I had no problems what so ever with my AP and the new system!

Oh that's good, maybe they've addressed the problem. My husband and I were there in July and we both had problems. The single finger scanner wouldn't even attempt to read our passes.

I thought those scanners only saved the info for a few hours (so someone different than the original person didn't try to use the AP/park hopper). It didn't sound like they used a different system for the AP. Also, my fiancee inadvertantly used my dad's AP and vice versa (they ended up switched by accident since we hold them all together) without a problem. They aren't blood related or similar in size/frame. We discovered our mistake after we got in the park . . . we asked someone about it a few months later and they said the finger scanners are basically just Disney scare tactics to discourage people from using an AP that wasn't theirs.

Well, it's not the finger reader's fault, it's the turnstyle magnetic strip reader's fault. So the problem was just consequenly occuring at that turnstyle. After a few months, those strips do wear out.

I can assure you that they do actually take your biometric readings. I have been stopped a few times. During busy periods, they finger readers are not used to keep the flow up.

The passes worked at the other 3 parks after we tried to use the single finger reader but wouldn't work at any of the MK turnstyles after that point. I guess it was just a fluke, glad to know it was just us. We avoided the single finger readers for the rest of the trip, I'll be less afraid next time.

Groovy!!! I am happy to hear that. I personally never had a problem with the peace sign thing, but I think the one finger scan will certainly speed things up a bit!!! Thanks for the info!!!!!!! Belle

I believe that when passes are bought in groups, the whole batch is coded so that you can use any in the group that was purchased together. Essentially, it links your biometrics to all of the passes purchased together for like a family. Note, I'm not totally certain on this, but I think i read it somewhere.

I had the same problem. I used a single day ticket at MK one day without problem (so my fingers aren't deformed or something. ). I then used a 10-day hopper pass (long story why I didn't use it the first day) at Epcot the next day with the 2-finger system. We tried to hop back to MK that night, and the one-fingers wouldn't accept me. I'm going back in a month, so it will be interesting to see how the scanners take my ticket.

I have used my AP through the entire transition without a problem. From the days when the only 1-finger scanners could only be found at a couple turnstiles at the MK to nowadays with a pretty much 50-50 split.

I've already seen several people having problems with the new scanners. The comment I've heard most from CMs has been "are you using the same finger you used the first day?"

MK is now 100% on one-finger scanners, and has been for about a month or so.

again, if the machine takes the ticket and holds it inside and prompts for a finger reading, and won't work, then it's the biometric reader's fault, if it won't even take the ticket, then it's the reader or your ticket that is the problem.

I was working overtime at Blizzard Beach turnstiles yesterday morning and they had just gotten the turnstile software upgraded that night. Now, while there isn't much that Guests will notice (except for something like "Please insert finger"), the system is different for Cast Members due to new wording and abilities. Apparently, this is in preparation for the turnstiles' biometric readers to be switched over to the new one-finger scanners at the end of next week.

I will confirm that. We were told in Jan '05 by Hastings at Guest Relations in the DtD Marketplace that the system groups the passes.

i always have problems with my ticket for IOA cos they never scan my finger right, they make you sign your ticket beforehand and if your signature doesn't match (as mine never does) they won't let you in. eventually i got in when i saw someone else as the turnstiles.

Ridiculous, poorly researched information. They bring up this same crap every time Disney makes any changes regarding the biometrics. They need to just get over it already and report facts instead of junk.

That was the most bogas article I've ever read. Besides, if it was taking your fingerprint, which it is not, and you're conserned about that, you either have a guilty conscience or have nothing more important to worry about.

That was the dumbest artice ever, and my parents believed every word of it.

Just shows how manipulated people become due to the media.

Yep... and some people say the media doesn't "make" the news.

Looks like their ACLU source needs to do a little homework before spouting off a bunch of trash. Of course, that's not their norm.

The systems looks at the print, runs an algorithym to compute a mathmatical representation of the characteristics of the print. It then stores the number generated for future comparisons. It does NOT store an image of the fingerprint.

A persons fingerprint cannot be created from that numerical representation. It's not capable of a backwards creative process since it's simply based on characteristics. If the government asked for their database, they wouldn't find squat since it's meaningless without someone's actual print for comparisons using the SAME algorithym and encryption keys.

When I said 50-50 I meant resort-wide :) In other words, I've never had a problem with my print while switching from one type of scanner to other

So did Drudge, cause that's where I saw it.

Please remember the rule against political "discussions." If they had only remain calm, polite, exchanges of ideas and opinions, they never would have been banned. ;)

No one in this thread has crossed that line....yet.
