Stroller for a 4 year old?

We're going to Disney World in September. My son will be 4 1/2. He's right around 40 lbs and 40 inches now and doesn't really fit well in our stroller anymore so we haven't used it in quite a while. I'm wondering if:

A) strollers that are for rent at the parks would accomidate a child this size?

b) If so, have any of you used one for a child of his age/size? Is it worth it?

I'm sure he wouldn't want to ride in it but later in the day may be really tired and crabby. I'm also worred about him staying with us. I HATE the idea of the "leashes" I see folks use for their kids (he's not a dog). I don't want to spend the money on one and then just use it to cart around our bags and things instead of our son.

What do you all recomend?

Totally inappropriate. What is wrong, in your opinion, with taking themed pictures? Or is it just that YOU have stuck a tween child in a stroller just so that you didn't have to hear about tired feet. Don't talk about other people and the things they enjoy doing for a hobby... last time I checked, cramming children into strollers wasn't a hobby, and opinions on that subject were asked for.

I don't think her question was inappropriate. In this day and age of dangers (and I am in no way suggesting that Yellow Shoes poses a danger) I think that taking pictures of random strangers (on purpose) is not the wisest thing to do.

Themed pictures are fine, we all take them and share them here and in other places. How would you feel if you saw your child posted (without your permission) on some website and the picture was taken by a stranger (again without your permission)? Teachers in school cannot even take pictures in class without your written permission anymore.

Personally, I am concerned at her inclusion of "you have been warned"... that could be perceived by some as a threat (again, not that I am saying she is a dangerous, vindictive person).

What I, or anyone else chose to do is my business...would she, you or anyone else be happy if I took your picture (without permission) and posted it and made fun of what I perceive to be your questionable taste in clothes? Of course not, but what you or anyone else wear is their business.

Just my take on the whole thing. Personally, I think things have been blown out of proprtion over a simple question.

But taking pictues of random peoples children (without consent) is? How is the going around taking pictues of other peoples children NOT inappropriate? You are actually ok with that? I have no problem what so ever with "themed" pictures, but as a parent, that's one thing that is not acceptable.

As for the rest of your post...totally inappropriate. First off, it's not any of your buisinees how old my kids were the last time they sat in a stroller (and the reason they sat in one). Second, yes, opinions on the matter is the subject. Taking pictures of other peoples kids is not.

I am pretty sure that Yellow Shoes was kidding... and I am almost POSITIVE you know this, too. THAT was the joke I was referring to. I am sure that she walks around taking pictures of kids in strollers on her vacation. Seriously. I feel sorry for YOU for being so naive. I don't think any of us in this thread want people to take unsolicited pictures of children, nor do I think Yellow Shoes actually engages in this act. Learn to joke around.

No, I have no way of knowing that she's kidding. This is a message board. Within the written word, emotions are shown through smilies. Yellow Shoes didn't use any. Her post sounded serious to not only me, but many others. If you want to call me naive for taking things seriously when it comes to children, then so be it. Seems to me that you need to take a chill pill.

You don't know me and you dont know anything about me. Who do you think you are to "talk" to me in this manner?

Have a magical day

So we've established:

If you want to rent a stroller for your child with your money for your vacation, by all means, do so, other people's opinions be damned. :)

and

Joking about taking picture of kids who are in no way, shape or form known or related to you = not funny.

Reminds me of Spongebob Squarepants "Ripped pants" episode.

"Ripping pants: knocks 'em dead. Pretending to drown... .NOoooooooooo"

 :lookaroun

Anybody? Scott? No? :lookaroun

By your own words, you are "pretty sure" that Yellow Shoes is kidding. You cannot be 100% positive though and that's the reason people reacted the way that they did.
