Storybook Land Canal Boats in Storybook Circus?

Not ever gonna happen.

But weather isn't really an issue. They added it to DLP in the mid-90s and they have a much harsher climate than O-Town does.
Took the words out of my mouth!

DLPs is dare I say it nice than the original IMHO, including a simple but effective ride sysetm.

What, exactly, is the appeal of riding a dinky boat through crappy dioramas?

I'm obviously missing something here.

Yes, I believe you are missing something. It's a charming little boat ride past lovingly tended to miniatures of Disney animated films and Bonzai-type tiny gardens. That's it. Period.

As for StorybookLand, the overall appeal is that it's a ride. Two of them actually; a boat ride and a train ride that are interwoven around each other, taking up a rather small space but adding two distinctly different and rather unique rides to Fantasyland.

It's fascinating to me that even after the FLE is completed the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland will still be woefully short of rides and attractions. I would think adding new rides, of all stripes and sizes, to this rather parched attractions desert would be something folks were interested in.

Magic Kingdom Fantasyland/Circusland/Toontown Circa 2013 = 9 Rides
it's a small world
Peter Pan's Flight
Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh
Little Mermaid
Mine Train Coaster
Dumbo
Teacups
Carousel
Great Goofini Coaster

Disneyland Fantasyland/Toontown = 14 Rides
it's a small world
Matterhorn Bobsleds
StorybookLand Canal Boats
Casey Jr. Circus Train
Gadget's Go Coaster
Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin
Dumbo
Teacups
Carousel
Peter Pan's Flight
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Alice In Wonderland dark ride
Pinnochio's Daring Journey
Snow White's Scary Adventures

Mars needs women, and Magic Kingdom needs rides! Fantasyland is one of the areas of the park where the lack of rides is at its most glaring, especially compared to the equally established and mature Disneyland version of Fantasyland.

Absent the polish, that's precisely what I said.

That is VERY interesting. I had no idea that the two rides would be built together, but after seeing the youtube video of the attractions I can see where it would make sense to just intertwine them together right from the beginning. It gives people on the train something to look at and another attraction in the boat ride.

Why are some saying that this will NEVER happen?

In regards to it not fitting the theming, they were going to have Pixie Hollow in that spot right next to Dumbo. How does the Casey Jr Train Ride not fit into the storybook theme of the area?

I agree that DLPs is nicer. For one, it loads far more efficiently. And there are more and better show scenes as well. And there is no host(ess) doing voice-over. Rather, there are signs that identify the scenes as you pass.

Were it added to MK, I'd want the DLP version, and I'd be happy with that addition.

But I don't think it'll happen. There is the space issue, but my sense is that there's plenty of space if they wanted to add it -- just break into the forested area between the back of FLand and the train tracks. Moreover, though, I don't that it would excite enough people in this day and age. It's quaint, peaceful, and a nice bit of history with the tie to Walt's ideas, but there's little movement, no actual story being told, virtual no sounds or effects. I suspect that the money could better be spent on something else.

No quibble that Disneyland's has more in it, but you did leave out Mickey's Philharmagic -- not a ride, but certainly an attraction, and one of the best in FLand. On the flip side, you could include the castle walkthrough at Disneyland as well.

Because there is no room in Storybook Circus or Fantasyland for it.

Considering that the whole area north of Dumbo was going to be a Pixie Hollow mini-land, I can't see how there isn't room in Fantasyland for a Storybook Canal Ride. It's just that's not what they're deciding to do with that space.

And I agree with them. Storybookland is one of my favorite rides at Disneyland and I hope to one day ride the one at Paris, but I don't think that it would be the best use of land at the Magic Kingdom.

Well, yeah...
The old Toontown plot would be big enough, but as you said, they are doing other things with it. It will all be used by the tents, water play area, two small outdoor guest areas, and infrastructure.
No room for Storybook in addition to that.

Maybe Im confusing myself but the area where pixie hollow was going to be, is going to be storybook circus in full right? including the just closed toontown. I thought there was a little area north of that that had some expansion space, is that going to storybook circus also?

Is this area going to be "temporary"?

Casey Jr. Train

I've been reading these boards for along time but very seldom post. I'm very excited about this fantasy land expansion, but I feel like it is still lacking greatly compared to Disneyland. I would love to see them add the Casy Jr. train to Fantasyland, but you can leave out the Canal Boats, to save room. Just let Casey Jr. go all around Fantasy land especially the new additions in the back, and then have it go to the New and Improved Toon Town that is built across the tracks back behind the Circus land on the other side of the Train station. That would be a nice little train ride around fantasyland and show the new Toon Town, kind of like the people mover in Tomorrow Land. Fits great with the Circus and Fantasy themes. I know that is not in the plans to be done but I always thought that would be a great addition to the expansion. It definitely needs more then what they are adding, and subtracting. I've been disappointed for years with the lack of additions and love to the parks in Florida for sometime. I mean when Walt first announced the project, he talked about the expansion possiblities. I really don't think he would be very happy with the state of the parks if he were still alive. They squeeze so much more into Disneyland with so little land to work with. They need to share the love and care with Disney World since this is their crown jewel resort. Ok i'm done venting and rambling on and on. Thanks

Yes. All Storybook Circus. Everything north of the blue tent will be infrastructure and backstage areas.

Nope. I don't think so. Everything I see would indicate it is there to stay.

which for many of us, is a letdown.
I personally hate the whole Storybook Circus area...never really loved Toontown Fair either, but like it better than what I've seen is replacing it. Now, if you told me an E-ticket attraction would someday soon replace those stupid tents, maybe I'd be excited.

The Fantasyland 'Expansion' does have it's charming additions...I'm looking forward to the Little Mermaid ride, Be Our Guest retaurant, and The Seven Dwarves Mine Train...it's just that stuff northeast of there I'm not excited about. (oh yeah, and losing the Snow White ride for a meet and greet)

Now that's the part that I'm hoping is temporary! I hope that in a couple of years, the Princesses find a new M&G somewhere and we get a new dark ride in that space. Perhaps a long shot, but I'll keep my fingers crossed.
