Not completely true. Netflix is giving Knives Out 2 a week in theaters but they didn’t give Blonde a wide release. It played on a handful of screens. White Noise is out in December but I’m skeptical it’ll play in multiplexes. Maybe it will. Not sure about Amazon or what prestige titles they have forthcoming. Sorta seems they’ve backed off feature productions?
Blonde had the kiss of death NC-17 rating. None of the major chains would have touched it.

It was also nearly three hours long and only 42% positive on Rotten Tomatoes.
Blonde was also just in poor taste. Ana De Armas gives an excellent performance and the cinematography and score are all top-notch. But the movie is just three hours of Marilyn being physically, sexually and emotionally abused. And the way it was done made it feel like the director was reveling in her misery rather than trying to shine a light on an important issue. You leave the movie feeling like he didn't actually care about Marilyn or raise awareness about the abuse but instead wanted to make a graphic, shocking movie that would create buzz and awards hype over how far it went. The whole thing felt very exploitative and lacking in compassion. I would only give it a 3 or 4/10, and that is only because of De Armas's performance.

Blonde would have flopped big time… my wife and I were looking forward to it… as my wife is very into the history of Marilyn… but we have heard it icky and exploitive… we have not even watch it on Netflix and I am not sure we will since I had heard it is not very factual… I have heard Ana De Armis is fantastic though and deserves an Oscar Nomination but probably will not receive one due to the awful movie it is attached to

Hey I liked Fun and Fancy Free, Ichabod and Mr. Toad, and The Three Cabalerros!
I don't hate the package films, but it is easily my least favorite era of Disney.

I like the Mickey and the Beanstalk portion of Fun and Fancy Free. It's an admittedly classic short and I loved it as a kid. But the Bongo the Bear portion was always dull to me. And the live-action bits with Luana Patten being alone at a party with Edgar Bergen and his creepy puppets...haven't aged well. I know Charlie McCarthy was popular in the 40s, but the puppet just comes off as creepy nowadays. You feel like yelling "Run Luana! Before the psychopath and his evil puppets kill you!"

I like the Sleepy Hollow segment of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, but not the Wind in the Willows.

But Saludos Amigos is super dull (although interesting from a historical perspective as in why it was made), and Make Mine Music and Melody Time were crappy Fantasia rip-offs.

The Three Caballeros is an amusing, chaotic mess.

I honestly enjoyed "The Whale Who Wanted to Sing at the Met" from Melody Time plus I can never get tired of seeing some of Ward Kimball's animated works in some of those films.

Oh, I love a good Target run! Don't you?!? o_O

You should see me when I get to that candle aisle. I just go crazy smelling all of them; wrinkling my nose and gagging a bit at the gross ones, and inhaling deeply and profoundly at the yummy ones. It's not a Target run without a stop at the candles. (Which I did this evening after I tried to find Strange World stuff with no success. I came home with something called Cedarwood Musk, with 3 wicks. It's going now! It will help La Jolla transition from beachy to cozy for the next few months until spring arrives.)
That is the answer to the question "What do you like about Target?", which I did not ask. My question was why do you care about what merchandise does or does not exist for a movie that you do not care about and are not going to see?

I just thought it was interesting to see if anything existed in the toy aisles for Strange World. (Plus I love a good Target run!)

This is, after all, the big-budget family Christmas movie from Walt Disney Animation. Is it not?

Disney famously sells toys and kids stuff tied to their animated movies. At Christmas.

Or at least they used to.

Agreed on Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros from an artistic perspective. But the absolute gift that arrived 75 years later from those wartime films was the Viva Navidad! show at Disney California Adventure. That ranks up there with me as some of the best park entertainment of the last 30 years, alongside Fantasmic!, Paint The Night, and the Tiana showboat show (they only did for one year).

Viva Navidad! is Christmas perfection for me, and truly wonderful. I'd buy a ticket to DCA just to see that show (well, and maybe go to Cars Land)!

If you haven't seen it in person, check it out on YouTube from one of the better bloggers. Save it for after Thanksgiving though, because it's Christmas cheer overload. About all it's missing is Charo herself popping out of the top of the float! 😄

Got it, and as I mentioned above the perky salesgirl said there was some stuff available online.

But big, suburban Targets aren't selling any of this stuff in their stores. In the weeks before Christmas. That's weird, don't you think? 🤔

I did see last night that there were several giant Christmas toy displays for FAO Schwarz, which is apparently a new partnership with Target. I found that interesting. As if a 10 year old (not living in NYC) knows what FAO Scharwz is, and their Millennial parents probably didn't even see that movie with Tom Hanks 30 years ago.

Running time and reviews matter less than the NC-17 rating. In fact, most studios have it in every contract the NC-17 will require a film to be rededited. It's the policy of nearly every major chain not to show them (Ironically, if the exact same film is "unrated" its not an issue)

LOL
Typical
I'm looking forward to Strange World and am glad to see the gay representation. I will see it in the cinema sometime next week. I still think it will be a major financial disappointment.

That's not the end of the world, though. Many Disney movies that are now seen as classics were flops when they first came out. It will be interesting to see whether Strange World grows an audience over time or if it fades into obscurity.

I have a hard time picturing this movie being worse than Chicken Little, Home on the Range, Ralph Breaks the Internet or the package films.

I agree about "Ralph Breaks the Internet", that is the very worst Disney movie ever. "Strange World" will have to settle for 2nd worst ever. It just doesn't look like my cup of tea and I don't think it's many other people's as well.

What do you guys think? January???

That's what I'm thinking. .... Yep .... all the Strange World merch should be in the Character Warehouse by then. So make sure not to get it right when it comes out. You can save a lot of money by waiting just 2 months.

Wow… you really are a troll… it certainly feels like you post things just for a reaction
