Rumor Stitch's Great Escape Replacement— Don’t Hold Your Breath

I rode SGE two days ago and I can still smell the chili dogs. It's like someone took searing hot onion scented sewing needles and jammed them in my nostrils. I think I need to see a doctor. :hungover:
If that little minor scent that is generated from that ride makes you feel that way, you most certainly should see a doctor. One that might be able to remove the hyperbole from your brain cells. Seriously, what kind of wimps has this country become. Enough is enough. It's a make believe odor, that doesn't hang around forever and is used very little. Lets get a small bit of strength in our lives. Life is tough, and it is short... try and not take ourselves so ridiculasly serious. Laugh a little, we are only here for a short time. (or at least compose a list of things worthy of concern... that is not one of those things)

Are you making a hyperbolic statement as a way to mock the comment you're responding to or are you genuinely outraged that someone would utilise a hyperbole to mock something? I really can't tell.

Probably a little of both. I don't really care if people don't allow themselves to enjoy things simply because there is a small portion of it that they don't understand, but, in our world and especially the one that I have existed in there are important things to worry about and the rest have no relevance to anything. It seems to me that society is getting so uptight about everything that they have trouble finding humor or fun in things that were established strictly for that purpose. The effects on SGE were designed after the character and might be a surprise to many, but, for those that do know what it is all about, should find humor in it. The effect causes no harm and even the stated problems like lingering smell, in my opinion, is psychosomatic much like people that happen to walk though a minuscule amount of cigarette smoke have to run off and wash their hair because it smells bad. People don't have that powerful an olfactory sense. We have one, yes, but, we are reacting like we are dogs or other animals that have that magnified sense for survival. I have been able to smell the chili dog smell while on the attraction, but, never even once felt that I carried it out with me. You cook stuff in your house, do you carry that smell around when out or does it only exist in our minds.

I do know that extended exposure does indeed cause that. People like myself that were in the printing business for 14 years, went home smelling like printers ink. Later when I worked in a bus company with diesel in the air went home smelling of diesel. People that work in certain types of restaurants also carry odors, however, that is prolonged exposure not just a few minutes of exposure. When we used to leave Soarin after riding through the orange groves smell like oranges? It again is just my opinion, but, I think that people tend to make to much of things that are of the least important and tend to turn a blind eye toward stuff that should be of real concern.

I really don't mean to be rude but for somebody complaining about society supposedly becoming too sensitive you seem to be getting pretty riled up over what was most likely a humorous jab at a dubious effect in a theme park ride. There really is no need to write paragraphs explaining that Disney doesn't spray guests with concentrated doses of chilli dog aroma.

I'm now left wondering if cast members who worked at Horizons smelt of citrus by the end of their shifts. That odour canon submerged the whole pavilion in that sweet Lorange smell.

Thank you. My comment was meant to be a joke and nothing more.

The irony is strong with that one.

OK, everyone calm down. I am aware that I overreacted to that and if it were the first time it was mentioned I probably wouldn't have said a word. However, I did overreact and for that I apologize. I am a very angry person right now based on a very awful feeling that so many people today are overreacting to absolutely the wrong things. Maybe my doing this means that I am just another person in a world so confusing that we don't know what to be upset about. Who knows? In my mind, it really isn't irony even though on the surface I can see how it would be seen that way. It is more of an upset with how we all are so ready to over state a minor problem or issue due to the fact that we don't understand it's reason for being or we are overly sensitive to it and unable to let ourselves understand things for what they are.

SGE has never been on my list of things I must go to, neither was Alien Encounter. But, I did see the humor in SGE and felt that the effects were an integral part of that humor. Maybe I have witness a lot of things in my life that others have been fortunate enough to have missed. The smell of death for one. The smell of burning bodies for another. I had to deal with that at one time so when I hear people being concerned about the fake smell of a chili dog in a theme park attraction, I get upset and wonder what these people would do if faced with a real situation that wasn't meant in humor. I usually can contain myself, this time, I couldn't. For that I apologize!

I'm really sorry for whatever traumatic experience it is that you had. It sounds pretty life altering.

Maybe you could find some sort of a PTSD discussion board that would help you work through your feelings about your experience.

My thoughts and prayers as you work your way through it.

But this is a Disney discussion board. People here are going to discuss (and yes, argue) about pretty trivial things that seem really out of place in comparison to your experience. Some here have had traumatic and life altering experiences as well, but find escape in discussing trivial things.

Ive seen a man die (after he was shot). Ive been shot at several times at close range, held up at gun point, and car jacked (at gun point also), but I do not use it as any excuse to dismiss my behavior. I had many extremely traumatic experiences growing up but I did not act like Brenda Walsh and loose control of reality and require therapy (kudos to anyone who remembers that episode).

I completely agree with you. There are a lot of people who can share traumatic events on these boards, but this isn't the time or the place. I'm here to talk about Disney.

Wow! I stepped away from this thread for a few weeks and came back to read the last page. This conversation sure turned dark... Who knew Stitch and Wreak it Ralph could be so controversial? o_O

I have plenty to be worried about that's more important than Disney. I just don't need to talk about them on a Disney forum, so I focus on what upsets me about Disney. Or what excites me.

If you thought the floats were big check out Happiness Is Here

I honestly believe the others are still bigger. The angle of the camera and field of view (way narrower in the video you posted, the floats look ok in the video you posted elsewhere in the forumof the same parade ) makes them look way taller than they actually are.

I guess I'm officially old. I remember when this phrase would be used to describe someone who drove a vehicle with a stick shift. Heck, I still own a vehicle with a stick. ;)
oh, my post was not about stick or not! sorry for not being clear.
Just meaning "manual" as in human operators handling all the functions of the car.

In my country we call the "stick" as "Standard".
And the D gear... "automatico".

You were actually completely clear with your meaning. I was just using the word choice to try to be funny and to reflect how the meanings change over time (such as "manual" might change in an era of automated vehicles). Americans also call cars with a stick "standard," but they also refer to them as a having a "manual" transmission.

To be a little more on topic, one of my favorite things about riding Stitch is all the left over AE stuff.
Like the XS branded chair covers when a seat is down in the theater and the xs tubes down at the end of the hall where you load into the theaters.

Do you think Disney keeps an old ride's lights/audio/vehicle programming when they reskin it into a new experience?

Like just for example, you could sit down and theyd play the old light/seat programming and audio for AE, but with the stitch reskin still
existence (rendering some of stitch's current effects like the guns and animatronic itself useless but whatever)?
Or like they select the CTX ride programming and onboard audio for a vehicle while it goes through it's current incarnation of Dinosaur?

I've always thought it would be so cool to just experience some of these programmings even if the ride itself didnt quite match up physically.

Sorry to change the subject so hard but I figured it would be okay since there's not really much news for this topic in light of RiW getting
shelced (thank god)
