Rumor Stitch's Great Escape Replacement— Don’t Hold Your Breath

How does Disney normally go about getting rid of decommissioned AAs? I've never seen pictures of whole animatronics outside of the parks, but I've heard lots of "rumors" about things finding their way into private collections. Disney has to know they could make tons of cash just selling individual parts at auction or something.

Can't say I was ever a huge fan of SGE, hopefully if this confirms closure something permanent is in the pipeline, the 50th is coming up surely they'd want something permanent in that space?

There are some that have been sold.. (the food rocks ones, for example), but most of them end up either in storage, repurposed, or torn down for parts. These days, I think it would be very rare to see anything make it into private hands, as they seem to have gotten much tighter with not selling stuff off to the public anymore. I keep half an eye on the auction sites, and haven't seen anything new show up (outside of hotel room decor, or that sort of thing) since the last Space Mountain turnstiles came up.. course, I might have missed something too.

Frequently items pass into the hands of company employees. Reaching the public is usually for lower value items now.

Hey I don’t know if this is the right thread for this but I’ve been looking for good pictures of the AE alien animatronic, and I swear I’ve seen a picture of the actual animatronic in bright lighting surrounded by Imagineers or Cast Members, am I just crazy or can someone verify it does exist, or better yet, send it?

Lucky for you it does exist! Unlucky for you, it came from a tumblr account that I think has since been deleted. I can try to find it though.

I'm not sure when this was taken, but it's neat and shows how much detail they added to the figure, even though during the ride you barely see it.

I was lucky enough to witness this attraction in 2001,but honestly when I returned in 2002 I had no desire of seeing the show. It was a good show but in my opinion not nearly on the level of greatness that people are placing it on. My sister told me a story of my little cousin Matthews first experience with it when he was 8 years old, he could not stop crying. I will say that alien encounter was a much better attraction then stitches great escape, but I also thought the Stitch AA was far more impressive than the alien AA 🙌

Stitch was pretty impressive, but I think the alien was impressive in it's own right. Just look at these advanced movements!
