me: we have NEVER stayed in a deluxe resort...only in Yacht Club over 15 years ago. We would like to, but even with moderates we don't use all the amenities. We stayed at POR in May and never used the pool, and never used the boat to DTD. We basically had no time and no inclination to. We would rather spend the money from Deluxe resorts on food, souvenirs, and repeat trips, which is why we always do values. We've done moderate recently because we have no other choice and the prices are reasonable. But I'd feel it would be a waste to stay in a deluxe unless you really are going to use the amenities. One day I'd love to do that, but for right now, I prefer my repeat trips on a budget

Even with sit-down restaurants, we're just starting to do that because of my DDE card. Before that, we've always done counter service

I highly recommend it. We have a blast at ours -and you don't have everyone crammed into one little room. We wash our clothes there, so we don't need to pack so much, and we don't have to worry about who's p e e d in our pool!
