Storm Riders Replacing SSE??

But there is: The agreement that they wouldn't, which prevents using that ride system with that theme. Disney ain't gonna do anything to tick OLC off. The partnership is far too valuable.

Your right but im sure Disney could work out some sort of agreement with OLC if they really wanted to clone the ride. I do know for a fact the imagineers desigened a version of JTTCOTE for Animal Kingdom as a good friend of mine saw the model with his own eyes.

This theme thing brings up some interesting questions too. Do you know if the TDS version is narrated by Captain Nemo? if so, then a hypothetical american version can be narrated by one of the actual charecters from the book. They could also change out the scenes to include scenes from the book (how about a scene with icthyosaurs and plesiosaurs AA's, giant insects, etc.) They could also drop the name "Mt.Prometheus" and obviously they wouldnt tie it together with 20k. These are just a few things, im sure the Imagineers could do tons more to make it different enough from the tokyo version.

I just really really hope the Magic Kingdom gets an original attraction on the scale of JTTCOTE that isnt a pixar or cartoon tie-in.

Don't know about that. Hard to top the one at TDS. Definately not with the budget it would get over here.

Well talk remains that there will be some "management reorganization" soon that will hopefully allow creative people to have the budgets they need to do products right.

I've seen the video, it looks like you go through a cave past some glowing rocks, plants, and various creatures on a slow moving vehicle, then come face to face with a giant cave creature before plummeting quickly out of the side of the mountain. Is there anything that i missed?
Don't get me wrong, the giant monster is absolutely amazing, my jaw was on the floor when i saw that part; but i think that rest of the ride could easily be "punched up" a bit.

Is it true that it uses the same ride system as Test Track?

Storm Riders is another SIM. That makes as much sense as putting STAR TOURS inside of Spaceship Earth. Perhaps if they go the rollercoaster route it could be STARWARS themed too, and you could go wizzing by a scene of the Cantina. All of those ideas are BAD FITS for SSE.

I'm not sure what WDW/WDI will do with SSE. But I would hate to see them move away from a ride which is equal parts education and entertainment.

EXCEPT that Disney owns the ride system used for JITCOTE And "Journey to the center of the earth" was created by Jules Verne and it is in public domain for ANYONE to use.

OLC can try to protect it all they want. There is nothing stoping Disney from making a brand new version of JITCOTE over here in the states (similar to how our TOT is different than tokyo's). I personally want a different version anyway and i'm sure Disney could make a far grander ride here than the one in tokyo.

Unfortunately this isn't true. Disney signed an agreement (already stated by Lee) saying that the rights to most of (if not all of, if I remember correctly) Port Discovery and Mystery Island are owned by the OLC and they cannot be used or duplicated by Disney without a further contractual agreement that does not break the first contract. Really, that means that it isn't going to happen-at least any time soon.

You don't give up, do you... you just can't admit you're wrong...

However....You got it all wrong...

EXCEPT Disney Doesn't own the ride system in Tokyo anymore...

This is how it works in real life...

The OLC bought the whole thing...

And what do you mean grander... been there in Tokyo???
We are NOT ALLOWED by law do duplicate this... this is called copyright...

The rights for the complete ride (including the ride system as used in Tokyo)has been sold to the OLC...

Then what about Test track, you're gonna say, that's the same ride system??

Basicly yes... but in the configuration like in Tokyo, may not be used by anyone else... not even Creative in Glendale, Ca... THEY sold these rights...

S O L D ..... like in not the owner anymore...

Why do you keep argueing... Don't argue for sake of argueing... It's useless...

Thanks!

Yea I understand. But nobody wants to clone port discovery or mystery island...what im saying is Disney can still build a Journey to the Center of the Earth ride here with a DIFFERENT and BETTER ride configuration AND set it inside of a Volcano and if you read my previous post in this thread I gave several examples of how the ride can be different.

We already know they were toying with the idea of building it in Animal Kingdom for a time...If you watch that travel channel documentary on animal kingdom, at the end when it talks about what could be in store for the park's future it shows a rough CGI animation of a giant insect with a vehicle speeding by it which was designed for an AK version of JTTCOTE.

Pffft... Even that tittle is for the ride copyrighted...
I'm not talking about Jules Verne's book... but the tittle if used for a ride...

You may call it anything you like, as long it's not called "Journey to the Center of the Earth"

BTW... It would be still a spin-off, I don't like spin-offs

But believe me, nothing like this will be build in the near future...

What about "Journey to the Center of the Earth with Stitch" or "Journey to the Center of the Earth Starring Journey" or "Journey to the Center of the Earth featuring a Disney presentation of a Pixar Animation Studios film"?

Whoops... Lewis Carroll has been suspended. I guess he really was ghostbusters after all.

No doubt about it.
He posted the exact same post on 4 different boards, under 3 different names, then claimed that others were copying his posts. Steve pulled the thread so I can't be sure, but I think posting here wasn't the first of the 4. :hammer:

Anything seems a bad fit for SE. Its a great attraction that needs a little update is all.
Besides, wasnt Storm Rider supposed to go in the wonders of life pavillion?

No, the only thing that was ever solid for the pavilion was:

A) Demolition

B) Retheme to life stages, something akin to the way they divide up health books in the 90's. Body Wars was to be taken over by the young adolescent period of life, and possibly snag a Toy Story theme, Cranium Command was supposed to be be Teenage life and such. Making of Me would obviously be early stages.

Storm Rider may have been considered/blue sky/scribbled on a napkin at some point, but was never a solid plan as far as I know. More of an internet rumor than anything.
