Styracosaurus Missing from Dinosaur

I took some photos on last weeks ride evac. One of the cool things was that across from the Carnotaurus where they take your picture, they keep the replacement to the charging Carnotaurus. It's not lit, but when the lights are on you can see it's head.

Can you post 'em?

I think it would have been funny if the ride ended with "They're not gonna make it! They're not gonna make it!" followed by complete silence and darkness, followed by the lights coming on and Dr. Seeker says, "Well, that was a bust."

Ha Kingdom Keepers WIN!

Glad someone got that one....:D Waiting waiting waiting for #3....4/6....did Chernabog really LEAVE the AK? :lookaroun First he is responisble for the Yeti malfunctioning and now dino's are missing....sure hope they rescue Wayne....only he can sort this mess out....:animwink:

That reminds me I just saw a post about Joe Rohde snapping photos at AK recently....maybe he was on lookout for abnormally large bat.... Think there is much more to this story than a simple refurb....

I guess they are getting lazy with alternate scenes. In the past, when they had a rehab on a figure, they covered the figure, then put up a few pop up Raptor heads and/or use the spare Carno head, and then edit the audio on the ride vehicles so it would make a more seamless ride.

What's bothersome about Dinosaur is that there are dead areas that could be fixed with some fake plants. Nevermind the cool effects that have been removed, simple things that would make the attraction look better.

It's as if they ran out of money after the first 30 seconds after you go into the past. We rarely hear about "classic" attractions at parks outside of the Magic Kingdom getting plussed, and I think it's time Dinosaur got the attention it deserves. The ride system is in place, it just needs a bit more detail to it to make the quality that of the E-Ticket it was intended to be.

Agreed, cuz compared to ija, it is severely lacking. Dinosaur is a good ride, but IJA is a great ride.

Supposedly, the interior theming of Countdown to Extinction isn't just incomplete, it's barely installed. I can't find my source now but I read somewhere that only 50-30% of the planned interior theming and decoration ever actually made it into the show building before the Animal Kingdom opening date forced them to call it complete.

Sadly, I don't see the CTX ever getting "finished." It's not as if the average guest cares that all the trees and waterfalls weren't put it, or that what actually IS in there is lit with black lights like a rock show, and besides that Animal Kingdom still only has 4 real rides. Take one of them offline and you're crippling the park.

I agree, but I think it's easier for them to take Dinosaur offline than it is to take Everest offline, hence my idea of improving Dinosaur to the E-Ticket level and in turn softening the blow when Everest has to be taken offline.

Of course, adding another land as has long been rumored would also solve this problem, but that would be years down the road and the Expedition Everest problem is already 3 years in.

Ha! I knew I hadn't imagined that! I remember one time when the Sauropod was out, and they had that silly raptor head instead. I remember thinking it looked so out of place.

Does anyone have a picture of these raptor heads? And more of an explanation on the "spare" Carnotaurus, how all that backup stuff works? That sort of thing really intrigues me.

It's a really a shame if only 50% of the interior made it into the attraction. Dinosaur could really be a top class experience comparable to Indiana Jones if you weren't enveloped in total darkness most of the time... and of course if half of the effects that DID make it into the ride worked as functioned.

No pictures, sorry, but the Carnotaur head is really, really lame. It's basically a static head in some bushes that growls at you.

I'd love to Rehab Countdown and add and fix a ton of stuff. It's one of those rides I can't say is really great-but unconditionally love.
