Storybook Land Canal Boats in Storybook Circus?

Is there enough room where the tents and kids water play area is for an attraction like this? It would seem that the area is just being temporarily put together by leaving the old tents and putting a water play area which is easily removable. So what do you think they will put in its place? Storybook Land Canal Boats or Casey Jr Train Ride would help to fill out this area and fit with the theme.

I am not a fan of clones. If they do add something like that, I hope they make it different from the DL and DLP versions.

I sure hope they do something! I wish we were getting matterhorn or some kind of ride. I hate to see empty space at the magic kingdom.

yeah i sure don't see that coming...BUT from the looks of things, I really think the whole Circusland is basically a cheap temporary thing until some type of attraction is planned for that spot. It's prime real estate. You could definitely fit a decent sized attraction there. Obviously, I don't see anything replacing the Circusland anytime soon though...maybe 8-10 years down the road.

I still think they could have kept the Houses and Donald's boat and just freshened up the area with new meet and greets and maybe one other smaller ride.

As a SoCal'er, you probably know the charm and whimsy of riding StorybookLand Canal Boats or Casey Jr. Circus Train at Disneyland. It's such a lovingly maintained and beautifully presented throwback to the 1950's era of Disneyland. So inately Walt, and so clearly from a different time. I save my trip on StorybookLand for Christmastime, when all the little houses are decorated with tiny garlands and wreaths.

Here's an excellent blog post that details all the intricacy of decorating StorybookLand for Christmas. Look at those tiny wreaths and teensy garlands and small Christmas trees! Can you imagine any of that standing up to the Florida climate, let alone the well-document lack of regular maintenance and upkeep at WDW attractions??? I can't.

That said, I'm afraid the concept of StorybookLand Canal Boats would not translate well to WDW. First of all, there's the climate and weather that is not hospitable enough to handle small outdoor boat rides. (I think that's why they don't do Disneyland's popular Davy Crockett Canoes at WDW). And there's also the lack of maintenace on the details at WDW, and StorybookLand is an attraction that only works because it is full of tiny details.

But there's also the fact that I don't think you can expect 21st century audiences to sit in a small boat for 10 minutes while a hostess coos into the PA system about little villages and tableaus and miniature houses from old fairy tales as you float by.

Without that living touchstone to the Walt-era past, and that long SoCal tradition of taking little children on StorybookLand for their first time, it's going to seem extremely hokey and boring to most East Coast audiences who have absolutely no point of reference for such a ride or experience at "Disney", as they so eloquently call the place.

Sort of how I imagine Small world would go over if it were introduced as a new attraction today. Lets face it It is loved because of the history and connection to Walt, I am not so sure that it would be as popular if it were put into a park for the first time this year. I may be wrong, just my take..

Not enough room.
The water play area will be quite substantial and won't be removed anytime soon.
The theme is all wrong.

So...no. Ain't happening.

Not ever gonna happen.

But weather isn't really an issue. They added it to DLP in the mid-90s and they have a much harsher climate than O-Town does.

I just hope they can use the NEW tents to house a ride of some kind. The Canal Boats would be cool to have but I have to say I have the feeling if there is any further Fantasyland Expanding to be done, its going to happen on the property currently being hogged up by the out of date Autopia attraction.

I think they should remove the tents...and hide a show building. The opening to the show building would be a VW Bug...and when you walk inside the car, there's a clown show inside.

People always think that those clowns are so squished in the car...but when they get into the car...it's spacious inside and it's just clowns being clowns.

What, exactly, is the appeal of riding a dinky boat through crappy dioramas?

I'm obviously missing something here.

And no, I don't like "Small World", either. Imagine debuting that ride today; chaos is the kindest word I could use to describe it.

I wasn't too impressed with it at DL...but the little ones seem to like it. (They're not crappy dioramas though).

I ride it all through the year, but at Xmas time, I ride it at night to see the Xmas trees lit up. My favorite is the multicolor light on the tree by 7 dwarves cottage.
I did love the DLP version because it featured Chernabog.
