Sum of All Thrills Returning?

SoaT was a surprising find for us on our trip last summer. We entered Innoventions to catch some much needed AC while waiting for or Test Track fast pass. Not only was SoaT a fun way to kill some time from the hot sun, but it also seemed to line up with the ideals of EPCOT. This would definitely be a welcome return.

Am I the only one that loves hearing the booming voices "Thank you for riding the _____ brought to you by the wonderful people at ______ they invite you......." or whatever the spiels are.

I wonder if they are opening this just while UoE is unavailable?
It might help a little bit... hourly capacities vary quite significantly though! Ellen I think is over 2000 and SOAT must be about 200?
I know Ellen is never anywhere near full though or I haven't seen it that way for some time!

are you suggesting we all pool our money together and sponsor this? "WDWMagic.com Members Present..."
Great idea! Maybe TDO won't leave perfectly great rides closed within their tragically overcrowded parks if each day we can find several tens of thousands of people to pay three digit numbers on entry and that same amount on premiums on food and beverage and merchandise!

Agreed. While it needs capacity help, it definitely was an interesting find. I've always wanted to see an Imagineering area where you get to design elements of attractions/CGI/themeing/etc. - ala the ImageWorks. Could be a nice way to recycle that whole side of Innoventions. (And, while it would pain me greatly, if a redo of Imagination is inevitable, a certain purple dragon could make a wonderful host for it.)

And the sad thing is it was supposed to close a lot sooner than this! It's a bit ridiculous.
Don't be surprised if it is opened at a moments notice to deal with large crowds. Xmas, New Years eve perhaps? The only way I can see that this wouldn't happen is if they started to gut it right away. @marni1971 and @WDW1974 would know if that were happening.

Energy won't reopen. As it stands.

Based on the condition it was in a bit over a week ago, I doubt they could open it if they wanted to...The middle theater cars were removed for the majority of the time, with only one working on one cycle (the back one, making for a really weird ride experience in the front row), the lighting failed to come up...at all...when entering the swamp, many of the movies were out of sync across the screens, one of the screens in the preshow was massively blurry to the point of being virtually unwatchable, speakers were buzzing as if they had blown...

Im guessing with the very advanced knowledge Disney had that it was closing, they decided to take a hands off approach to show maintenance and let the ride decay until closing...why waste money on basic show upkeep, when you know its dead in a few weeks anyway? It was one of the rare instances of "bad show" that I had complete understanding for...the amount of work needed to get that thing back to fully functional would have been an unjustifiable cost for something that was marked for death.

Sad to see it in this state, as its a classic, but also cant expect a them to put it down for a refurb just to gut it either...

As a kid in the '80's "Communicore" was one of my favorite places to visit between Epcot and MK. The last couple of years as we've visited as a family the kids weren't big enough for Sum of all Thrills and Innoventions East has been completely skipped. We did visit Mickey and friends in Innoventions West, but I don't think that counts. Heading back in January and hoping it has reopened and we can experience it along with Colortopia, maybe get a little of that nostalgia back.

Good grief. The pavilion has had multiple problems (some for a few years now) but like what you described nothing that's not fixable. Now it sounds just tragic.

It was pretty bad...Didn't get many pictures of the inside, but the top picture is the maximum light level in the first scene. The dinos are basically shadows and the fighting centipedes are almost invisible at this level.

the bottom image is how weird it was on the back car with no front car. Over four rides, this was the only time a middle section vehicle was in operation during the last week of July. Obviously cant show the speaker problems...

On a side not, during my recent trip, the same car problem plagued GMR...In three rides, every trip was "gangster" only...there was never a train in the front for the "western", which made it all feel insanely wrong when you are all alone in the back of Oz and the witch is yelling and pointing at empty space and there is 70% of the space in the final theater just open to the left of you.
