Storybook Circus Entrance Photo

To be honest, I don't think they could put the ticket booth and cart in the way of the entrance. As nice as it looks in the art, in person, there just wouldn't be enough walking space for guests if you block the center.

Sign lit up....

Notice the souviner sign is lit up too. Is that going to open much earlier than November? I assume it's not bound to the 19th date since the "land" is technically open already.

There was just a permit issued for the shop yesterday so they are still doing some form of work on it. I think they will open the other parts of Storybook Circus as soon as they are ready and not wait for November.

Interesting they went with cool white LEDs for the popcorn lighting. I would have thought they'd go with soft white/yellow LEDs to better match the old world feel of the forest area.

The yellow leds definitely remind me more of an old school circus, but i do like the white ones for bringing the old school vibe into more of a cleaner advanced look. Dont as me why, but I thought of the movie "Big Fish" and their circus and that town in the middle of the forest when i saw these lit up.

That's a good question. Looking at the pictures of the sign during the day you can see that "Storybook" doesn't have popcorn lights on it like "Circus" does. Maybe it look better in person, that picture isn't very good, or maybe there will eventually be other lights on it.
You are right. The Orlando Theme Park News pictures clearly show that the "Storybook" does not have lights.

As a note, I noticed that the new "Big Top" over at the tent looks to be same. Souvenirs has lights, but Big Top does not, from what I can tell.

The big top Souvenirs sign has the lights above it to help see the non lighted parks of the sign. Wonder if they still plan to do something like that on the Storybook Circus sign.

Good point. I don't currently see anything there for lights. I wonder if they will put spotlights/searchlights up that hit the sign. I would inagine they will have ground lighting to point at the circus posters they look to be hanging on the sides. I'll admit that the current night picture of that sign looks odd, with the big unlit part where storybook goes. Hopefully it is just the current unfinished state.

I like it. This is one case where I prefer the scaled-down version (which seems more authentic to the backstory of the "circus that came to town") to the one from the concept art.

Still, I wouldn't be surprised if the entrance sign ends up getting a few more additions. Every time I think something in New Fantasyland is "done," they add another layer to it that makes it even better (e.g., the grass on top of the Little Mermaid rocks, the light posts on the Bridge to Beast's castle, the emblems on the castle walls...)

I love the sign itself... but I got one question. What does the back of the sign look like? Since it's see through, the words will all be backwards?

Which adds to the authenticity I think. The circus does look great but I will always be of the opinion yhey should have kept with the European forest motif with Pixie Hollow and/or Alice in Wonderland or similar franchises.

The sign looks great in person and it doesn't have a harsh white light look to it at all. It really suits the land/area! As noted only the word "Circus" is lit up at night but it still looks good. On it's first night in operation it had a few issues with the popcorn lighting not all working... however the next night every light was working perfectly!

If they can fix that sign, you would think they could get the same guy to fix the Train Station and The GF popcorn lights.

I came across a pretty good close-up of the FL model's sign taken by Jack Spence:

From the looks of it they'll most likely put up banners left and right of the main sign. I can imagine them using seasonal banners as well.

This stuff looks really cool. We are waiting until 2015 to visit to be sure everything is opoen, especially the Snow White attraction.
