Success With Million Dreams?

the Mayor of Main Street

the Mayor of Main Street was wondering around the middle of the road a few weeks ago and was standing right next to us when we opted to get a photopass. So I asked for the mayor to join us in a picture...he refused but said that he said that the photopass guy could take our picture with my camera. Wonder what the 'legal' deal is with not being able to pose with guests in a photopass photo???

I think it has been a success in Florida but not so much in CA. Which just exposes the stupidity of not doing separate marketing for both resorts. I continue to wonder how much of the attendance gains at WDW(except for DAK which is def. cause of Everest) the last couple of years has more to do with the MYW ticket plans and people staying longer than actual extra bodies going thru the turnstiles.

People can say they like it or conjecture all they want, but the truth of the matter is that it's not getting top billing anymore and they're not linking it to openings or anything that's happening for the rest of the year.

That, to me, speaks volumes about how much confidence they have in it.

Our family thought it was great fun to get a few bonus surprises on our visit.

We were heading down a trail at AK and had one grumpy child in tow.....did not help to be held up by a CM asking us to wait as there was " traffic congestion ahead" on the path. When we turned the corner we were all awarded dream fast passes and needless to say it made grumpy's day and TRIP....still talks about it. We later were standing in front of my fav ride BTM and the CM asked us if we wanted to ride? He took us to the front of the line and we got to select our car...THE BACK seat IS the fastest and THE BEST!!!!:D

Did get my mouse ears in the mail at last too......

I personally would like to see them continue to randomly award surprises, I like that they orchestrate different methods of presenting them, must make it more interesting to the presenters themselves. We were keen to note CM's walking around with little black bags that resembled larger camera bags....wondering what stash they were carrying....:lookaroun

LONG LIVE A MILLION DREAMS!!!!!:king: (go ahead make it a Billion Dreams....)

During my trip in January, these 2 ladies walked up to my boyfriend and I and gave us their "Dream Fastpasses"--it had 7 fastpasses for different rides (we got to go one some rides that I love but would never wait in the lines for!).
I thank those 2 ladies for a wonderful day!

That wasn't a true Dream Squad moment, but after we were getting off of BTM (from the fastpass), we were given YOMD buttons and wristbands for a special EMH for MK that night! It was so awesome getting to wear the pin around, all of the CMs congratulated us!!

What is EMH?...Also, with the Dream FastPass looks like each ride only once?
(Not that I'm complaining just asking)...:)

While I think the promotion is fun and have seen great reactions when an "awarding" happens, it also raises a sort of expectation for everyone. While we were there for a 9 day visit recently, my 11y/o was fixated on a Dream Fastpass after he pointed one out and I explained. Well we went through the great vacation, but without any awards, and I had to try to explain that. That sort of thing is the only downside that I see.

Streetmosphere people and others are part of the Actors' Equity Union. If a photopass person would take a photo of them and you purchased it, we would then have to pay them a royalty. It is part of their union contract that they get a share in any money made off their image. We have a hard enough time keeping track of paying photo royalies to Pixar, Johnny Depp, Disney Channel, etc. without trying to add local actors to the mix as well.

For example, photopass cameras can not photograph guests with Belle from the MGM stage show, but we can photograph Belle at alot of other places in WDW.

Hope that helps.

I won my ears on The Land... I don't know about everyone else on the boat, but my best friend who was with me still refers to that occasion as the happiest he has ever seen anyone ever... I could have died happy and it was just a hat ... personally I really didn't expect to win anything on my trip given the odds, but it really was a treat- I wish this type of random magic would continue after this celebration; it really gives another dimension to the entire park experience...

Photopass photographers are not permitted to photograph CM's. Don't ask me why!

Oh, my friend got one of those Magical Moment certificates signed by Ariel and Prince Eric at the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. He got to welcome the audience to the show.
And it was all because we heard IllumiNations as we were walking in, and he asked the CMs what the noise was. They told him, and he said "Oh good, I thought it was the end of the world." The CMs thought it was funny, and gave him the chance to welcome the audience.
Good times =)

But yeah, on our trip in early February, we only saw a few random people with dream FPs. No ears, and I didn't see any dream team people around. Not complaining at all, it just seemed that there was very little going on that week.

Yes, for my family because we got dream fastpasses for MGM at the Rock N' Roller Coaster with Aerosmith and a guy working at Space Mountain gave us 4 fastpass re-entry.
